i love the fact fifth gear test bikes i would watch every episode if they made a show and it was just motorbikes reveiwed and tested done in a top gear / fifth gear way
what a noob tiff was, got balls but no brains (when biking). Kept his head centreline and body shifted towards the inside corner. It had nothing to do with the track surface. Where as he shouldve tried getting his head near the floor, then his knee.
Thanks for that. I do like the look of that blue bike. It's a Honda CBR 954RR. I have heard the Honda's are very user friendly, ie, easy to ride, especially the Fireblade. Is that true anyone?
yes it is, I owned one and had an R1 before that, the fireblades riding position is very comfy and the power won't get you into trouble like an R1, you to rev it more, the result being you always know where your at with it, ie: no surprises, handles brilliantly and doesn't need a sterring damper, my two cents worth.
I was just looking through my inbox and came across this post which I hadn't answered! Sorry about that I must have missed it. A few guys have recommended the fireblade now and I'll have to take a look at one. Also, I've heard an R1 will do 100mph in 1st gear! Is that true?
i got a gsxr 400 (old school i know) only got my full access due to being 20 but i have no restrictor and the bike has a few goodies like race cams and a full race exhaust system some guys reckon its in 600 territory for power/speed anyone think this is true?
There's no way someone should start on a 600. EVER. Once you've learnt and ridden 125, and 250, then maybe yeah. Starting off straight away on a 600 should NEVER happen. Especially a track orientated bike like an RR.
They are. Vicki OWNS a motorcycle already, and Tiff has ridden motorcycles before and from what I can tell, kneedown virginal status aside, he is a decent rider (refer to Top Gear V-Rod video). 600s have twitchy steering, and a top end whack of power that makes them more difficult to start out on for the new rider. Riding skills have been shown to progress faster with small increases in displacement and a small starting point. :)
I only know that vicki rode and owns a ducati. Cliff is another story, sorry about that lack of knowledge. You are right about starting on 600's but i started out on a cbr600rr 06 learned on it(without help from anyone) but the most important thing about that is that i was wearing gear. Start small and your good but i'll tell you what riders start big or middle class and that is what 250cc bikes looks decent enough to ride? a kawasaki 250 =/. Just be smart about it.
I do ride a bike actually :-) And am probably one of the only people who wears a back protector when they ride! Anyway, one thing I've heard is that "learning to ride a BIKE, or to RIDE a bike" if its the former - even a Hayabusa will do, if its the latter then tis better to indeed start small. Plus Tiff has experience in cars that accelerate almost as fast as motorcycles (ie. Mac F1), that Im sure do at least something to ease the transition.
Well frankly its so bloody hot these days that commuting to work at least, I don't even bother! I only wear it now when I'm going on a serious ride. But apart from me, I know NO ONE that wears one - even on the track!!! Corse, the people I know could just not really be familiar w/ back protectors or something...but round here, from what I can tell (looking for the telltale bulge in back of jacket and just seeing ppl), most don't wear them.
What the fuck is up with the sound?!

600cc tough to ride lol - used to have a CBR600 - got rid of it after a year for a Bird.
If you wanna start on a 600cc go for it - The CBR600RR is the best in its class - - plenty of power -great handling and very user friendly.

I know people who started on litre sports, and some of them are still alive. I started on Bandit 600, though.

very nice. And people say 600's are tough bikes to start out in.
