Could you please explain how come that every opposition rally "obstructs traffic" while all the pro-Kremlin actions (like a huge Nashi's Santas gathering last December) don't?
Easy, "Nashi" don't need a scandal, so they don't make it. Anti-globaists e.g. do need scandals, the same is true about "opposition" that by now has fallen apart (Kasianov, Kasparov are all separate now)
The Nashis occupied several streets in Moscow in December, in March, and in May. The traffic was closed on these streets for several days. However, Moscow authorities refused to close several streets for just 2-3 hours for the opposition in December, in April, and in June. During the Dissent Marches no single window was broken, no single car was burnt, no single passer-by was beaten by the participants. So there is nothing in common with the anti-globalists, whose actions are usually violent.
I see your point. Moscow officials were not fair to them. I watched several videos of the "marches". Russian police does fight back. But fights Back when provoked! Out of context "citation" videos don't count. I only trust footage with the whole piece. Otherwise it's too tempting to "cut and paste". Not trying to convince anyone, but I think the "marching guys" are full of it :)

well to start with, the "meeting" was sanctioned, the "march" was not. why? simple - traffic obstruction.
so the "opposition" could protest as much as they wanted, but they wanted the bigger bang.
Beresovsky is laughable, he is simply angry of... loosing power over Russia, corrupt himself, his voice is zero-credible

forbidding a march is against the constitution.
