  • Great review!

  • Tegra 3! NOT 2. :P

  • i am planing to get one but i have to pay half the price so i am saving up

  • Best review for this tablet. Great job man :)

  • This device is not ok. I bought the one with the dock, it failed after 4 days with no reason, had to send it back to asus who know does not want to repare it for free !! It's my worst experience as a purchase. I am really disappointed with both the device and asus behavior with their clients.

  • i want this for my birthday!!! :D

  • without 3g its worthless for me

  • waiting for upgraded version and 7"

  • He judges performance based on web page loading? hahahhah

  • @RyeinGoddard

What's so funny about it? Most people are going to care about browser speeds than intensive rendering, or extremely artificial test scores that aren't even designed for quad core tablets.

  • @thewurlybird .... the speed of the Internet is mostly dependent on the server that is answering the request, your wifi router, your isp, and the program used to browse the web. All of which have nothing to do with the actual hardware. There are so many factors and reasons why using a real Internet connection to base your benchmark off of is retarded. Now a local test on a server you have set up for this very reason would give you accurate test results.

  • @RyeinGoddard

I don't think he ever said that he was basing his benchmarks off of the web page rendering speeds, but it's just showing just big of a difference the numbers make, namely, not much at all. The point that he is trying to make is that the software is holding back the hardware, as evident in the countless reviews of ICS-ed Prime benchmarks and real world performance tests.

  • @thewurlybird I prefer not assuming and take people at what they say and do, but I agree. Android is ballz. That is why I would buy this and put Ubuntu on it.

  • @RyeinGoddard

Oh I'm not saying Android is horrible, it's just honeycomb that is. I have a original transformer on Honeycomb 3.2, and it is the bane of my existence. ICS should make it massively better, but I have a tribooting netbook for anything serious. It's just the convenience of a noiseless (fanless) little slate I can pick up and watch a quick video or what have you that I appreciate. And having an OS that doesn't crash, freeze, freeze crash, and die randomly would make it so much better

  • @thewurlybird Anything built off Java is gonna be ballz. Google pushed out a pile of crap and people ate it up because it was google.

  • @RyeinGoddard

Same could be said for a lot of things. It works for what I need it to do, simple as that. Also the reason why iPads sell so well; mainstream consumers don't need hypercore de-threading multiplexing on multiple levels, they just need it to do basic things well.

  • @thewurlybird That is kind of an over-generalization. A normal user doesn't know what they want. They take what is available and popular. Personally, I want a device that is open to what ever I want to do with it since I paid for it, Doesn't have a crap slow OS that freezes and is a resource hog, and finally isn't so locked down that it makes moving music from one thing to the next a security blockaded chore. Bottom line is the Prime is cool, but only with Linux.

  • @RyeinGoddard

Normal users just want something that can check things like e-mail, watch youtube videos, and surf the web. Or just some cool widget to play around with, all of which an iPad does perfectly fine. Well you're a very small minority, companies respond to the majority since they have the most money. I personally like Google Music, being able to access 15000 songs instantly is pretty useful.

  • @thewurlybird Well your a consumer and I'm a creator. We see things differently, but from where I'm sitting that statement is most definitely not all a user wants.

  • @RyeinGoddard

You make things for the masses to use. The companies shouldn't need to make devices that cater to your needs, when the vast majority of people aren't going to use any of those features. I'm an above average user (rooted, custom rom, all that fun junk) and the level of tech-knowledge most people I know that own tablets and the like is so low it's not even funny. If anything, OEMs need to dumb things down even more. There are developer tablets out there if you need them.

  • @thewurlybird Your position has been noted, but it still doesn't change the truth of the situation.

  • It can replace the Air .. all you gotta do is install Ubuntu.

  • awesome

  • Can i connect external cd/dvd drive to the keyboard dock over usb? Will that work ?!

  • @pleeeic

It can power it, but I don't think it can read them because Android doesn't support it. It will read hard drives and flash drives, though.

  • So We Won't Be Able To Buy TF Prime Without The Docking-station? Please respond.

