Everyone who says that the Aussies are the best trained are incorrect. they just below the standard of what is expected of a US Marine, where as UK soldier are trained to the same level as US marines. The UK has the best equipment as it is all a hybrid of German and US tech. where as Aussies dont use hybrid tech. Aussies and the UK = best combo.

@lynxburst Are you stupid!? There is Cadets for the Air Force,Army and Navy; we use their equipment and use the same weapons. We even operate artillery guns and go parachuting for fuck sake.
@enzo12ify1 that is all well and good mate. but they arent legally recognized as part of the australian defence force, they do not receive qualifications as of their time in the cadets and are part of a separate organisation and therefore are not considered part of the army.
@MMArtist141 oh look, i recognize that you are an army endorsed organization, but not a defence endorsed one. cadets are recognized as cadets, not soldiers and not part of the defence force.
bloody good mix of aussie and us troops, one good fighting force. ahhaa dammit US i ask of u for one favour, say Aussie correctly, with the s's pronounced as Z.
The australian army is much smaller but much better financed. believe it or not aussie infantry are trained to the standard of US navy seals. Australian and british SAS are the most elite special forces in the world. its simply because not many people sign up so there is plenty of money and training to invest in each soldier.
@braytex We are not trained on a Seals standard but close to the marines training ,Seals are a whole new ball park. They are very elite and on par with Spetsnaz ,SASR/SAS is the next step up and training expectations are alot higher. Yeah mate we are above average but not on par with Seals
The kit available to the Australian Army is actually pretty decent. Each soilder gets standard issue one-eye piece night vision monocle (admittedley not as good as US goggle version). Can all my fellow Australians stop knocking the US,yes we have very good soldiers and helped out many countrys like the UK,France and USA ect ect.But without the help of the yanks ww2 could have been alot worse.Anyway this is a very good video as Australia and America are very close allies now.Australia,Usa,NZ,UK and Canada is unstopable and the best force ever.I say FORCE becouse i think of us all as a WHOLE.God bless us all!!!
@assassinwarz these are facts supported by what? the Marines are notorious for getting second rate equipment, leftovers. Have you trained with any military? Much less both of these military's? Doubt it.
@assassinwarz USMC doen't have the best equipment, they are pretty basic, which is why they train with our diggers sometimes, 'cause in serious war, both have to do more with less.
Great to see the boys getting the training done, they do that up at Shoalwater Bay which is north of Rockhampton, Qld. Every 2 years the boys come in from the US & the Australian forces. Live in Rocky between 98 till 2006 & saw both 2003 & 2005 exercises & the guys were true gentlemen. Meet a fantastic US Marine Corporal in 2003 but in 2005 on his 2nd tour of Iraq died by an IED while transporting fellow soliders to another area. R.I.P. "BEAR", Louisiana.....Kiwii/Australian /British gal
too right mate. As the fucking amanzingly awesome US Marine General James Mattis said about the Australians "Me and my marines would happily storm hell with ur troops (the Aussies) on our left flank.
I don't know why such arguements have to arise in these videos, I don't really think it matters who fights the best, the blokes out their in the war dont give a crap who fights the best, their just doing their job and trying to survive.
It is the governments fault but remember they represent the people. Can the Australian people stomach the casualties that will be incurred if the government allowed the ADF to help out in Afghanistan and Iraq in earnest? And that is entirely my point. And it is for that reason that your average US soldier has considerably more real world experience.
And let it be known that when I'm talking about combat experience I'm talking about today, not 60 years ago. There are less than 200 Aussies deployed to Iraq, and even when there 2000 of them, they didn't do much besides offer logistical support and rarely stepped outside of their FOB. It's kind of hard to listen to EVLAUDI's tripe when the Aussies in theater don't do anything. Now before you get your prick in a knot, I blame the government, not the diggers, for this.
Fair go mate...Your very own Strategic Studies Institute has confirmed that the quality of training, equipment and the military culture of the Australian contribution in Iraq allowed it to have a disproportionate influence in Iraq for its size.
Who was it that led the charge into Iraq...I'm not sure the SAS boys would agree that they didn't do anything.
P.S Fun fact, the Aussie SAS I believe have the first Javelin combat use in 2003...that's got to count for something :p
I am not slating the quality of training, equipment, or your military culture. But I am taking a poke at your civilian leadership who makes your boys deploy for 6 months and rarely lets them out of their cage. As far as leading the charge into Iraq, it was the CIA and the USAF combat controllers who were in first, not Aussie SASR, despite dick waving nationalist protests to the contrary. Can you provide sources for your fun facts?
well mate its really hard 2 get facts about the sasr cause everything they do is secret. but they were there first 2 destroy comunications and designate targets for airstrikes. i know a sas trooper!!!
The new government is more of a joke. Scrapped any regional power projection capability of the ADF right now so god help the Pacific if theres another East Timor. The new Minister of Defense is a bloody automotive electrician with no military background.
How did we show up late in a war that had nothing to do with us until Pearl Harbor? We get a ration of shit for being isolationists 60 years ago, and we get it for being interventionalists today. The reason you fought the Japanese and Germans first is because they were on your doorstep. And if we decided to stay out of the war in the Pacific, what the hell do you think would have happened to Australia?
I do believe however, that the US military takes a more holistic approach to warfare than any other army out there. Taking the hill is only one small part of a military operation. Logistics is paramount. So is integrating other units and branches of service into one fighting force. It is these two things that the US military does better than anyone.
mate. if you people (excluding the ones with a descent thing to say) were truly auzzies then u woyld know about the good old tradition of 'fair go'. im an auzzie god damn proud of it and god damn proud of having the yanks on our side too. i bet ya any money those blokes could take you one on one and yet you still talk shit on the net. no respect especially for a country that saved our asses in world war 2 in case ur forgetting that! if u dnt like it. dnt watch their movies or music or technology
