Awesome, but this actually isn't a transcription. I can't remember who, but this was arranged by someone other than Schubert for solo piano. Originally it was part of a series of three military marches for 1 piano 4 hands, but then someone else changed it to Db major and arranged it for solo piano. It does sound like Cziffra improvised a lot to make it more difficult though... just though I would let you know.
Schubert was a homosexual. I don't like his music, not because of that. Most of the stuff he writes goes somewhere and than back to nowhere. I do like Mend. He is great.
@ClassicMusicOnly Do you play piano? Are you a professional musician? Hope you are, unless your "Cziffra is much better than Horowitz" is the speech of an idiot. its like comparing your mother and your father.
Yes I do play the piano. Yes I am a professional musician studying in Vienna. Even if I was no though, it does not mean it is the speech of the idiot, but a simple opinion. I apologize if I made it sound like a statement. I'm known to have my stupid moments very often which I must later correct myself of. Although it is my opinion, " its like comparing your mother and your father. " is your opinion.
I've played this. It is Tausig's version. I even have an Etude magazine from 1926 with a measure by measure explanation how it was expected to be played (by Mark Hambourg). It includes a little vignette on Schubert, and the notes with Hambourg's annotations printed on them. It may sound like 2 pianos, but it isn't...pedaling has to be absolutely precise, or it ends up being a muddy piano-pounding.
People who ever listened live Cziffra playing is should be very grateful and proud.

After hearing this... I'm sure of these things.
1) People are right he IS NOT a human.
2) Cziffra is much better than Horowitz
3) And lastly , hes the most amazing virtuoso. Those who got to hear him play live on stage.. are in fact very lucky!!

Damn right he is good, He is one of the few people to play this song solo without making a serious mistake.

It's not a song! No singing involved here, thus no song.

Sometimes you find people here who even name a symphony a "song"...
silverbud 2 years ago 11
@akschrott leider ohne verte, chanson sans parole, songs without words... Think Mendelssohn!
