  • I'm sure there's some rich fuck with one of like 4 ever made

  • a shame crushed,Before it even had a chance, nice looking sport truck but it just didnt have what the market was looking for at that time. pontiac just went under.

  • thank to o bummer we'll never know what could of been. come on chevrolet we want this put an el camino out would you.

  • wont do anygood know, but how aobut GMC DENALI ST and then maybe a DENALI ST-v, sounds good to me. thembs up for that if you agree and would love to see it., peace

  • Shoulda brought it as a chevy like the caprice cops cars for police(13 '11s got into public hands).. Buick exports to China why Buick survived:-(

  • Its a Flashback Utility Coupe.

  • GM should have stopped making buick and kept on making pontiac

  • @moose2014 I HERD THAT BRO!!!

  • El Camino

  • The Pontiac Tungsten !!

  • I guess GM really dugg their own grave, didn't they? If they want to sell cars, they have to be good looking, and some of the cars should even have a certain level of performance.

And if they expanded the sales even broader besides South-Africa, Middle-East & the UK, it would've been more profitable, but then it wouldn't be that unique anymore like this XR6 Ford is to Australia... which is only available locally as RHD because of low budget with the launch of the BA! But still, such a nice car!

  • Holden Ute. Check out the HSV Maloo R8.

  • aghahaha "sport truck"

  • its called a UTE..

  • i want one this is cool

  • Makes me sick they stopped making Pontiacs just when they started making some of the best vehicles they ever have an are were exciting as they ever have been

  • If only this came into being...

  • GM should kill themselves for dropping Pontiac, I would have been all over that shit

  • @JamesBondSim9 i agree

  • i wonder if they actually brought this to america an it sold well would they have brought the g8 sportwagon over?

  • pffftttt...."like no other vehicle today?" wtf??? Look at the Australian Ford website and see it's direct competitor - The Falcon Ute (and FPV...Ford Performance Vehicles website).....yeah I agree, call it a UTE...pick-up sounds gay..

  • GAYYYYYYYYY

  • This car just exudes awesomeness.

  • You don't like to go fast?

  • IT'S A UTE!!!!! That's how you cut it. The name should stick whether it's sold in the Americas or the origin country, Australia... Same stands with the commodore

  • @aveltkam i might be wrong but didn't the ranchero and el camino start the whole car / truck thing back in the 60's here in america?

  • @dankebuddha

this car is the holden commodore. it's built in Australia, they named it. It's a bloody ute. call it a ute.

  • @dankebuddha it started in Australia in 1932..

    "The story of the utility truck or coupé utility– the ute – began in 1932, when a letter was received by Ford Australia’s plant at Geelong, Victoria. It was written by a farmer’s wife who’d had enough of riding to church in the farm truck and arriving in saturated clothing;

‘Why don’t you build people like us a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday, and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays?’ her letter asked. "

  • @Ansett76 i heard that somewhere before but it was years ago didn't know the year of the letter tho

  • @dankebuddha

    all the w's dot ..fastlane..dot..com..dot..au../..Features/First_ute...dot..htm..

will give you the whole story

  • they still make this? thought Pontiac went bankrupt and closed down???

  • @hemet92544 the pontiac name plate did dont mean gm cant restyle it and rebadge it to a chevy

  • Sometimes, you guys look too far into this, if you own one of these you don't care how much fuel you're using, you're looking around and seeing just how many heads you're turning while driving a beauty like this. Besides that, keep in mind you're driving what is claimed to be the worlds fastest production pickup. I'd be proud of something like this even if it did get 10MPG and I got to drive it once per month because it's a work of art. Beat that you ricers.

  • @IDRIVEAG8GT ok all this bashing on imports has got to stop you show me 1 v8 running 6.8 like brent rau's 4 cylinder on a stock block then you got something but all this v8 > imports is nonsense has gotta stop and i drive a v8 mustang and grew up building v8's i know both worlds the man with the faster car wins dont matter the engine size

  • @dankebuddha Weight has a whole lot to do with what you're talking about here. You're blowing what I said all out of proportion. I have Honda nuts blowing smoke out of there ass all day about the G8 that I drive and am very proud of. 1. Because it's very unique. Australian/American, silly quick, oh and I forgot to mention has the worlds largest back seat. Show me a Mustang or imported vehicle you aren't cramped in. Also, 3 words. Chevrolet Cobalt SS. American/Australian ingenuity all the way :)

  • @IDRIVEAG8GT the g8 is the early version of the camaro same platform only the maro was shortend and widened and you'll be able to buy the g8 again in 2012 as the chevy caprice as they will be making them the new police cars since most cops hate the dodges not enough room inside the car and poor visibility and dodge's run through the stock brakes every 3 - 6k mile's no lie the have to step up to titanium rotors to help stop from blowing up the brakes

  • @dankebuddha I do agree. Dodge sucks...... Expletive upon expletive. And why would I want a damn cop car though? Stupidest idea I'vee ever heard in my whole life. Oh yeah lets give our cops over 400 horsepower and 180 mph potential so they can go out and kill innocent people and themselves! You know how left cops are. And if you don't I do.

