  • Haha!

I'm an easily distracted student, and whilst referencing an assignment I found this vid linked in 'cite them right' so I couldn't not see if it were real...

    Wicked video!

  • brilliant advertising potential there,

so you sell adds on those?

some clever design front and back and you could have some somewhat subliminal suggestion,

    maybe a two part animation,

like the bird and cage on a card spinning on a string

  • What is a tube? Why is hot bad?

    Only kidding.

  • LOL

  • Dust comes from brake shoes, steel rail contact and electrical contactors/motor brushes. I wonder if brake shoes used still contain ASBESTOS as in the past!!! This dust combo stays in tunnel to be puked (picked up) by trainset HVAC system 'fresh air intake.'

  • Eat your heart out mates. NYC subway cars have TWO HVAC systems that maintain 72'temperature in new pressurised cars with banks of air filters changed out upon every inspection and they come out DIRTY with a nasty dust like copier toner For just two bucks you can run all 740 miles of active trackage 24/7 till you exit. Newest rebuilt station is Stillson Avenue in Coney Island BROOKLYN with a photovoltaic roof that powers ventilation fans. BTW:cars use AC tractiomotors and composite brake shoes

  • London underground are utter rip off merchnats true but they reason they have not got underground air con there is its out of the EU carbon ommistion guidlines, the amount of pollution from that would triple the output for london....not good

  • what a great idea , they treat us like crap , ive almost died in there sweating my nuts off with my face pressed against the glass for an hour while they shut the track down , they would also be good for accidentally slapping pissed people with that read the paper over your shoulder

  • nice.. ur trains are totaly better then the ones he got in toronto. there freaking crap

  • cause T.Dot is crap they get what they r like

  • wtf are u saying Toronto is amazing.. either u have never leaved here, or u just hate it for no reason, but Toronto is an amazing place, but clearly u dont see it.. were the hell are u from, them, and we will see if thats crap

  • Nice Idea... makes people smile

  • I love Lamp.

  • Anchorman.

  • watch?v=piuoGb-Nhfw

  • wtf is this???

  • i guess someone placed peices of paper down specifically to fan yourself with

    pretty funny

  • you would know if you took the time to read what the video was about

  • watch?v=H_B4RyWw-tk

  • and the point was.....?

  • Was the guy sat alone towards the end talking a photo of it or something???

  • i think what hes saying is that you didnt invent it, you discovered it. electricity has really always been around. anyway i figured the Egyptians discovered it when they made this battery by filling a vase/pot with some kind of vinegar and then putting a copper rod or something in the middle which could produce about 4 vaults. all credit to you with the light bulb though

(danyon isnt stupid most of his points are true...)

  • I think the Egyptians discovered it as well, it's the oldest found object that gave out any constant reading. But there has always been electricity, it builds up in certain places without any humans, like static electricity.

  • What a waste of 3 minutes that was.

  • Pointless. Only God knows why this got featured.

  • I might be being petty here but you maintain that americans invented shoes, it must have been hell before 1492, we were barefoot before that, now that I realise that the USA invented electricity and shoes I will never question the intelligence of an american again.

  • I don't know where did you get that from, but people wore shoes thousands of years ago. The oldest shoe found was 9000-10000 years old.

  • OrientalsOnAcid states about 5-6 days ago that americans invented(not discovered) electricity and that Americans also invented shoes plus a load of other stuff. I usually ignore the whole america/europe bickering but that guy just got me annoyed.

  • Stupid, hmmm. So you now feel that edison invented electricity, you are much cleverer than me, I am sure people pre edison must have wondered what that stabby, hot thing must have been, oh! it was lightning. I will support ayshamarty's comment, you really are an idiot.

  • yeh he discovered electricity - he didnt invent it u idiot

  • For anyone that is interested I was replying to a comment made about a week ago which is why it may seem out of context.

  • Americans invented electricity? That's a little like saying americans invented air. Hollywood movies? Thats because they are in hollywood which is in the USA so that's fairly obvious. The banking system? I beg to differ. Space Travel, it was the russians with Yuri Gagarin. The radio, Mr Marconi I believe - Italian. The theory of relativity, Einstein - German. I can't be bothered with writing anymore but I hope you get the idea.

  • This is genious! They should supply these :D

  • I'm sorry. You're right, it was a mistake and I apologize.

  • way cool

  • you are an idiot.

    purely jealous over people's creativity...

  • lol..the guy took a picture of it. XD

I want to do something like that one day.

    Dunno what to do though.

