  • If we do not put this acft back into production we are going to be VERY sorry. As an Aeronautical Engineer & Pilot I can tell you with 100 % confidence that there is Nothing in this world like a Raptor. Nothing. There is a NEED for this machine on a Grand Scale. We have a lot of Old Iron out there on the Flight line. The JSF, latest model F 15 and even the S Hornet do NOT have the same capability. It is not uncommon for as many as 8 Hornets or Eagles to fall VICTIM to a Raptor the never see.

  • @MYRWX I dont believe THAT YOU COULD FLY THIS PLANE. This Northrup "flying wing" crap is highly unstable and prone to crash related failures. We have gotten so corp/politically CORRUPT in this country that ANYBODY THAT CONTRIBUTES ONE DOLLAR to a campaign expects HUGE CONTRACT RETURNS. Any military device that depends on a 1986 core processor IS NOT STATE OF THE ART AIRCRAFT! The real engineers were the guys at McDonnell Douglas. They gave us MANY dependable products. NO PROPAGANDA.

  • @MYRWX I didnt know the enemy had f18s & f15s. That means somebodys wasting time and money playing war games against planes unlike anything China or Russia has. Sounds like a Bush/Cheney plan to me. Lets let Haliburton built them....THEY DID A HELLUVA JOB FOR US IN THE GULF OIL SPILL DERRICK! The Thunderbirds demoed them here for several weeks (I live near Lock-Martin plant in Atlanta). when they came for airshow in 2007. The pilots hated them, said they were dangerous, and rejected them.

  • im going to be realistic: we need to improve the design so that it has longer range and bigger weapons payload and less maintenance and then we need to build about 400 more of these raptors.

  • Obama has stop poduction of the f22 for now I have no Idae how many we have in servise already.

  • @ratbat53 about 160.....

  • @ratbat53 According to pentagon stats from 2008 US Senate hearings: Total production from 1986 til 2007 was 189 craft. Specifics were not given as to the breakdown of how many were prototypes/demonstrators, and flaw correcting redesigns. Also not given in this figure was the number designated as YF23-f35. It was disclosed that approx 80 of the total were either crashed or storaged for parts due to severe airframe problems. The remaining total was described as in "tactical support." -DOD source.

  • I'm a F22 fan, but heres some worrying FACTS. So anyone debating if we should keep them please know this.

(1# It doesn't work in the rain because of its skin. 2# You can only fly this plane [an average of] only 1.7 hours before it gets a critical failure. 3# the production of this aircraft takes money from the

development of more useful and relevant planes to this era we live in, ie The Terrorist.)

This being said the F-22 has "unmatched air to air capabilities" NO DOUBT!

  • 1. bullshit, these are stationed in tyndall afb, fl, and langley, va. east coast. RAINS ALOT. tdy to guam like crazy. rains there. it flies in the rain.

    2. that's bullshit i have avionics friends on it, says it's getting better.

    3. point is to deter our enemies for now and future powers. that has always been the af's goal. Next time get your get ur info from a engineer from LM, or 22 maintainer in the usaf.....

  • he's thinking of the F117 witch lost some of its stealth in the rain. F22 is a totaly new aircraft and so many of these people that trash it don't realize that. They point out problems it will have with new equipment other nations have, but do they realy think they developed this machine without any knowledge of them?

Wanna bet they trashed the F15 when it came out and look at what it has acomplished.

  • the mos advanced aircraft know to the public and also the coolest

  • Reason why us goverment has bought so small number of F-22 it´s wopping price (140 million). Beginning of F-22 progamm LHM estimated that one F-22 would cost around 50 million. They exeed the budget over 180 %( price for one f-22 is 140 million). Lockheed martin has allso F-35 program. Cut the F-22 program! Stop wasting taxpayers money

  • um ,excuse me? they're right now $100 million, and getting cheapr.

#2 excede the budget? how so?

