we have a Burns supper on the 25th Jan My Dad he's gone now) but he gave the toast to the haggis, and I sang My love is like a red, red Rose.we still do it, and it brings back a wee bit Hame! Eddie has a beautiful voice , I'm sitting here Greeting HaHa thank you for for this terrific video
Eddi, this song by our great bard Rabbie Burns is totally flawless when sung by you. Yip, you have fallen in love with Rabbie. You have brought the old so and so back to life. Thank you for that.
@mygirlietaz Don't forget to sit indoors to avoid the 300-days-a-year-rain. And remember to avoid the heroin syringes and used condoms when you pop down to the cornershop. And don't forget, Westminster is the cause of all your problems. Culture. You can't buy it. You just get to live it.
There's nothing more moving than listening to a Scottish folk song being sung by a singer with a pure natural Scottish accent/voice. Eddi does so much justice to this ballad. Eddi's guitar skills are really great as well. As for 'specs' which commenter, down below remarked on; well, I guess, Eddi needed them to play guitar. I'm definitely going to purchase her Robbie Burns CD. I was so bowled over with her modern rendition of Auld Lange Synge that she sung some years ago at Scottish parliament.
Eddi, this is a heartfelt wee bitty that makes my heart feel heavy and light at the same time,Why ? Only because our boy/our Bard, made us think again. Those lyrics and your delivery were and are, a match made in heaven. The lyrics are incredible and your VOICE is FLAWLESS. ........When a' the seas.......Oh Rabbie, you did us proud and as fer you Eddi, you're some girl. Thank you for being JUST you.A voice that, thus so far, anyone can match.
Eddi I really have no idea how you can now move on and surpass what you have done recently. But I guess you will bounce back again and surprise us even more. I look forward to that day. Gon yerself Lady.
I remember winter in Belrage. Your fresh cheek on my lips. The tree limbs laden plump with heaven's frosty dressing; as dogs lay in doorways, contented by the gifts from soft Serbian hearts. I remember winter in Belgrade. Moja draga. All the way from Scotland's warm heart.
Jelena, I remember winter in Belrage. Your fresh cheek on my lips. The tree limbs laden plump with heaven's frosty dressing; as dogs lay in doorways, contented by the gifts from soft Serbian hearts. I remember winter in Belgrade. Moja draga.
You have to be a Scot to understand the lilt and poignancy of this song. It instils a feeling similar to what the Portuguese call: 'suadade'
A longing. A kind of romantic sentimentality for ones own culture and place. We all have the feeling but only some cultures have a specific word for it.
Geez yer number hen means... 'give me your number darling' ...well that is as near a translation as I can give. 'Hen' is a term of endearment that Glasgow men use in reference to women they are on casual but friendly terms with.
Just stunning and I too have tears in my eyes! :)

Beautiful song indeed. Eddi does a great job and the original words and the Scot accent is great.
Eva Cassidy's vrsion is still me fav tho...
Even more beautiful in my opinion although lacking the accent and with modernized words.

Am I the only one who thinks she sings and looks even better with age? I remember her from Fairground Attraction but I prefer her as a folk singer.

Gives me goosebumps this song, especially sung by Eddie. Wonderful, makes the Scots blood run through your veins that wee bit faster!

0, my luve is like a red, red rose,
that's newly sprung in June.
0, my love is like a melodie,
that's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair thou art, my bonnie lass,
so deep in luve am I,
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
till a' the seas gang dry.
