i just dont get what they were trying to do at all, heaven why would they not remember there lives? why not just have it an actual alternate reality and then all go back to the island.
i didnt like what they did with the alternate reality/limbo at all, i was hoping it was an alternate reality and that when they met themselves they would remember how the events on the island improved all of there lives and that they would be able to live happily knowing that in the new reality, something along those lines but instead they went with...there all dead and this is heaven.....il rewatch it but it just felt not right
The first time I saw this, I was already crying, I had already been crying everytime someone remembered lol, and when he said, "I hope that someone does for you, what you just did for me =)" I remember just bawling like a baby
I love how the music pauses for a second while the first flash comes and then it lets loose the awesome music. I wish it paused like that on the soundtrack
I'm not quite sure why he's so happy to remember though. I mean, lots of amazing things happened to him on the island for sure, but in the end it all led to him being murdered in the most brutal way. Plus, in the real world he lost Helen. I would think it'd be a little harder to let that fantasy life go...
@Ashogo ...idk, maybe just that he's a man of faith to the end? even despite his murder, maybe he's as convinced as ever that it all had a purpose? and arguably, it did... though that wouldn't be in his memories, I suppose.
1:34 smiling because its like how it used to be, john pushing, jack pulling, locke knows hes dead and he sees jack now as he did when he was alive 2:02 the
most amazing lines in the show, the look on jacks face after he says it, because deep inside him somewhere, even if he cant reach it, he knows that locke fixed him and for one split second you can see he almost gets it, but just doesnt want to believe it. ,the mass people watch this scene, and dont see the genius. lost is a true masterpiece
the show was never about answering all the theories and mysteries it raised in the six years it was on, but rather it was about character. sure, it would've been nice to answer every single thing they brought up, but that's what was great about the show; it left it open for people to interpret what they thought it meant. for any true LOSTIE -- me included -- the end was brilliant and ended just how it should have
Love this scene. After all their intense arguments over faith, Locke does not treat Jack with arrogance or scorn. At 1:14, he is saddened to see Jack still not rememebering. Jack, on some level, knows Locke was right all along. There is no heat or anger in his emotions towards John, like there was on the Island. He's just refusing to acknowledge what he's already knows in his heart of hearts.
"You don't have a son" – Locke pissing off Jack with this made me laugh so hard because that's what Locke did on the island all the time. Why didn't Jack remember everything instantly?
the only thing i hate about this scene was that johns moment was way to fuckin short. he deserves more than that. he died for the island and his people for crying out loud. other than that everything else is great.
@1747CT I think its short because Locke was always a believer. It took him alot less time for him to accept what the remembering meant than anybody else.
@CTU1640 jack only has a son in the flashsideways and because locke has remembered his life in real terms and his experiences, including those with jack, he knows that jack doesnt have a son.
one of my favourite scenes from the entire LOST saga. the emotion in this scene was portrayed and captured brilliantly. And the music... Giacchino IS a genius!
I absolutely love the way Locke smiles from 1:35 to 1:38 while Jack is telling him to stay in bed, it says "Same old Jack". I can't imagine what it would be like to remember your whole life like that. Brilliant work, right here.
This was one of the best acted / directed scenes in all of LOST...the expression Locke has when he remembers and realizes that Jack finished what he started on the island, and also the expression he gets when he tells Jack they need to go and he gets amused b/c it's just like old times on the island when they used to antagonize each other
Plus it's a Jack / Locke scene...the best and deepest of any LOST scenes
this was the greatest piece of media ever crafted, from start to finish, a marvel on every level. as an experience from start to end, its better than any film ive ever watched, game, book or music ive heard. what an amazing show and i cant wait till the day that i have kids, so my children one day in the future experience something so special like nothing before it or after it

love locke's WHOOO...and that smile of happiness...andhow jack gets shocked when he sees them looking down to the hatch.,..and the pain of jack he says, you don't have a son..heartbreaking
Great musical score you can just can feel the emotion when you listen to the music. That's why I love music in tv and movies helps the plot and the characters.

"u dont have a son" i dont understand whole ending, did they all died right at the beginning of 1 season in plane crash? and whole island was their limbo?