  • 4 things:

    1) Impressive, wish I had something like that last year

2)2:26 needs audio re-formatting, my ears are still bleeding :S

    3) Impressive you are able to record on the underground for as long as you did (on/off)

    4) surprised you didn't get punched in the last scene - if I saw someone recording me, they would regret it :P

  • i tried to film in a railway station once but a security officer caught me and told me i could not film :(

  • /watch?v=uUVBahUZvSI

  • people are too lazy. you should leave hands too.

  • I wasn't trying to be funny as much as I learned what that meant my first of many times on the Tube. You think you're going to get where you want to go, once you're on, they say that, they stop, and you can wait, or walk. I walked. Just a memory is all. And of course it was cold and raining. Live and learn.

  • haha gotta love the british ingenuity, brilliant!

  • the cool tube project was actually an idea of Singaporean student studying in London and the other guy helping him was from Greece! cheers =)

  • ok... i stand corrected. haha gotta love the singaporean/greek helper ingenuity, brilliant!

  • very funny lol

  • Ingenius!

  • nearly as good as my video...

  • ... what did that have to do with anything?

  • At 1'.03" into your video.

I would like to point out that I was not picking my nose. I may have become irritated by a flying insect causing me to react in the way I did.

The hot weather and the pressure of being filmed by dweebs cannot have helped.

    yours etc...

  • This reminds me how much i love the London Tube. :)

  • i dont get it? what did you do?

  • Ahh that's ace guys! Funny how people arnt sure how to react :P

  • Wow! seriously great idea!

  • that is pretty ingenius

  • hey everyone! thank you for all your nice and some not-so-nice comments! but nonetheless its been a great encouragement to us! anyway we have uploaded a newer version of the video based on some the comments that were made.. =) Enjoy! The video is called 'For a Cooler Tube (edited)' and can be seen under Video Responses.

  • such a cute idea!

    only

you've just created loads of rubbish on the underground now

    :(

  • boring

  • take my last comment back. Had 2 much wine last night and was feeling sorry for myself. Totally not me really. Soz

  • Yea, let's spend a lot of time on a movie where we don't show the sign so people don't understand a f*ck about what's going on. Cool.

  • good luck reproducing.

  • See now, if your stereotype was true, the crime rate would be much higher than it is today. So much in fact, that today the current state of the UK would be considered to be in anarchy. In fact, that brings back to mind a Sex Pistols song...Also, not all men are married and thus cannot BE wife beaters. Unless, of course, some people had wife beating parties where they would invite their friends over to abuse their spouse. If this happened to you, call the fucking police.

  • But this isn't true is it? Your just an attention seeker.

  • good idea

  • wow this is such a great idea! I love the video, hehe the fans are weird

  • go away

  • sorry but on a properly hot day that just won't cut it on the tube. Didn't look hot enough for people to take of their jackets. And anyone who commutes knows you can't scratch your nose during rush, let alone use a fan (and the rush is when it is the hottest)

  • that is fucking brilliant. people are stupid, on the tube, it can be freezing outside, but once your on the tube, it hot as hell and stuffy, like a moving suffocation tank.

  • If you're new at commenting YouTube, I suggest you keep comments like that to yourself.

I, personally, have nothing against what you are saying but you will piss of many people.

Especially when you're supposed to be commenting on a video and not another persons user name.

  • last i visited london i was very pregnant, the tube was small and extremly hot..i love you!

  • you lost me......if it was that hot why did'nt people take off thier coats and jackets??

  • @ 1:47 there is a guy wearin a cool hoodie, mee love !!

  • oh dear, one of THOSE people

  • Have you ever travelled on the London Tube? So tell us - how much do you donate to charities - or more precise how much time do you give up to help others? And yes, I do donate and volunteer for more than one charity but having watched this vid, hats of to Rak2008 for this generous idea! :)

  • LOL that was strangely cool :p funni to see what ppl did... ok... well yeah gernerally they just fanned themselves, but it was funni anywho ^^ kl of ya to do that, and love the instructions - just in case ya no! xD

  • as in... just in case u need instructions...

cos its so damn simple... so u dnt rlly need them ^^

    xD

  • People have been known to pass out due to the conditions of London Underground trains during the Summer.

  • you're easily pleased tetzudeamon21

  • urinating lowers body temperature. Simply urinate on the person next to you to cool down - its easy

  • Hahahaha... 0:57. "Mind the gap, please!!"

Woo! That always makes me laugh. Nice video, and well done for including that in there. Certainly brightened my day.

  • tht was nice 4 u 2 do this

  • Good job! ^^

  • morons

  • what the hell hahaha

    lol.

  • I admire the time you spent on this, but surely carsonogenic sooty air waved in ones face seems like a bad idea to me.

  • Great idea.