  • @IDRIVEAG8GT they probably be governed like the vic's are to 140 - 160 mph think their more focused on acceleration then top speed it's not like we have alot of 200 mph cars running around even if you did you cant out run a cops radio

  • nicee G8

  • its ugly as shit

  • also look up LUMINA UTE sold in south africa

    now THATS THE ELCAMINO

  • sad i would loved to see this on the road, c'mon chevy bring back the el camino on this platform

  • i have a suggestion for the name:

    The Supercharged Bankkrupt!

  • I know this is an aussie car, yeah this sucker is gonna cost us 30k+ in te US, how much does an ute cost?

  • pontiac is dead... wtf are talking about , this video is a yr and a half old..

  • They where coming out with this, till GM cut them off.

  • How much these guys trying to charge u?? 31k? wtf? If our drivers side was the same I would happily help export them 2 the US! Secondly, ST?? Name this car? Dude its a ute! ute = utility & it's fast/lightweight, why do American's have to change the name of such as iconic Aussie car? Thridly, what's up with Pontiac's front end? Looks gay... Keep it original & add some aftermarket parts - becuase it is lightweight it will fly - believe me I hear the police trying 2 chase them all day all night!

  • search Vauxhall vxr8 bathurst topgear it has the maloo ute as well

  • I'm moving Down Under.

  • if you think these are sick look up hsv and even ford fpv

  • I already did. Amazing rides by the Aussies.

  • Ford Australia makes them aswell

  • Holden (GM Australia) still make them You could import a sedan, wagon or ute yourself for around $50,000us

  • show me where and how I can import a Ute and I'm there.

  • No more Pontiac! DAMN!

  • bobsaget!!!!!!!!! no more g8 st

  • This is one of the coolest cars I have ever seen. The G8 could carry the Pontiac brand, with the sedan, ST & the wagon. That said I know Pontiac is history, but they really should keep this cars. Build them with Toyota in Fremont if that's what it takes, but just build all three of them!

  • you should see the 'maloo' Its the Australian version of this. Its insane.

  • rip pontiac

  • this should have come out 3 yrs ago

  • @tittymonster69 this should of been on the streets, car meets, and drag strip already if Pontiac didn't die.

  • Well, just bring it back as the El Camino. It would sell better under that name than the Pontiac name anyway.

  • it will never come as Pontiac is DEAD !

  • This died before they did :(

  • yeah i agree, i purchased a maroon g8 gt 09 2 weeks ago and im so amazed with this car. who cares if its a austrailian car? it looks way better than a charger rt and it definately outperforms it also for a cheaper price. i think the g8 st truck will be awesome

  • everyone knows that g8s are made in australia and that holdens version has been around for a while... you guys dont have to say it over and over on EVERY fucking video that has a g8 in it.

BUT i love my g8 and im GLAD it's made by holden, cause its way better than anything pontiac has made.

  • You know the Pontiac G8 is just a rebadged Australian car, down under we've had "sports trucks" (we call them utes, short for utility) for decades.

The 1960's Holden HK could be seen as the first sports truck.

  • yanks suck - here in aus we've had these around forever, and when the yanks finally cotton on to the fact that they are gorgeous - you take ours and make it fuck ugly and give it less performance... LOL!

  • no no no!! im gonna faint...front end if piece of poo!!

maloo R8 version here in australian is way better too

  • I can believe GM screwed us over. I love GM cars and this would have looked good on the road, but no Gm had to cancel their plans for this car. Oh well.

  • GM keeps fucking up with shit like this.

  • i can't believe they cancelled the G8 truck,WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH GM?!!!i think they love Failures,GM can blow me!!!

  • My my Americans are very resistant to change aren't they...no wonder they're fast becoming yesterday's news.

  • they have those trucks in australia. holden ute's is what they're called, they have been around for a long time in australia.

