Hey buddy dose it hurt when you sit or walk I have one also in my tailbone after watching us vids I'm scared cuz I don't want a hole like that . I tough they only poke it with like a neddle
i had to remove a pilonidal cyst it has been 2month already and i didnt have alot pain but it looks painfull but not dat seriouly painfull if you have one plz remove it go see a surgent i had 5 drainage before i had surgery it crazy bacuase it annoying it better to remove it...thanks for the video and when doing the packing use glove..
i had this done 2 years ago by far the most painful experience of my life cant sit or bend it sucked balls not to mention the pain i was in before the sergery
I had my surgery ~12 years ago and thankfully have had no problems since. I was back at work in around 3 weeks and the recovery too around 3 months. I didn't go through the packing process, instead a binary liquid was mixed together and pored into the hole and which formed a plastic plug in about 30 seconds. There was a little heat but not too much discomfort (i was very lucky and had limited pain throughout). When you took the plug out you got see how big the hole was which was freaking scary.
I have been having this for 4 years and I´m going on my 5th operation! Is there any treatment to make it go??? I already go to hower everyday, but I think its cuz I smoke...
Oh man, I have one of them and have done for 10 years but to scared to get it removed, after what i have heard, effects my every day life from sitting to long on hard chair, to bike riding, the gym taking holidays and the list goes on and on and on and now watching that just confirms I Definitly ain't keen on having it out!! Holy **** ! I also have one in my groin so god only knows how that one is sorted out! And don't want to no either as my gp said that's a nasty op! Where as the arse one is o
I had my surgery over a year ago, and I feel bad for anyone who has a pilonidal cyst. I asked my doctor is they could stich me up after the surgery, and they did. I have a big scar now, but didn't have to do the packing. If you're going through this, you may want to ask about getting sewed up
I had one of these removed from my tailbone 30 years ago. The infection times were horrific compared to the surgery to remove it. After care was no fun, either, it had to be carefully cleaned and repacked everyday. It can't be stitched back together, because you can't have another pocket under the skin. It is an ugly scar for sure.
Wow! That's EXACTLY what my wound looks like! I'm currently having the aquacel stuff packed in there at the moment. Did yours ever hurt? I have a huge wound like yours and it's totally painless. It didn't hurt before the surgery either. I got rid of it just because I was fed up with a tiny hole that would never heal but always leak a bit of fluid! Oh, and how long was it before the skin finally closed up?
Very interesting video. How long did it take to heal and did it ever come back? Thank you for posting what must have been a horrible experience. I see you have over 188,000 hits.
ugh, mine drained spontaneously at work too. i had had this thing for years, not knowing what it was until it became super inflamed and swollen to the size of twice a golf ball. when i drained at work, in the bathroom, it was under so much pressure, the drainage shot across the bathroom, and arced up the wall. 6 - 8 feet. horror show.
i had this done, oh 2002 or so. then too, they allowed the wound to heal from the inside out, but i picked up a staph infection at the hospital. i had difficulty getting to a doctor to get it diagnosed (the surgeon claimed ignorance of what the infection was.)
and i ended up being out of the office for three weeks, and lost 30+ pounds. no one told me not to soak in the tub, and since the wound was open the infection then found its way onto the surface of my skin. nasty nasty business.
I know how it feels, I've just come out of hospital after having such a surgery yesterday. It was the second surgery there within two months. You would not even wish your worst enemy such a painful healing process.
i had this op last year it was the second time i had the op and the second one was more painful but mine got badly infected i couldnt work for 1 year after i was still getting it packed. the main reason it took so long for mine to heal was because when i sat down 2 weeks after my op it ripped open down to the coccyx. then it got badly infected the main reason it takes so long for this to heal is because the area it is because it rubs when you do everything
how long have you had it I have it for at lest 3 years and I need surgery again pluse thay are saying they might youse some robot thing to attach to my ass like I can still walk around but its attached to me lol wel yea
I've been having this since 2007 and went to my third operation in nov 2010 and now its bothering me again i had to go to the doctor today. I was wondering, since I smoke, so does it affect the pilonidal sinus?