  • @Pati3ntSoul its optional

  • @Pati3ntSoul where did you get that? the docking station is sold separately.

  • @MrFunkygoodtime

Well, Im basically having difficulty finding a TF Prime without dock station for sale in my part of the world. And I also came across an article which stated that Prime would not be sold separately.

  • Thx! It was a brilliant review/comparising ;) I have one question. In my country the transformer prime costs almost 200 dollars more than the original. Is it worth the extra money? How would you compare it to the iPad 2 which also costs almost 200 dollars less than the transformer prime. Thank you ;)

  • @LoOpEddy

In my opinion, if you don't need flash in the browser, or the customization possibilities of Android, and don't mind having a slightly slower but still perfectly functional tablet, get the iPad 2. Although you may want to wait, because Apple is rumored to be coming out with an iPad 3 sometime this year.

I have the original Transformer, and it works perfectly fine for everything I need it for.

  • very good video. i was about to get it when the salesman said he just read that the prime had wifi issues but i figured they would have fixed it. if the ones out now are fixed that is great. probably my next buy

  • if they could make it so this plays some high end steam/origin powered games, i would def. buy it...

  • great review! gd job!

  • What kind of ssd to usb adapter do you use there?

I've been looking everywhere for that!

  • hey anand r u a maharashtrian?

  • 10:00 what game is that?

  • ipad2 :(

  • Finally a good deep review!! nice vid and good sound quality!

  • How have things changed since 4.0? Also what do you make to the 1920x1200 versions of this tablet which is going to be coming out?

  • holy shit, you have insanely good audio quality. what brand/model is your microphone?

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MAH MONEY!!!!

  • Great review !!

I am trying to understand what adapter i need to buy to use an xbox wireless controller ?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks !!

  • ICS has issues with some Transformer Prime tablets, so I wouldn't upgrade yet. Or at least I would downgrade if I would get the issues. Also Reddit at 15:32

  • most comprehensive review I have ever seen on youtube for anything not just electronics

  • Ok so how much does this cost in th UK? Also this or the galaxy tab 10.1?

  • its has ics NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Any chance of a re-evaluation now Ice Cream Sandwich is out?

  • newegg already deactivated this product and now just them... google it.

google, Fix or replace Transformer Prime Model TF201

  • AWESOM JOB MAN. THANKS

  • you forgot to mention the memory slot in the dock, seems a preatty important note

  • setcpu!!

  • how about flash?..

  • @Jer0meLey all google platform tablets are flash enabled. the iPad is the only tablet unable to support it.

  • @xXCH1TTYXx does it do good?, no lag?

  • @Jer0meLey yes. I work at best buy and am able to work with one every day. it is very smooth extremely snappy

  • @xXCH1TTYXx thank you so much, may i please ask if there is a best buy in the philippines??

  • @Jer0meLey there isnt a BestBuy, but we do own a different line of store in different countries.i believe its called "five star" in the phillippines.

  • @xXCH1TTYXx the same items? phones and stuff?? :)), thanks man, i appreciate it

  • These would be awesome as school computers etc. :]

  • Fantastic review, subscribed. I'd love if you could post impressions about ICS performance.

  • Good Job man. Wow.

  • 04:03 3D effect =O jajajajaja, it's a joke... obviously -.-

  • does it come with the keyboard? if no how much does the keyboard cost pls?

  • @MrGanninu93 he tells teh price in the review. some places they sell with dock included, some offer has tablet only

  • thanks a lot but we need to see the issue and betterment not listening to your opinion about it "No offense I swear"

  • For anyone on the fence of getting this tablet due to better ones coming out later this year it probably best to wait at least one mkre week cause ces starts monday and icecream sandwhich comes out this week so reviews should be in, in other words this week youll know everything you want and all doubts realized

  • very good review. Many thanks.

No mention of the GPS problem but I've ordered my baby and am expecting it soon.

  • Good review!! Keep up the good work!! SGSII

  • best review i ever seened

  • Is it safe to buy this now, knowing there are more android tabs to come?