  • its called the Pontiac Retardus

  • every cashed up kid here in australia has one of these , they look all flash but thats about it, there over priced slow buckets of shit

  • This thing is going to be a nice luggage hauler.

  • Pontiac Camino....

  • From what ive heard pontiac pulled the plug on it.

  • I heard that orders from Australia have been cancelled, given the current situation with cars around the world ATM.

  • America needs the G* ST! Please reverse the decision NOW, GM!!!!

  • this isn't a truck

  • No, it's a ute.

  • this car will FAIL, BTW this is not a truck, just b/c it has bed in the back doesn't make it a pickup truck. this is why GM is failing making shit that has no purpose. either make a real truck and tune it for performance or make this in to a coupe or convertible and redesign the front slightly so it has some potential.

    G8 is awesome BTW

  • of course its not a fukin truck! its a show pony and handles as well as the sedan which is pretty good since there is barely any weight on the rears.

  • These cars will take over 2500pounds in 6cyl base form in aus, this is the higher end sports model and as such is designed for driving fast while being more practical than a coupe.

  • Aussies easily build the best utes especially holden

    HOLDEN POWER!!!

  • lol the fastest ute in america only has 270 kw! thats shit compared to the HSV maloo and FPV Pursuits and F6's

  • If you want a car for work and play this is the car. very popular with the young Australians

  • The SS ute is an awesome car. They are far more popular in australia then large pickups because your getting the ride quality of a sedan, the plush cabin quality of a upmarket sedan and as well as getting a car that is a great work vehicle its essentially a sports car.

The reason people will buy this? Awesome performance, practicality, hot looks and after driving one no one will ever want to drive a big ugly bad handling pick up again.

  • your forgeting something moron, what about the ppl who need to tow more than a few sticks of lumber?hmmmm dodge ram? ford F150? toyota tundra? chevy silverado? ohh yeahhhh they might need those...

  • this is a badass looking car..err truck... car....cruck? lol no really badass

  • if fuel prices don't bother you, you should look at the high performance version, the hsv maloo. its got a 6.2ltr 425 hp v8.

  • everyone here is complaining about fuel prices but in aus the price is alot more than what the yanks are paying and we have been having record sales on v8s so if it costs you $20 more a week to run and that bothers you.....buy a fucking 1.6 vcrap honda!!!!

  • yeah vcrap.. thats it. You sir no nothing about cars. If you did you would know that a VTEC is one of the best engines made...

  • I know nothing about cars??? if you think having vtec is the be all and end all you are a very lost soul my friend.they are good motors if you want to sit above 6000rpm sall day long.but what happens when you try and tow woth your "vtec" or try and climb a hill without upshifting all day long.

my brother girlfriend has a supercharged s2000 and it feels just like a 4 cyl car till it hits vtec and my brother and myself agree that its hopeless down low and he drives a rz supra

  • VTEC: ALL OF THE LAG, NONE OF THE TURBO

  • are there any new cars in the same category ?

  • i love that car

  • Hopefully GM will offer it with the 300 hp 3.6 v6 that powers the cadillac CTS and is going to be seen in the entry level camaro, the 3.6 is supposed to get 19/23 so a person could average around 21... not bad for a truck with a sporty ride...that is if they make the 3.6 an option...

  • i dont see a chevy, being powered by a northstar caddy engine, but i might have to check up on that.

  • Are you really sure about what you're saying?

The V-8 Pontiac Sport Truck is expected to get 17/25 mpg city/highway. A 2.3-liter 4-cylinder Honda Element with a manual transmission gets 18/23.

    Want to try again?

    - Mike

  • Yes, but the real question is range.

How much does it cost to fill? And, how far does a tankfull get you?

Case in point: I own two cars.

One is a 2004 Ford Windstar van with a 3.0 liter V6 that costs about $65 to fill. That tankfull lasts me exactly one week.

My other car is a '97 Mazda Miata with a 1.8 liter turbo that costs me $32 to fill. That lasts one week with almost 1/4 of a tank left.

According to the MPG ratings, the Mazda gets about 10-12 more MPGs. That is NOT double the van

  • its a SPORTS TRUCK notice SPORTS, we're American we're all about gas-guzzling muscle cars, if you don't like it somewhere else dude, some people like to just have fun with the vehicle we're not all out on a mission like you apparently are.

  • Your Miata is rated at 19/26 mpg city/highway

That's only 1 to 2 mpg more than the G8 ST will likely get. But your tiny two-seater Miata can't haul a load of stuff in its tiny trunk or pull a 3,500-lbs trailer.