2 years ago i had an operation and now it has come back, this is what im due to get done and after seeing this im bloody terrified!!! it looks so sore. does the hole get any smaller??xx
My Dad (aged 70) had this op done today. Its "very common in men of ALL ages" the nurse said. It's mainly caused by hair in butt crack. Dad was in theatre 1 hour and under general anaesthetic and allowed home within 3 hours. A district nurse is sent out to you to "pack and dress the wound".
ive had two of these, one where this is about the same size too,and one on the back of my neck, i thought i was fairly tough with a reasonably high pain threshhold, ..Im not and i havent,..repacked every day for weeks, i cant explain the pain and indignity ,reduced me to tears on more than one occasion, and it leaves a dreadful scar, so i have the uttermost sympathy sir, good luck mate.
Wow man, kudos to you for making it through that. I had a marsupialization done on mine, but there wasn't a cratered open sore on the surface like that. I had five or six pits and the cyst was about the size of a golf ball.
Hi, i just discovered that i got a sinus pionidal "thing" near my anus and its been there for like 3 months but its not affecting me at all and theres no blood or strange liquid from it, i need an operation ?
hey man i know just what your going through i had mine removed november 9th and yes it blows not showering sleeping on stomach no sitting the pain and omg it sucks so im very glad to hear you heal up alright. gl in the future
I feel for you, I got one removed back in Oct 2001 and had to pack it as could be seen in your video. Did your doctor require you to do either a fresh water or a salt water sit bath?
i had surgery for pilonidal sinus on 23 august 2010, and now when i was about to heal properly another infection came, first doc thought that pilonidal sinus is starting again but after med test we found out that when i was in hospital i aquired some gram bacteria from the hospital when i was admitted and it is the source this time, this bacteria is resistant to most of the antibiotics now i am taking linezolid antibiotic and its much better only in 3 days. anyone want any information contact me
I had that a bout 4 years ago, mine wasn't stitched up either as many say that is the best way because it heals from inside and works its way toward the surface. The best decision i had. plus had a nurse that came to my house to change it ( THANK GOD SHE WAS HOT:P, she was so hot that I hated that i have to show my butt to her every frikin day!! ). now it has been 4 years and it hasn't come back yet , and i am still searching for that nurse so i can thank her ! or maybe take her out for coffee!
Part 2-I never had any problems with it until I worked at a very physical job. After it had healed a year previous, it opened briefly at work, and it bled a little. Since then I've had no problems. The weird thing is that sometimes I have a phantom itch in that area. I'll go to scratch it, but I can't because that skin is gone. It's a horrible sensation.
Part 1-I had this done in 1990. I was horrified the first time I had to clean it; it seemed like such a large gash. I had to soak in a really hot bath once a day, and I had to change the dressing every couple of hours the first couple of weeks. I healed slowly to the point where I had to change the dressing less and less.
I've had this op done about 4 months ago and the wound has finally closed to about pea size. It is not nice and makes sitting down very uncomfortable. It got infected just a day after I was released home from the hospital. Not nice at all. After antibiotics, it started healing.
I had one in High School, They glued me shut, however i had a Drain put in that i had to have removed 2 weeks later as it healed. made it hard to sleep when you get ass wound juice everywere when it leaked.
hiya i am goin 4 this op next week, pionidal sinus and cyst removal, is this the same as wot u had?? i am pretty scared, how long about does it take 2 get bk 2 work afta op, docs just say, they dont no, all depends how it goes, and b honest how painfull is it, and wot really worries me is goin 2 the toilet, my plan is 2 not eat anything solid that needs 2 digest. any tips on gettin thru the op plz
I am out of Hospital since yesterday now, yesterady I took the first look at the open excision and thought, omg why did they let me go ^^
I read sealing the wound is dangerous because there is a certain chance of leaving empty spaces with a high rate of getting another infection.
as for the cleaning, the doc ordered me to take at least 3 showers a day including chang of the bandage, but there is not as much to do as shown in the Video, i've only sterile mull and some net Boxers to keep it there.
I've just had an operation to remove a PS. Not quite as big as that though. Also, as I'm going to Uni in september, it was imperitive that it healed in 8 weeks, so I have been on a Vacuum pack for the last week.
Do you have the measurement of yours? Mine was (to start) 10cm (l) by 2cm (w) by 3cm (d). Healed 1 CM in length and 0.5cm in depth in 4 days with the pack, but it's getting switched next week. =/
Hi, I had operation for same Pilonidal sinus 1 month before in UK but I recover everything Now I am normal.Doctors sealed my wound .I dont know why ur wound open for long duration. Please ask from ur doctor should be they have to seal the would.2-3 weeks takes to recover them after operation.
@sweetylibra2010 Sealing the wound is not a good idea. The way a sealed cyst heals can trap bacteria and re-infect it. Open healing allows tissue to rebuild from the inside out, and takes about the same amount of time for recovery. It just looks more gross.