#2. THe f-35 's price tag is RISING, actually

#4 you didnt learn your lesson with the fiasco with he SSN21 seawolf and SSN virginias.... the seawolfs were cut, and production went to thevirginia class- the virginias got WAY more expensive than the seawolves( the advaned ones) ever could have,

    - so DO NOT make that mistake twice, it'll cost us MORE - we need the raptor

  • Price depends how you calculate cost of making one F-22 more. If you ignore the huge delevoping cost and count just materials, work etc.. price can be 100 million. But you have to divade devoping cost at number of F-22 to cost calculation. Price for one F-22 is 140 million. I rest my case

  • It just waste of money to build more F-22 because america doen´t need them ! Cold war is allready over ! Jobs will be lost in lockheed martin if they decide cut the f-22 program finance. But jobs will be made if they spend money for something more usefull infrastructure etc.. so it would be zero effect on jobs.

  • Are you a complete idiot? You expect people that work on multi-million dollar jet fighters to then go out and get a job building a street? This is how mindless Obama supporters are. Put down the bong and the Cheetos and get a grip on reality moron.

  • pardon me.

    1. im a obama supporter

#2. the raptor needs to be saved

    #3. THsi is gate's idea, not obama's

#4 - gates is in a rumsfield mindset

#5 aside from that, you're completly right

  • You undestood that completely wrong. I said overall unemployment will remain about the same.

  • actually he's a palin supporter..

  • IT's NOT a cold war weapon..

it's a repacement to the AGING 25 year old, FALLING APART(hear about hte wing falling off one recently?) F-15 eagles....

It also ensures air superorit,y which has been AIr force doctrine for whaqt, about 5 decades?

by the way, it snt a waste of Money, because they've been ordered already... .

they're on the list- no money is being 'thrown away' ...

Furthermore, those people wont be able t find jobs as well... plus, where will they work?

  • Long live the F-22 Raptor

  • Well the GOOD news is that there are already 200 raptors built or being built and there are around 40 Congressman backing the program..The F35 isnt so luky thoe..F35 is a great jet but the F22 can do an F35's job and more

  • The F-22 is so beautiful. One day I'll be in the cockpit of a Raptor.

  • Yeah, washing the windshield.

  • lmao, thanx for making fun of crew chiefs buddy.

  • I have an idea. Lets put together an Air Superiority Fighter Reduction Treaty (ASFRT).

It will be like the START Treaties. Then we won't need so many.

  • I'd also like to mention that, I myself know the existence of the F-22 and the purchase of so many of them, played a part in me losing my job.

With the Reduction in Force program the Air Force chose to trade human capital (Me) for physical capital (F-22s).

  • I can't stand all these people who say we have to keep producing products because too many jobs depend on it. That's not a valid reason.

If 100,000 Americans worked in a factory making oversized rubber butt plug sex toys, would you be saying, "We have to support the butt plug industry with taxpayer money, because if we don't, too many Americans will lose their jobs."

  • The plane is pretty! Too bad the USSR failed just when we needed it to justify the expenditure! If this plane was useful it would have been used in Iraq/Afghanistan. If the team building it were competent, it would have been complete 10 years ago. At 200 million dollars each, every time we build one, the enemy does 200 million dollars of damage to us by making us waste those resources. For 200 million dollars you can buy lots of things we really need!

  • Im making a video about this and publishing it on youtube within the next 15 minutes.

  • did you forget, that th raptor gts CHEAPER with TIme? IT's $100 million, dummy

And, its because they're NOT using it.

ALl the planes(that are aging, and have bad maintenance, and are proven to be a rising havoc), that bomb over there, and d oroles like SEAD< the raptor could do....

as for the production, nice try, but you cant pin that on anything really. 10 years ago? sorry buddy, we didnt have that sort of capabilitity.....not with this technology...

  • No mention of being over budget and behind schedule for 2 decades. No mention of high maintenance costs to preserve stealth. No credit for who is behind this campaign. Can any air force afford a $235,000,000 fighter plane that carries so few weapons? Next we'll see a campaign to save the equally bloated, and under-armed, F-35 that only costs $127,000,000 a piece. How about saving jobs for proven products that are affordable?