    Keep trying.

  • That's bullshit because I know how to drive.

    Yes, I do it professionally.

I average around 32-33 MPG because of stuff like, shifting to neutral and coasting to lights, not over-revving, and shifting without the clutch by matching the RPM's.

Again - I know how to drive.

All I know is, is that I get about 420 miles on $28 worth of gas bought in Jersey.

    That's around $3.26/gallon BTW.

  • Also, the millisecond that you punch the gas on this 'sport truck' is when your MPG goes to around 8-10 MPG. I mean, that's the point of this stupidity, right?

  • Your arguments are selfish and illogical, as the need to use foul language to emphasize your points proves. But let's step it up.

When I don't drive a truck (as intended) I drive a TDI Jetta. It seats 4 and has a 16 cu-ft trunk. Your Miata seats 2 and has a 5.1 cu-ft trunk. I average 43 mpg. 47 mpg if I really watch myself. You get 32-33 mpg. I'm getting 30% better fuel economy than you. My range: over 600 miles.

Good luck hypermiling in your Miata during your multiple trips to Home Depot.

  • @mikelevine not to dis ur vw but you do know you can build integra motor's super charged for 450hp and still gets 45 mpg so i can get gas mileage and stomp alot of v8's at the same time nothing against you personally i just hate it when people go on and on about stock mpg when i can build something for the same cash or less and do better

  • @Nacho66 it's probly gonna get the multi displacement system like on the 5.3 liters in the trucks my boy's truck hase it and the full size trucks gets 20 mpg with me doing 80 in it so this thing would get a good bit more i's say average 25 mpg unless you drive like me

  • @Nacho66 your just mad because its not as cool as ur fucking gay ass jap toyota!

  • @Nacho66 your just mad because its way cooler then ur fucking gay ass jap toyota!

  • reminds mee of the Chevrolet SSR. that shit is going to be a one hit wonder in the US. i mean i kinda like the car, but damn US reaction about this car ain't gunna be a good 1 at ALL. and they was thinking the same way when the brought the Monaro-badged Pontiac GTO. they was gunna have a US version of the GTO UTE. thank god they didn't.

  • Pontiac is still wasting time and money on useless cars and trucks. Try building an affordable Prius with a sunroof.

Maybe that asking to much of GM.

  • If you didn't know, Pontiac is GM's "excitement" division. If you look at Chevy, they have some new cars that have decent milage. Oh, and the Prius is fucking ugly, i'd rather get a Civic Hybrid

  • What a piece of junk!

  • GM announced this week that the name will remain G8 ST

  • its called a UTE!!

  • thats no sport truck! the chevy 454 ss is a sport truck. that piece of shit isnt even a truck

  • ummmm, the Chevy(Pontiac)ElCameno... Upgrade.. ;-) I wont be buying one, but hey its great!!!

  • This truck (or as we aussies know it as, a UTE) is great. it probably won't change to much before release in the states because it's exactly the same as the aussie one. And for Construction workers there perfect for throwing your tools in the back of it.

but it's like thhe F350's that are for sale in Australia brand new.

Nobody buys them because the cost so much more to run....

  • Ford ought to rebuild the ranchero. One like the 64 and put an Eco Boost V6 in it. If they made it look good and preform well with good mileage they would sell the hell out of them.

  • Nice but I wonder about the MPG. -__-;

  • a boat.. wooops

  • IT IS NOT A TRUCK!!!! Does it look big and bulky and handle like a boast... NO!! It's just like a sports car but with a ton of room in the back for your stuff.

  • Holden Ve Ute....Search it!

  • This is just the concept though, so I'll have to wait and see what the true production vehicle looks like before I can make up my mind. I like the side view, and the lines of the 'sport truck' but the front fascia disgusts me.

  • no that is what you will be getting. nothing will change other than the name. and yes the pontiac front end does look like shit compaired the the holden (australian) front end

  • I wouldn't be interested, but let's face it: this car will appeal to a lot of guys who fondly remember the Chevy El Camino and the Ford Ranchero.

  • man that is so uglier then the proper model, feel sorry for the guys

  • this is a holden ute just american name

  • El Camino? Caballero? Sprint? No, it will end up being a G8GTSUTLS2 or some other alphnumeric stupidity. Remember when cars had names?