"mate" if you are Aussie than you would know that we put shit on the world i mean fuck we put shit on each other its the Aussie way. How many other country's natives greet each other with "Hi dickhead" we greet with a insult fair go mate! i too am a proud Aussie and i too have served in the Australian Army and i have been on the piss many a times with the Yanks down at the boozer they are great but i have seen them in action (well training) and well if it was not for all the flash gear..........
It's funny, the only time I hear the "we're better trained" crap is on the internet. Never once when I trained with foreign troops did I come across an "I'm better than you" attitude. We have the best training centers in the world, and put combat units through them regularly. We also have considerably more experience than our Australian counterparts.
I can obviously tell that your a yank, an educated person would know that the US would be up shit creek if it wasnt for Australia, and vice versa. Our Army has the toughest gurrilla tactics in the world and the US Army cant compare, however the US Marines are right up there. As an Aussie i will always have great respect for the US and its forces, but how do you have more experience in Australasia, we were fighting the Japs long before the US steped in.
The Japanese weren't fighting any western nation until after the attack on pearl harbor, so there goes that argument. All NATO armies have the same tactics, and as far as current experience goes, the US has more of it in it's little finger than the Aussies, who go on patrol only when the planets align.
Australia, New Zealand and Brittian were fighting the japs before the attack on perl harbour. As the Japs were on the war path to australia, Brittain left the battle and the ANZACs held the Japs at port Moresby for 5 weeks before the US got involved.
Interesting, but can you provide a link? As for the British, besides a very minimal effort in the pacific all they did was protect their empire in Burma. What point are you trying to make by bringing up WW2?
They were happy to fight anyone, that is why attacked several nations at once during the Pacific War.. They wanted Port Moresby to help provide an outer defence. Don't get too carried away..
Sorry i do have 2 disagree. The only reason the US is good at what they do out in the field is all the high tech shit they have. Aussie's would stay away from yanks in vietnam they were to non tac really u can think whatever ya want but from what i have seen with my own eyes my opinion is we are better trained i mean fuck half ya force is filled by criminals who didnt want to do jail time great reward u have been bad have a gun sorry if that hits ya nerve but its my 2 cents take it of leave it.
The individual US soldier is not any better equipped than his aussie counterparts. It's not like we have laser beams attached to our heads. And your assertion that our half our army is filled with criminals leads me to question your service us and even the ADF. The people who join the army are a direct representation of US society as a whole. The army is overwhelmingly middle class suburban boys, not ex cons.
For all of you talking down on the USMC, 1st of all I have the utmost respect for the Australians, you have a fine military tradition and one of my friends is in ur army. Consider this though, the USMC has had more of an effect on international affairs/has more of a history than the entire Australian military.
Guys I was in the Australian Army and I worked with the seppo's on numerous occasious - they (the seppo's) are professional - we are to - there is no - we are better then you ' type' shit going on. Just two professional mobs doing what we do. They have funky gear - maybe we have better small unit tactics, but really it's the agument is pointless.
Two of the worlds professional fighting forces working together - who's arse can't we kick?
I agree completely. I'm former US Army and I thought the aussies were great guys. I found that they were better at small unit tactics and operating at the platoon and company level, whereas US forces have a sounder grasp of combined arms maneuvers and overall jointness among the 4 branches. Although the difference has more to do with size and funding than anything else.
Aussie troops got the nickname diggers in World War One because when they dug in they were never moved whether at Gallipoli (where the term originated) or in France. The Kiwi's occasionally use the term as well but not as much.
the two groups should have fought each other in a war game, then we would have seen if your little fact was remark, heres a proven fact "the most dangerous weapon is a U.S. Marine and his rifle
God I thought Americans were meant to hate communists and terrorists which is a good thing and now we have a baker boy downplaying one of their closest allies
nope i can back this up i was there all you do is hear what the Yanks have been up to and shake your head all day. The Yanks have people who's whole job is to change the tyres on a truck or the front brake of a F-18 where a Aust soldier is multi skilled they go out on ex with a estimated DEATH count they truly are hopeless i have seen it with my own eyes
Yeah im backin the aussies on this one. anyone that falls for the "hoop snake" and "drop bear" routine clearly has no idea about anything. its the little things that make us just that much better
yeah well i have meet few and ones job was to change the brakes on a Fighter plane the other his whole job was to check the hoses leading to the ejection seat on a fighter that was there whole job. You can have "specialised" and still be multi skilled
that guy who said goofing off is australian and he will always be every military goof off once and away have a party and have fun it's not all taking order etc
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Marines are girl scouts as for the M16 its a peice of crap in nam and its a peice of crap now its 3kg and your soldiers test it say its too heavy us Aussies use the Steyr Aug F99 and that is a hell of alot more accurate and reliable than the M16 or any of its variants. Take it from someone who just has to pass the fitness test for Rifleman on that .
good fighting force yes but I have a fare few mates in the marines so what I have said is based on my mates experiences and mine with him. The F99 is a steyr with a longer barrel or its the F89 but the standard model is the F88
No wait the F99 is a PDW my bad I know so many weapons I get some mixed up but other than that the F88 Austeyre is a beauty the Minimi is awesome I only hope we get the FN Mk 48 thats a mean LSW.
Haha your a fucking knob jokey, heres the truth, the F88 has durability due to the good ol' Belg receiver, apart from that it has nothing over the m16A4, the m16A4 has a) better accuracy (its nearly the most accurate aussault rifle for 5.56mm NATO's out there), the m16 also has a higher rate of fire and has SOPMOD, also, you do realise that in boot, all US soldiers wether marine or army train with m-14's so that they learn how to use heavy rifles with large recoil. You know nothing
Man I live right where Talisman sabre happens, good ol Rockhampton queensland.. we get swamped with yanks its pretty funny..The marines are awsome tho i will say
I love seeing Australia and the US so close together. Unlike our other allies *cough* the UK, Australia doesnt hate the US even though we are allies. I can see Australia being key allies with us.
Proud to be an Aussie.

