Actually,the first UAV (IAI Scout) was developed in Israel in the 1970s, and the US started buying those in the early 80's (after the 1982 Lebanon war).

The second UAV, IAI Heron, was made in Israel in the early 2000's, and bought by the US, mostly for the war against drugs traffickers in South America.

When it comes to UAV's, the Israeli industry doenst need to copy other countries products.
