@Deadpool25mm@F22xSTEALTHx you didnt understand me.drawing on autodesk sketchbook or things like that is realy cool but drawing/painting on paper/canvas is much better. drawing on autodesk can help architects engineers etc but look, first sketch is on paper and that is the real art. It's hard to call art sketching on autodesk because everybody can make it ;)
@Eyedias This not for hobby artists. This is mainly for engineers and designers who already have the design done on paper, they just need to digitize it real quick.
@Eyedias Self-righteous hack-artist fails to see the future of production art. Just keep doing your thing bro, and let the professionals decide what's lazy and what's not.

A few years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said " Get the kids out of the house, we'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue". The "clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you dont post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00am with a chainsaw in his hand. sorry dont want this to happen to me
@hghmcse Yeah, it's not an art program. It's for people who design things, as implied by it's name. It's not meant to be a paint program, that's what Sketchbook is for.
ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND TRAINING FOR SKETCHBOOK DESIGNER 2012????? I can't find anything online and can't find anything on Autodesk website. Please help.
@DanFrederiksen How horrible! I wouldn't... Uh *pressure*... Look my mouse accidentally slipped ok. I didn't mean it... YOU CANT CATCH ME ALIVE MWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but is there a tool in this program like photoshops smudge tool? If so where can I find it since that is a tool I pretty much find to be necessary.
my only gripe with this program is that it crashes like hell. after looking around a bit, it turns out that designer does not like High res monitors, and tends to crash a lot. I really hope they get around to fixing or patching this problem, because it is indeed a very awesome program.
@socialjunsu Pro is used for like sketching and painting stuff. Basically, you can make comic book style stuff and what not. Designer on the other hand is more for line/vector art, kinda like adobe Illustrator. Both programs are pretty awesome, but there is no such thing as a better. It's the same as asking which is better? A fork or a spoon? There is no definite better or anything, it's more like what kind of tasks you are after.
I don't mean to sound dumb here but what is the name and model number of what they are using to draw?Autodesk sketchbook is the nameof the program right?I'm an artist and need this set up now!
Hello. I just downloaded the trial because of this vid but I'm having a hard time finding the tool where I can click and define the line work (I don't have a tablet).
@AnimationsAbiding you have to make a vector layer. it will come with it's own tools from there you can select the curve stroke mode, smooth curve, shift curve, straighten curve and combine curve
Autodesk. I've downloaded the trial for this software, and it worked on the first day. However now every subsequent day upon trying to open it... it gives me an error. It says "A software problem has caused Sketchbook Designer to close suddenly!" Meanwhile my 15 trial days are ticking away.. using Mac OSX, 2560x1600 res monitor. I'm asking here, being that its the only autodesk tech support I can find, that doesn't require money just to ask a question.
@beepsbobby painter is a hard program at the start but gets really in depth later as you learn [this is from some of the artists at conceptart not my personal experiance.] I find sketchbook to be easy to use at the get go but it does have a steep turn when doing more advance things like textures and stuff and doesn't have the options of photoshop or painter so it is better to get it and then on of the other two after.
With 2 monitors, a common mistake when calibrating the pen is often not selecting the cintiq from the "monitor" pulldown. By default, it is often set to the other external monitor, thus creating an offset. It is worth to double check.
Otherwise, I was wondering which set up are you using?
Is your Wacom 12wx set as the only, primary or secondary monitor? mirror?
I have tested these setups successfully on a Window 7 64 bits, with a ATI FirePro V7800 and the the latest Wacom Driver: 6.1.6-5.
I would like to write here there is a problem with Sketchbook 2011 trial version on Windows 7 64bit system. When you're zooming your image the cursor is moving about 5mm below the pen ( wacom cintiq 12wx ). When you want to draw something on zoom above 100% the pen is moved, but in 100% image everything is ok.
On old xp 32 bit system everything works fine. I checked it on diffrent wacom drivers.
@beatiny Designer's main difference to Pro is that it is a hybrid vector and paint environment. The vector curves make strokes editable, so more precision and flexibility to adjust. Designer also has more manipulation and transformation capabilities. The price and system requirements are also different. Best way to know is to use the free trials.
@beatiny Based on that, I would say SketchBook Designer... lots of creative ways explore and evolve ideas through manipulating and warping content as you go.

@DigitalNemesis1 it's part of the designers program, it uses both traditional, and vector lines, what you are seeing him do is plot down a vector, then sketch over it like a template.
@8ghazale8 Eraser exists only on Paint layers. You can 'erase' on Vector layers by making segments on the curves or even 'painting' opacity change anywhere along active curves.
its no photoshop but still this has something photoshop is missing the versatility the simplicity makes it ideal for digital sketching

real art?
with all due respect i dont believe whether there is a real or an unreal art. an art is an art.
this is modern art and some guys there are stck with traditional art.
artists are openminded. you will not know whats better until you try both.
and another thing . . . . Innovation.