  • The F-35 is a so-called "5th-generation" fighter, but it does not have the same maneuverability and speed as the Raptor (F-22). There is a great article in the March 2009 Atlantic Monthly called "The Last Ace." You know why there are no more "aces" anymore? Not because our pilots aren't the best in the world, but because no one challenges the F-15 right now. In 30 years, it's F-15, 107 kills, challengers, 0. But others are catching up, and soon we'll pay in the blood of pilots and ground troops.

  • you also know that the f-15 were considered expensive and built the 16s as a cheaper alternative....and now they both work in cohesion as well with more apprehension of 15s after the 16s were built? Hmmmmm. sounds like uhhhh.....oh yeah! the 22...and 35

  • Yep.

    Same fate.

  • @taans1 F16s were going to be a cheaper alternative to f15 for DOD because they lacked the super heavy airframe and engine package specified for USN specs due to carrier duty. The Falcon is a USAF plane. Both are fine products. Its is of pertainent note: The Advanced Elite USAF Demonstrator Squadron Thunderbirds turned down the YF22 ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS citing instability in manuevering at speed. Flying wing has never overcome this aerodynamic flaw. Northrup F117 had same issue, in backup role.

  • Why produce Raptors when we can produce F-35? I don't believe that thousands of jobs will be lost because the only one that get rich with war are only a few.

  • And for those of you that think it is wasteful spending. Take into consideration the jobs it creates.

  • I am not going to waste time with smug people who obviously dont know enough about national security and such but i will say this. It is always paramount to be the first in everything as America. The F-15 and F-16 fleets are aging and its time to move on to the next generation fighter in a changing world. The SU-37 has many advantages over the F-15 and 16. The Raptor is not only the most superior Fighter, it can assume CAS and interadiction roles as well. Thus giving it the F/A-22 designation

  • It's not obsolete dumbass

  • ... stealth technology is 20 years behind the times - those planes can be shot down easily with a ukrainian triangulation system that reads their electronic signature emissions - it's already been done - they're flying coffins ...

  • Why would he U.S. buy from russia? It would be stupid to do that when we can produce our own aircraft that are BETTER! Can we get a web adress to where you found out about this little triangulation system? If you cannot produce a creditble source it will be hard to accept that as real.

  • No, actually you are just fucking stupid. The F-22 is not just the best new fighter, it COMPLETELY changes the playing field. Nothing in the next 25 years will be able to even kiss its ass. F-117 without radar receiver DOES NOT equal F-22. Cutting the F-35 however, A-OK. Not necessary for air superiority, not survivable relative to cost, only really useful for battlefield interdiction. And we don't need 2000 of them for that. We DO need 500+ F-22.

  • "Nothing in the next 25 years will be able to even kiss its ass."

So why does America require such a sophisticated aircraft in the first place?

With your statement, it certainly seems like we wouldnt need very many of them, if any at all.

  • To maintain absolute dominance, and be able to mount interdiction into threat nation's airspaces with impunity. What we don't need are more fucking aircraft carriers, which we are building. We don't even have enough strike aircraft right now to stock them all. It's fucking ludicrous .

  • adaption

look at how fast other countries reacted to new jets ( f-15 to sukhoi flankers)

    and, they;d respond even faster

hear about htise newr migs and sukhois? thats why.....

they're getting faster at catchign up

Furthermore, USAF doctrine is air superority

why would we give up our power after 5- years of it?

  • I don't want to fly by wire in aan airplane that is susceptible to jamming from an IED jammer in the field. For how much each????

By the way who is behind this video and the web site. Why don't they have a single link or reference to who they are? We know it is Lockheed-Martin or the unions, just step out and be proud of your heavy, outdated, really expensive, using 10 year old technology etc. boondoggle that your stuck the American public with. You are cowards.

  • The only problem with it is we have no use for the raptors and were just making an excess of them.

  • Dont stop production... RAPTOR must go on to perserve peace... U know dats right...KG

  • GO RAPTOR!!!!! you are the BEST!!!!!!

  • DONT STOP RAPTOR!!!!! you are the BEST!!!!!!