@MrConredsX nope, the whole island was real, just this "alternate reality" was their limbo (season6), which helped them to remember what happened on the island and how everyone actually knew each other. "remember and let go"
oh i see, but i still dont see how Walt fit into this story, he was so important and then left behind, and what about those egyptian statues and lighthouse, who was Jacob mother and others who lived with MiB, what was the mystery behind temple keeper and how Sayid was cured by just speaking with Desmond. So many questions and it felt like a letdown, so that world was made of people who died? So Ana Lucia,Miles,Lapidus and Ben and others will go to that church too? Madness
@MrConredsX You may be interested in a 11 minute epilouge entilted " the new man in charge" it will be included on the season 6 DVD. I watched it online. I think the website was called tv hatch. It ties up some loose ends. maybe not all you wanna know, but it is very good
@MrConredsX The actor that played walt had to be taken out due to his growth spurt. The eqyption statues shows that the eqyptions were on the island at some point, jacobs mother was the protector before jacob, the others who were with mib were the romans that shipwrecked along with mib, jacob and real mom. The temple keeper was responsible for guarding the temple from the man in black. Most things were answered its just people dont realise it.
@MrConredsX also, Jack only imagined he had a son in the flash sideways in guise of his own problems with his father, too work out with and come terms too.,
yeah they keep the best characters memories the shortest, =( I think it was because they wanted you to think something happened in the exodus episode cause he "saw the heart of the island as a beautiful thing". Yeah John Locke was the best character in television history as far as i am concerned
See, I also thought this was too short but my take on it is that after he remembers you get this brilliant moment in which he realizes Jack is the man in front of him. That wee smile he gives is just lovely.
i don't care what people say. in my opinion, John Locke is the best television character ever. somewhere down the line, Terry O Quinn is going to get an oscar!
Locke is the greatest character ever.. His story is so tragic and, in the end, happy. Terry O'Quinn is an amazing actor, one of the best. I agree the music was a little short, though. :) Locke's got the best character theme in the show.
"You don't have a son Jack". That line is so moving and heartbreaking, after getting to know Jacks relationship with his "David" this season. Really incredible acting.
@MarcelSSSSS after? I guess the song of the whole video is "Locke'd out again", Locke's theme since season 1. This one is just a new version for the finale, which probably will be in the OST of season 6.
@robinhobouwman because you're talking about the first OST of season6, but there's a new one which has been released recently. It's called "The Last Episodes" OST and it covers songs from the last 5 episodes of the season, including the finale :)
This scene is one of my top 3 favorite moments. I just can't get enough of Locke.. my only grip (and I wouldn't even call it that) is that I wish his flashes lasted longer .. that music and the emotion are just so overwhelmingly beautiful, it would of just been so great to have a few more seconds.
@Mik3OnceSaiD these are exactly my thoughts! I wish his flashes were longer because this version of Locke's theme was so amazing that I needed to listen and watch more, and Locke's expression remembering just blows you away... it would have been even more beautiful and emotional a few seconds extra. However, I'm satisfied with it.
I understand some people's frustration with the finale not answering questions, but it had so many beautiful, EPIC character moments, like this one where the REAL Locke comes back. Just in usual LOST fashion, it leaves some things open for our own interpretation depending on your own personal journey through the series. Terry O'Quinn really, really needs to win an Emmy this year for his work. Simply brilliant.
@peaceandmetal88 yeah, hope he gets an Emmy again, this scene deserves it. Matthew Fox did a great acting as well in the finale, one of his best in the whole series!
This made the finale for me. Locke's entire character was about validation. He was constantly questing for validation. Validation from his father. Validation that the Island was important. Validation that he was important. Validation for his faith. In this moment the character receives that validation. That's why he says "I hope somebody does for you what you just did for me." And that, to me, is what makes it so satisfying.
@morganagod I completely agree with you. That last Locke's quote is the best thing he could have said, it is so emotional. One of the best Lost characters.
First time I watched the finale I hated it, Decided to give it another chance and I have come round abit, However I think Locke was totally screwed out of his story. I missed the real Locke and was hoping to see abit more of him in the finale. We got this scene and 1 with Ben and that was about it. I was also hoping for a scene with Jack and Locke after we found out thier dead.
i just dont get what they were trying to do at all, heaven why would they not remember there lives? why not just have it an actual alternate reality and then all go back to the island.