  • Great review but it has only a 50 dollar price increase to comparable sizes. The original transformer 32 gigabyte is $450 and the transformer prime 32 gigabyte is $500 dollars. Reasonable for the amount of tech that is in it.

  • do u advice me to buy Asus or Ipad 2 ?

  • @dr0rays my personal recomendation is an iPad 2 most if you have already something from Apple.... if not.... go ahead with the ASUS Prime!

  • @dr0rays my vote goes to asus. but it all depends on u.

  • This is the first android tablet worth buying.

  • hold on, whats he mean by 'obviously not ipad 2 performance' for the gpu, all nvidia does is make GPU's and you mean to tell me the tegra 3 isnt as good as already year old technology?

  • @Spinal2111 Thats exactly what im saying.

  • best review I've ever seen, thanks!

  • can we buy this tablet without the dock?? the dock is optional right

  • @kb24atkim correct, it is optional but it gives more battery power to the tablet. it indicates once it runs out of power but you are still able to use the keyboard ( like you normally do )

I bought it and i really like it, it does make the tablet a lit bit heavier but it has a very solid feel.

  • This is a good fxing review. This guy is a pro. Now I need to find a place to get this damn thing.

  • The most professional and detailed review I have ever watched. Thank you.

  • I just got this tablet and i downloaded dice player to play mkv 720/1080p vids, awesome video player! smooth as butter.

wifi isn't that bad, i get decent signal from 50feet away of distance, it also depends if you have a good router.. mines a 5 year old dlink 4200

  • @excelx213 could you please tell me if you played the 1080p directly from a usb external disk?

  • @bigzaqui yes from a WD my passport external usb disk ( 1TB HD ) worked perfect and then i copy it to the tablet and got the same results as well. i tried other video players ( non of them worked ) dice player worked perfect! smooth video playback.

  • @excelx213 thanks a lot, I've looking for this answer for hours, I'm so buying this gadget :)

  • @bigzaqui you welcome =]

  • best review to date.

  • Now put windows 8 on it and ill buy.

    Fuck android lagfest.

  • I would rather have less battery life and 4 cores at max power :/ Is the hardware even capable of that? Say with some rooting done to the machine could someone get all 4 cores working full speed?

  • @DayLight95

Have you actually watched the review?...

  • @DjiEnn Yeah.. Why?

  • @DayLight95

review explained that it is possible. The normal state = 4 cores at full power. Then there are 2 other power options, that reduces power for batterylife.

  • @DjiEnn Ohhh I didn't understand that part :) Thanks.

  • what an amazing review, very good! I'm definitely subscribing.

  • wifi problems are due to the freaken NETGEAR!

  • When will it be available?

  • This is a fantastic review. Exactly what you want when looking into investing in a new piece of tech, or just plain interesting even if you aren't. More like this please!

  • This is what i call A REVIEW other "reviewers" should watch and learn from this guy!

    i subscribe !

  • hmm no autosave, soooo, just like microsoft word then?

  • I love watching reviews on stuff im never going to get!

  • @footodor1 that's the main reason why i watch them XD

  • Very good review.. Thanks

  • wow, that was one of the best reviews in general i've seen. very informative, direct and comprehensive. nice work!

  • very good technical review ...the best out there! thanks

  • esto que son las noticias de television española contandonos la vida social de la duquesa de alba, vaya rollo tiene el tio

  • everyone check this out 14:20 just listen to what he says you get more ____________ fill in the blank

  • Has it got anti-fingerprint screen?

  • @rjmelobr no, tablet include a microfiber cloth tho x)

  • I have to agree with the majority, this is definitely one of the best, if not the best review for any tablet I've ever seen. The amount of detail you put in about the tablet, stuff under the hood, clock speeds, etc etc. All that stuff you'd find in a normal laptop review but nobody ever puts in their tablet reviews. Thank you for an awesome review. Tax time is almost here!

  • Best review i seen YET. THANKS.