  • Children do not need an education when they can get the same excitement by taking cover from bombs dropped by raptors!

  • true that!

  • i wish i was a younger man, i would like to fly one, i bet those flyboys get alot of hot chicks

  • women fly them too these days.

  • Sure that's a great idea. Spend another gazzillion on some technological masterpiece so it can sit in some hanger somewhere too expensive to use. War is so 20th century! How about using that money to do something besides go to war. Or is war the only thing we know? How about a mulitmillion dollar program to wage peace?

War is obelete and so is this high price piece of death. Dropping bombs the size of volkswagon buses on peoples houses is not the way to peace.

  • Behold the Military Industrial Complex in action!

  • Nice plane but...the thrust vectoring only works below about 250knots,and i heard the stealth of this plane was out of date ages ago?Too much technology on this plane,Russia mainly upgrades existing planes so they dont have to wait for ever to use them, and Europe have gone for a comprimise, with lots of usable technology, slightly stealthy and the only plane that can pull high g turns at supersonic speed.Thats what i've read/seen,but i'm no expert.

  • Hope you guys are able to keep the F-22 program going.

  • 5th generation dismantles everything else, if we don't have them other countries like china and russia will

  • No I will not support the spending on this completely useless plane. You had 8 years of Bush who gave you thugs tons of money and look at what it did to the economy. The worst economy since the great depression. So we have proof that spending money on the F-22 creates economic chaos.

  • now that's rational. great name for someone who has no clue.

  • Wow you have been a youtuber for one whole day. Are you so afraid you might get laid off from your job building a useless plane that you created an account just to post this piece of shit reply?! You would be better off spending you time training for a new job asshole.

  • Your data, much as your capability to speak rationally without vulgar display is weak. Try to communicate without cursing and you may find that people might start listening to you instead of turning you off instantly.

  • part 2.

Thanks for your clearly angry comments. I'm not sure why you're concerned about my job, if you know anything about where I work you may know that our company also builds the JSF. Probably hadn't considered that, but that's conservatively the largest military aircraft contract ever let. No one I know is being laid off now or even soon. Please try to understand that about which you speak before you start typing and clearly demonstrate that you have no clue.

  • I agree. The F22 is a waste of money. You can't blame it solely on Bush. He wanted to cut the F22. He did cut the F22 budget. O'Bama is just another Bush. Bush used the war on terror to expand his power and increase government spending. Obama is using the downturn in the economy to do the exact same thing.

  • VERY NICE FIVE*S*T*A*R*S*

  • Made movie beautiful. House This music stuff images, something beautiful. Machine beautiful.F-22, House house note it beguile stuff that it arrive for Poland long. 6/5

    I salute!

  • In contrast, you'd have us pay BILLIONS more just to research and design new UAV's, then BILLIONS more to train operators. Oh yes... then yet BILLIONS more on the actual production of the aircraft.

Sorry, I'm all for keeping quality servicemen alive, but we need to look at all the ramifications of your asinine statement. Because it is obvious that you did not.

  • It always costs money for progress. To the US, billions more is not so much. Our economy is 11-13 trillion or so, and set to continue growing. Unmanned fighter planes are quite far off in the future indeed though. UAV's are increasingly taking the role in bombing runs, that is one where we may see it being totally automated soon, but fighter aircraft is still the domain of men, as no computer has man's ingenuity. While planes can fly faster, it doesn't mean the plane itself can stand it...

  • UAV combat aircraft are not capable of air-to-air combat as a manned aircraft is. So sorry about your invalidated point.

Precision guided munitions are not an issue in air-to-air combat, quality aircraft and PILOTS are.

Not to mention there, buddy.... the Raptor has already been designed and implemented. It no longer has an expensive development cycle. continued

  • Any manned military fighter aircraft is not only pointless but counter productive. This takes money and engineers away from projects that are actually meaningful. The army isnt about jobs its about defense. I would prefer the US military continued work on UAV's which are capable of the same tasks at G forces which would liquefy a human being and precision guided munitions.