The individual US soldier is not any better equipped than his aussie counterparts. It's not like we have laser beams attached to our heads. And your assertion that our half our army is filled with criminals leads me to question your service us and even the ADF. The people who join the army are a direct representation of US society as a whole. The army is overwhelmingly middle class suburban boys, not ex cons.
m60jack 3 years ago
Ok go up to any SOF in the US , and ask what they think about the Australian SASR and you will be shocked
blakeblake321 2 years ago
For all of you talking down on the USMC, 1st of all I have the utmost respect for the Australians, you have a fine military tradition and one of my friends is in ur army. Consider this though, the USMC has had more of an effect on international affairs/has more of a history than the entire Australian military.
whoosie22 3 years ago
Guys I was in the Australian Army and I worked with the seppo's on numerous occasious - they (the seppo's) are professional - we are to - there is no - we are better then you ' type' shit going on. Just two professional mobs doing what we do. They have funky gear - maybe we have better small unit tactics, but really it's the agument is pointless.
Two of the worlds professional fighting forces working together - who's arse can't we kick?
JediAub 3 years ago 5
I agree completely. I'm former US Army and I thought the aussies were great guys. I found that they were better at small unit tactics and operating at the platoon and company level, whereas US forces have a sounder grasp of combined arms maneuvers and overall jointness among the 4 branches. Although the difference has more to do with size and funding than anything else.

