@mudvaynefan2182 It was just a normal Q-tip. You can either use a Q-tip or even a rubber eraser to remove the black paint on the surface. And it'll be easy to remove since the black ink was diluted with thinner.
@JunoUnit Hm, I've tried using an eraser before and it didn't work all that well except on spots where the ink smeared. Also tried a Q-tip and it just smeared it.
@mudvaynefan2182 I think that happened to me at some point as well. I just moistened the q-tip just a bit with water or rubbing alcohol so that it'll help absorb the excess ink. It also helps if you spray over the parts with a light gloss top coat first before you do the panel line inking. After you're done, spray it over again with another gloss or flat coat to protect/seal everything.
@NeuesZiel I think that a collaboration between the two would be perfect. Have the first modeler do all the body work, then the second guy would do paint and detailing.
how is he able to remove the darker wash without removing the paint under it? it never seems to work for me, anyone... Also what is the power he was using to get the great finish one the gun. Amazing job!
@evilD0ER01 because he use two different type of paints, first he painted with a clear coat of lacquer paint and then paint over with black enamel and use enamel thinner or alcohol to remove it, so, enamel thinner dont attack the lacquer paint coat!
Can someone help me i want to start the Gundam UC series this is how i think it works.

This guy should stick to ATs. He did a great job overall but the Sazabi should not be cast iron or look so "crude". I would love to see a SP for him featuring a Scopedog or Bruitish Dog as I think they would suit his techniques a lot more.
i want to know, like, when he fills in the cracks of the parts. Does he mixes thinner? then, when he wipes the excesses away, does he dab the tip of the q tip with any type of solution?
sounds like you're a fan of mobile armor which is pretty much what you described. In 8th ms team there is one that is huge. Another reason Gundams (or mobile suits) are so small is just so they can have more guns / units in the air. Loose just 1 mobile suit = not a big deal. Loose 1 mobile armor the size of an aircraft carrier, thats kinda a bigger deal lol.
I was genuinely fearful throughout the entire Sazabi portion of this special. In the end it came out fantastic but I'm still on the fence about the clear coat he applied to mask the decal lines. It seemed to whiten the overall color =/

Other than the rough surface left behind by the surfacer used, the modeler did an excellent job.

Although the two modellers obviously have different styles, the Nu definitely beats the Sazabi here.

Gundam are a fascinating reflection on the Japanese aesthetic for design, really cool.
But the weapons system guy in me always groans at the lack of common sense! Why a separate rifle that he carries? Just to give it a chance to drop it?
Why not larger? It's just a machine, so why not make it Aircraft Carrier size instead of just a large building?
And of course, why walk? Just to put the center of gravity precariously high above the ground?
Hilarious fun, great job on the model..

fantastic paintwork tricks!
I dont really dig the cast iron effects tho', cos I think sazabi should be smooth and majestic looking.
But still, his work is magnificent.
Thanks for the video.