  • who cares if it screams out redneck. nothing wrong aout that look around everyone has a little bit of redneck in them...if you don't think you do your probley the biggest redneck out of them all

  • Only a redneck would say that. LOL

  • it's amazing how american car makers still don't know what people are looking for in a car/truck. this car/truck will certainly kill your social life. it just screams "redneck" all over it

  • it should be called "redneckmobile"

  • and whats so redneck about a sedan based ute

  • if pontiac wanted to sell a few more cars they should leave the frontbar the same as on the holden because the pontiac stylists have got this one wrong. it looks like shit. they butchered the gto coupe aswell. you should be ashamed of your stylists Pontiac. good car but. cause its australian. thanks for the motor America. its one good thing you do. large capacity push rod V8's

  • GM's doin what FORD's been doin...you think they owned JAG, AstonMartin, Volvo, MAZDA, etc for nothing...technology is definitely what FORD has..GM's just getting the bandwagon to smarts.

  • who's over GM's marketing because there shooting themselves in the foot to not call this the El Camino...still a popular car here on the westcoast.

  • They should call it PONTIAC EL BANDITO

  • If GM wants these to sell, they should import them as a "new" Chevy El Camino. Just shows how out of touch GM management is.

  • WHO WILL AFFORD TO FILL IT WITH FUEL??

  • monitcarloo

  • GM is smart. They are doing what Ford hasn't. Using foreign models and technology under American brands. Opel and Holden are putting Saturn and Pontiac back on the map. Americans are getting tired of big cushy sedans and trucks. They want a change. They want Euro-savvy compacts and in the G8's case, a car that offers serious bang for your buck!

  • I'm sick of the aussies screaming its all australian! so what!! STFU already.

    here's the fact's guys:

it's 100% oz designed, really our first effort without opal support.

the engine bottom end is imported from the US, oz heads ect finish it off here.

We race these things (see v8 supercars) in australia, the refinment is awsome.

you get the same as our SS ALOT!! cheaper than we actually pay.

I have the VE SS, i love it its a rocket with style and handling but still a comfortable ride too.

  • i agree, i'm a aussie and who really cares !!!!

as you said GM is big banner.

I just can't handle every post bloody post is about "ITs an Aussie car"

  • holden v8 engines are full crate motors from the states.. ford are the only ones who build their v8 engines now from imported and local parts and v8 supercars has nothing to do with the production vehicles exept for the shell

  • As long as it doesn't turn out like Kath and Kym lol

  • the pontiac G8 sports truck is just a rebadged holden ute with a new bumper and stuff. They are made right here in AUSTRALIA!! at the Elizabeth Plant in South Australia and shipped off to yanks ville and destroyed to look like that.

  • i would definately buy one.

  • NEW CAMARO OWNS!!!!!

  • Lol yeh its a re-made HSV Maloo Ute. Its a ute not a truck lol. And these utes are NEVER used by tradys lol!! Its a hoon car ;). America gets the slow one though 0-100km/h in 5.4 the aus Maloo is 0-100 in under 5 secs :)

  • Its not a maloo, its a rebadged SS with a grill / bumper / hood to appeal to the amrecian market.

you guys in the USA should google GTS VE Commodore, to see the way we make them look!

  • Good point, though wouldn't the Maloo's be comming out of there also, under a different name? I know there going to arab countries.

  • Actually, the Pontiac G8 ST will be built in Australia, but thanks for your ignorant remarks.

  • owned hoe

  • wen will ford freakin understand dat gas is limited resource!

  • this aint a Ford buddy ! Ford dont make garbage like this and import it to america

  • Ford australia make an almost exact spec ute here too. I suggest you drive it before passing judgment.

  • its based on holden VE not a ford fool

  • Lol yeh Holden, not ford lol.

  • they sure don't! cause they make there garbage right here in the states!

  • Wow, a crippled truck/crippled car combo! It'll be a blast to fill that tank when gas is $4.35/gal...no thanks.

  • well.... gas here is $7.16/gal Not THAT big of a problem here for all the Porsches, M5s, S4s and Corvettes.

  • lol crippled, I don't think so...and unless you put your foot down they're quite economical.

  • When they say "can tow only...can carry only" that means crippled to me.

  • How many coupe/sports cars do you know can carry 2 motorcycles or help you move house? This isn't a workhorse, there are lesser varieties of the same model for that. It's an alternative sports vehicle.

  • I actually thought that the next ute/pick-up that the U.S. market will be getting would be given to the GMC brand. That was the news we got circulating in magazines over here in Sydney...