american really should say Auzzies instead of Aussies

this is AWSOME! what are diggers though? are they infantry, or combat engineers? huh? just wondering.
CaptainAmerica322 3 years ago
Aussie troops got the nickname diggers in World War One because when they dug in they were never moved whether at Gallipoli (where the term originated) or in France. The Kiwi's occasionally use the term as well but not as much.
gnarkillkicksass 3 years ago
@CaptainAmerica322
Diggers is the nickname for all Aussie soldiers. It's because of all the trenches they dug in Gallipoli in WWI.

Drop bears

the two groups should have fought each other in a war game, then we would have seen if your little fact was remark, heres a proven fact "the most dangerous weapon is a U.S. Marine and his rifle
75ranger101 3 years ago
God I thought Americans were meant to hate communists and terrorists which is a good thing and now we have a baker boy downplaying one of their closest allies
Unit437 3 years ago
75ranger i hope you arnt in the army, that comment is the wrong attitude for the army, teamwork and respect.

USMC guys are great but their field at SWB was on par to the chockos.
gnarkillkicksass 3 years ago
The Aussie digger is by far the better soldier. Man for man. Bayonet for bayonet.

Everyone thinks they're the best...you can compare all day long and you'll never come to a definite answer.
Wolfenstein1944 3 years ago 5
nope i can back this up i was there all you do is hear what the Yanks have been up to and shake your head all day. The Yanks have people who's whole job is to change the tyres on a truck or the front brake of a F-18 where a Aust soldier is multi skilled they go out on ex with a estimated DEATH count they truly are hopeless i have seen it with my own eyes

Wolfenstein1944 3 years ago
Yeah im backin the aussies on this one. anyone that falls for the "hoop snake" and "drop bear" routine clearly has no idea about anything. its the little things that make us just that much better
BlackAdoni 3 years ago 2
dead right mate.
kmanshuffler 3 years ago
We don't have any tire changers in our military. Yes, in many cases we are more specialised, but not to that ridiculous degree.
m60jack 3 years ago
yeah well i have meet few and ones job was to change the brakes on a Fighter plane the other his whole job was to check the hoses leading to the ejection seat on a fighter that was there whole job. You can have "specialised" and still be multi skilled
EVLAUDI 3 years ago
That might have been their job for the day, or the week, but there is no such thing as a break changer MOS in the USAF.
m60jack 3 years ago
as a neutral whos worked with both sorry to say but them Aussies are bloody good soldiers

Gbangerboy 3 years ago
mate its called the F88 austeyr
DutyFirst26 3 years ago 2
dutyfirst is right its f88 and the marines are a good fighting force
xxfuryshotxx 3 years ago
good fighting force yes but I have a fare few mates in the marines so what I have said is based on my mates experiences and mine with him. The F99 is a steyr with a longer barrel or its the F89 but the standard model is the F88
Gbangerboy 3 years ago
No, the F89 is our version of the FN M249 SAW. The F88 is the F88, end of. There is no F99.
rossmum 3 years ago
No wait the F99 is a PDW my bad I know so many weapons I get some mixed up but other than that the F88 Austeyre is a beauty the Minimi is awesome I only hope we get the FN Mk 48 thats a mean LSW.
AusSnipe 3 years ago
your a knob... simple as that
tiBbLeX 3 years ago 2
Haha your a fucking knob jokey, heres the truth, the F88 has durability due to the good ol' Belg receiver, apart from that it has nothing over the m16A4, the m16A4 has a) better accuracy (its nearly the most accurate aussault rifle for 5.56mm NATO's out there), the m16 also has a higher rate of fire and has SOPMOD, also, you do realise that in boot, all US soldiers wether marine or army train with m-14's so that they learn how to use heavy rifles with large recoil. You know nothing
carcass1991 3 years ago
I'm guessing you never made it in considering you don't even know the basic weapon...