  • When will it get ics

  • TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE GETTING THIS TABLET: you must have an itouch too because the android market sucks so use this just the given purpose.

  • @dannyshin1996 from someone who never use an android....

  • @dannyshin1996 Last time i checked, the android market had grown larger than the app store.... go check your facts before you talk

  • @dannyshin1996 You're being obnoxious and yet another example of how immature the general Apple fanbase is. Only children are influenced by these commercials from advertisers trying to convince you to "stick to one company" and "our products are always better". There is no such thing, because if there was a perfect company that offered everything then there would be no need for competition, would there?

  • Digging this Tablet.

  • Now that's some professional reviewing, great review.

  • This is a weird question but even though the prime has its own docking station keyboard dock can u use the Asus eee pad transformer original's keyboard dock?

  • @amtab0901 No, it's not compatible with the original Transformer's keyboard dock.

  • @NuclearSadNuclear0 cool man. Will the speeds be as fast when you tether vs a direct connection to your wifi?

  • Comment removed

  • onlive might be the killer app for the tablet soon for gaming

  • no 3G, Whats the point..... A big NOOOO...!!

  • @novellez fuck you.! shut up.

  • Thanks for the brilliant review!

  • I WANT ONE!

  • @89forsakin

    iPhone 4/4s has 326ppi actually.

  • @justincgs compared to a book you would also hold in your hand (ie similar distance), or a tv of similar size that is viewed from further away, the resolution sucks. text is not crisp and smooth, or at least, not as well defined as something as old school as a book.

resolution is one of those things where its always more = better

  • PLEASE PLEASE Please...test GPS. We are having a great debate on xda forum about the gps. Many people are reporting no lock on. You should have tested that! I need to know so I can decide to pick it up or not!

  • Who watched this video til the end?

  • @cooperdude2009 i did, why?

  • @andrestheguat Then you're an Asus fan!

  • 09:18: "There are no real killer Apps"... PSX? N64? That's already more "killer" then my PC :D

  • Looks like a screen door effect when showing the James Bond movie. I was watching this review at 720p full screen.

  • man, asus makes a perfect tablet and google ruins it with their faulty software. they better not screw it with ice cream sandwich. sadly, i think they will

  • ... I almost got an iPad 2. How upset would I have been?

  • @Anthony2theK not at all, its still the dominate device. It has the largest catalogue of apps and has no faulty programming causing stuttering, lags and crashes .. I like the transformer prime but android has a longggg way to go before its 100% ready for the mass market .. as it stands i see it as a good beta but far from a GM/final release, its like the world is one large beta tester group for google.

  • finally after 1 year ipad 2 >= trnsprime

  • Comment removed

  • @nabiawada transformer cant be compare whit ipad 2 this transprime can =

  • @zungaloca what planet are you on? iPad 2 release date : march 11, 2011 .. Transformer 1 : april 4, 2011 .. Transformer prime : December 2011 .. iPad 3 : Jan-Feb 2012 ... Do you see what next gen and current gen devices mean? Tranformer 1 is to ipad 2 as Transformer prime is to ipad 3, they're similar in release cycles therefore they are a better comparison the ipad 2 came out a month before the transformer 1 so you compare the two while the prime is coming out a month or two before the ipad 3.

  • @nabiawada Trans 1 cant CANT be compare whit ipad 2 prime yes

  • wow nice reviews

  • I'm wondering, is 13:28 is in full screen mode? and you can't watch movies using the whole entire screen/display?

  • To guy whose wanting it to run Win8- why? I

MS has said legacy apps won't be able to run on ARM based systems.

You'd have to buy new software.

  • Top notch review!

  • excellent review

  • Comment removed

  • I think he's incorrect on Apple improving their screens beyond 1280 x 800 w/ the iPad 3... they didn't even make any improvements at all with the iPad 2! I certainly don't think they're ahead when it comes to display technology. If anyone is going to reach 1920 x 1080 by next summer, I suspect that honor will belong to Samsung's display tech.

  • what about the touching is still buggy????

  • where is the rest of the Video???
