@CrashBandikoot7 It's only as reliable as how much the previous owner took care of it. Heres an info you may find very useful, if the vin tag has "T283" it means it was equipped with Toyota OEM 2 way LSD, if it has "T282" it means it had an open diff.

@supasupreemxx i know that, but i meant are there any issues with the cars themselves to watch out for? any weaknesses in the design of anything where the failure is inevitable way before it's time.. like for example on my 92 maxima, the window regulators are notorious for failing, and on my bmw, the plastic cooling systems need to be overhauled completely every 70k to be safe.. thanks for the LSD info tho, except these cars are so rare, i dont think ill have much of a choice with the diffs

@CrashBandikoot7 No, I don't think there are any weaknesses on the car, but you have to realize its a 25+ year old car, things will go out faster than a newer car, assuming the cars are evenly taken care of. But other than that, it's a great, fun little car to drive!

@ninjara88 Thanks! I think it was perfect with my hi comp 4age setup with some HKS cams.. the turbo set up was too much, I used to run the car in the canyons and I loved mashing through corners in 1st and 2nd gear.. you can't do it with a boosted 4age.. but it was good for drifting..

Your pockets are deep enough if you can't see what works been done to the car, or all the little OEM parts that are hard to come by, etc.

@pedrochang91 my build is it? it was originally a jdm AE92 4AGZE motor (Supercharged), but I ditched that, tossed on a turbo kit, with forged internals, etc. Its a 1.6 liter turbocharged motor. Thanks! Too bad the new owner is an idiot, and i think he now sold it to someone else.

$14K is a SICK DEAL considering that POS AE86's are going for $2-$3K & OK once are fetching $5-$7K. And when it comes to some NICE complete examples with top of the line parts, labor & tuning. In those cases $15K is average for AE86. One has to be a true car enthusiast to understand AE86 or Datsun 510 type of cars.

It's an enthusiasts car. I never got to dyno my 86, but my friend had the same turbo set up in his 86, he made 248rwhp @~8-9psi. I was running .9-1 bar (1bar =14.7 psi) my 4AGTE was built.

I wasn't pushing mad hp, but for a light ass car, 250+rwhp is fast!

Imagine the way a 4AGTE sits in RWD configuration.

Intake manifold on the left, turbo manifold and turbo on the right side. Now you just add the ITB's on the intake side, and get a custom intake plenum made. And theres that. FYI: The intake plenum will cover the ITB's so you won't be able to see it, but it will work the same.