I've had two operations for exactly the same thing but my wound wasn't as bad as yours mate. Anyone who hasn't had it doesn't know how lucky they are.
Really shocking yes! Shocking that throughout this whole procedure no gloves were worn and rings were worn on at least 2 fingers. That is just asking for infection.
I have just had this operation done and would not allow anyone to touch me with out sterile gloves. Hope it has now healed OK.
@cskenya Hi, my partner is packing the wound and we were both more than satisfied with our 'scrub-up' routine. I realise this is not to everyones satisfaction but I am fully healed now, and had no infections. Maybe it was just luck..... but thanks anyway for your concerns :)
It does go away...had mine done now for 13 years and didnt come back. The doc had to perform the surgery and get the root of it so it will not come back and once healed you ill have no problems, ya back to normal again.
how do you get shit like this?? this is both amazing and disgusting at the same time.... lol is that on your ass??man this shit blows my mind!! haha i must sound like a retard
i have this...just got mine removed two days ago....what a pain in my ass haha!! cant believe im makin jokes about it. seriously though, its so brutal. i feel like one big vicodin pill with a hole in my ass
@TheClycol he cames from the doc. they did it, to remove the abces if i'm right, but i will tell this, its useless, it will take a long time, to lett your body restore it and close that thing. but when its closed, it will come back -.- and then he/she have to open it again,.
I have it now as well, they stitched me, but now the stitches were removed and the whole wound opened. I panicked firsts, but now I know that It's even better left open and treated accordingly ;)
Well isn't that a glorious place for a cyst. My boyfriend had this done to him about two weeks ago. I can't even begin to imagine how painful that must be. Glad you're alright.
I just found out that I have this disease, and I'm afraid to get the surgery because I am such an active person I don't want to be in this state for months, how long did it take to heal?
Hi, mine took around 4-5 months to totally heal. But you have to remember, this NEVER goes away on it's own! It may flare up and then die down....... but the longer it is left, the longer the 'tunnels' get below the surface of the skin. This in turn increases the size of the removal. IMHO getting the surgery was always a good decision, and I've had these removed several times now :-( Hope this helps.
@cassieorr This is not a disease, it is a cyst, and it sucks, if you are unsure of having the surgery, yours obviously wasnt as painful as mine was...I couldnt wait to get it out! My doctors cut mine open and drained it 4 times before removing it, it just kept coming back.
im goin to have mine removed on the 17th febuary..will b glad to get rid of it ..mine has been there for a year following coccyx surgery removal ..very painfull
i had mine done 5years ago.... i need surgrey for it.... i have a 5inch scar and i wasnt able to sit on my ass for a good 6months without having any pain
at this moment im at the hospital recovering from my sinus pilodinal surgery , but i have a Vaccum machine to speed up the wound closure im nervous, but hopefully everything will be allright
I just learned about this disease and I'm freaking out, I spend many hours a day sitting down and I surely don't want to get another anus, or a vagina in my back!. If I'm sitting in something comfy, like a pillow, or a cushion. Can this happen anyways?
Wow! My brother had the same thing a few years back and I thought his was bad. He was young and would scream in pain when they dressed it etc. His looks no where near as bas as yours but still having a hole in your back is just dreadful. God bless!
Honestly, it looks far worse than it feels! If you're having surgery for one of these, you know how painful 'that feeling' is...... it's nowhere near as bad as that. If you want to ask any questions feel free to pm me.
I had mine for about 2 years!!! It was a big pain thats for sure!!! I was happy to get that damm thing taken out.... The drainage and the pain is what really sucked... I had mine stitched it was not totally healed after the stiches got taken out but it did help because it would have taken twice as long for it to totally heal... I had the stitches in for about 21 days!!!!!
I had my pilonidal cyst about 2 years ago. Scared the shit out of me! I was at work using the toilet, went to wipe and blood was everywhere! Stuck it out the rest of my shift and boogied on to the hospital to have it completely drained/cleaned. Haven't had to have it drained again yet, thank god. I have a dimple there now, though, from where it had popped on its own.
Im dealing with that same shit right now, mines unfortunetly a little lower. They removed it, sewed it up, took the stitches out 15 days later and the wound just flowered back open. They said itll take about a month to close...its been about 3 weeks and nothing happened yet...and I gotta get mine packed everyday too. And they put silver in it.
i just noticed i had one about 3 days ago, first i thought my tailbone was broken for no reason. mines lower too, but its very small but very painful!
The laugh with mine was that when I went to see the doctor, I figured it would lead to another visit, perhaps to the hospital. Because of that I had not eaten well, and was totally shocked when he said he would take it out right there. The other humorous event was while working in a hospital and listening to an Indian doctor describing this to someone on the phone as a "ziT on the buTT". Yes, the pronounced "T's".
Glad you're feeling better. I hope it hasn't, nor will it come back. I had one too, but I caught it very early. I got to see what came out. It was somewhere between the size of a pea and a small marble, and actually looked like a hairy eyeball. EeeeeW!!!! I though they only were in the back, but now am wondering if another lump/infection on the back of my knee was also one. I had it for 15 years before removal.
I had mine removed about a year ago. it was the best thing that i have ever done. Meaning having the surgery. I have a nasty scar but it is so much better than living with the constant pain of the cyst. Thanks for the video i was wondering what it looked like since i really couldnt see mine.
Mom, I feel your pain! My son is now on his 3rd surgery and has had a wound vac applied.....I am soooo hoping this it the end of a 2 year nightmare. Best of luck! Hugs, Donna
OMG they left it open?! Why would they do that? It seems so dangerous! They closed mine shut afterwards and I had what I can only describe as a pain relieving balloon with a tube going into the stitches to keep it from hurting so bad. I asked to see the cyst after the surgery and it was a little bit bigger then a golf ball. Now I have a scar, but it gets better every year. I haven't has any problems since. I had the surgery back in 2005. I hope it worked out for you.
i had one of these, it hurt so bad. i had it removed when i was 13 and im 17 now. its healed but like every now and then it gets infected and infection oozzes out :(

It's a horrible sensation.
samsmutt 1 year ago
Part 1-I had this done in 1990. I was horrified the first time I had to clean it; it seemed like such a large gash. I had to soak in a really hot bath once a day, and I had to change the dressing every couple of hours the first couple of weeks. I healed slowly to the point where I had to change the dressing less and less.

I've had this op done about 4 months ago and the wound has finally closed to about pea size. It is not nice and makes sitting down very uncomfortable. It got infected just a day after I was released home from the hospital. Not nice at all. After antibiotics, it started healing.

hiya i am goin 4 this op next week, pionidal sinus and cyst removal, is this the same as wot u had?? i am pretty scared, how long about does it take 2 get bk 2 work afta op, docs just say, they dont no, all depends how it goes, and b honest how painfull is it, and wot really worries me is goin 2 the toilet, my plan is 2 not eat anything solid that needs 2 digest. any tips on gettin thru the op plz

Please ask from ur doctor should be they have to seal the would.2-3 weeks takes to recover them after operation.
sweetylibra2010 1 year ago
@sweetylibra2010 Sealing the wound is not a good idea. The way a sealed cyst heals can trap bacteria and re-infect it. Open healing allows tissue to rebuild from the inside out, and takes about the same amount of time for recovery. It just looks more gross.

Really shocking yes! Shocking that throughout this whole procedure no gloves were worn and rings were worn on at least 2 fingers. That is just asking for infection.
I have just had this operation done and would not allow anyone to touch me with out sterile gloves. Hope it has now healed OK.
cskenya 1 year ago 10
@cskenya Hi, my partner is packing the wound and we were both more than satisfied with our 'scrub-up' routine. I realise this is not to everyones satisfaction but I am fully healed now, and had no infections. Maybe it was just luck..... but thanks anyway for your concerns :)
reallyshocking 1 year ago
It does go away...had mine done now for 13 years and didnt come back. The doc had to perform the surgery and get the root of it so it will not come back and once healed you ill have no problems, ya back to normal again.

@TheClycol he cames from the doc. they did it, to remove the abces if i'm right, but i will tell this, its useless, it will take a long time, to lett your body restore it and close that thing. but when its closed, it will come back -.- and then he/she have to open it again,.

I just found out that I have this disease, and I'm afraid to get the surgery because I am such an active person I don't want to be in this state for months, how long did it take to heal?
cassieorr 2 years ago
Hi, mine took around 4-5 months to totally heal. But you have to remember, this NEVER goes away on it's own! It may flare up and then die down....... but the longer it is left, the longer the 'tunnels' get below the surface of the skin. This in turn increases the size of the removal. IMHO getting the surgery was always a good decision, and I've had these removed several times now :-( Hope this helps.
reallyshocking 2 years ago
i had it.. and i'm a soldier.. so I went being inactive for 3 months. it sucks.. but it's worth it.
MrOhWell 2 years ago
@cassieorr This is not a disease, it is a cyst, and it sucks, if you are unsure of having the surgery, yours obviously wasnt as painful as mine was...I couldnt wait to get it out! My doctors cut mine open and drained it 4 times before removing it, it just kept coming back.

84953 2 years ago
I had mine removed about a year ago. it was the best thing that i have ever done. Meaning having the surgery. I have a nasty scar but it is so much better than living with the constant pain of the cyst. Thanks for the video i was wondering what it looked like since i really couldnt see mine.
JasonPowers87 2 years ago
It depends on the size and the location of the cyst as to the eventual treatment.
5 years of my life was lost to mis diagnosis with a similar outcome here.
In every case, the treatment is better than than living with this condition.
Looks like a neat job, I know you will get better.