Here in Sao Paulo's subway we HAVE to do this too. The problem is that warm temperatures inside the train is not in a few lines, but in almost all of then...

  • Every one seems to have warm clothing on.

  • Suprised you weren't arrested under suspition of terrorism. =P

    Good crack

  • im surprised they werent shot in the face under suspition of terrorism

  • Thanks for adding to all the litter that already invests London :) Well Done!

  • How kind of you all. This is a maverlous idea.

  • people seemed to really take to them...

  • good idea but most people already have something to use as a fan, like a newspaper or something and it just creates more litter. Weren't they offering a £1,000,000 prize to the person who came up with how to solve the underground's ventilation problem?

  • funny!

  • great work

  • nice!!

  • Haha good on you all:) Great idea

  • cant you just break the window?

  • What a breeze! wish we had a tube service in Devon, i would fan myself all day-not!

    Have fun.

  • i've got balls of steel

  • Good idea, see you are thinking about the people

  • I can clearly see that is the Bakerloo line :-P ...just wondering... where was I that day?!

  • lol. Nice one :)

You guys arguing about whether America or Britain is better should try to chill out and enjoy life..... It's not bad honestly

  • Awesome man!

  • Ok, well I'm sure you meant well, but... You are inadvertently making the passenger's internal body heat higher. You expend more energy moving your hand to fan yourself than you would if you were sitting still. Therefore it is a temporary relief as the cool wind hits the face but in the long run you are getting hotter and will be more uncomfortable than prior to fanning. That's why you need to find someone to fan you, like Kings and Pharaohs in ancient times did.

  • that's not true. I'm from spain and everybody here does that, like a natural reaction.don't need instructions

  • please, research your science.. seriously.

If you start fanning your self seriously vigorously, your not going to benefit.. but if your just fanning yourself, youll lose more heat because the transiton from water molecule to gas takes a surprising amount of energy.

  • if you really want to be clever and a know-it-all, then learn how to use the apostrophe. It's "you're" not "your".

  • 'your' is correct.... you're is short for 'you are' :) (just saying)

Also, even if it does generate more heat, it is still pleasent to have the cool air on you from the fan! and obviously make you feel better :)

  • I love fans full stop, whether they work or not. As you say they "feel better" even if they're not efficient :)

Sorry I meant the other use as in "...if your just fanning..." or "...your not going to benefit...". Those uses are wrong.

  • ... seriously? you correct grammar??.... seriously!?.. !?

okay Im sorry.. but that come back was just soo extremely pathetic..Im having trouble forming sentences right now.

  • Yep. Someone has to correct you otherwise you'll think you're in the right and teach your kids that way... slowly the English language is deteriorating, at least partly due to people like you.

  • ...... oh god, get a life. Atleast I dont teach my kids BS science.

And dude, Im 16, and Im not a tramp, dont have to worry about kids. Yay. I love being a teen.

  • Flaming brilliant MsBlack13. If you're 16 and don't know how to use your Mother Tongue, you are probably a chav, and shouldn't be allowed to have kids until you're at least 20, or 21 if you can wait that long :D

  • wonder if some of the brought those home

  • RE:They even issue out sorry letters you can show your bosses the reason you were late.

Yeah, you know why? Cause they actually need it. If you come late for 3min in Tokyo, you have to explain yourself in a lot of companies. But ontopic: I also thought, that Tokyo's transportation system is flawless. If you count all of the Greater Tokyo Area, this truly is the most crowded place on earth - and transportation still works. Gotta admire the Japanese for that.

  • Dude you should sell them as add space and have say target buy the front page. I see some serious money in this. for a short while. low barerrer to entry.

  • This is an excellent inniciative. It's simple, but it sure makes a difference. I could see some people actually using it. They appreciated it. Great Job!

  • dude nice job. thumbs up. if i was in the metro and i got one of those i would thank them. i jsut went on the metro bout 4 days ago at dc. its okay but still gets hot and it was 103 the day we choose to visit it.

  • Japan I think has the best train system bar none.

I've done chicago and the tube. Chicago has zero pride in public transportation. London does a good job. But as stated, it gets damn hot in there. Especially rush hours.

But Japan, public transportation is pride. Wonderful, clean. and best of all. Efficient. In the rare case that a train is running late. They even issue out sorry letters you can show your bosses the reason you were late.

Of course, rush hours are packed to the limit.

  • I'm enjoying Tokyo's train system right now and I agree =) They definitely know what they're doing. But oh man, rush hour... I got pushed off after just one stop the other day and couldn't make my way back on! I've started planning my morning around not hitting that rush hour =)

Great fans too btw! A more ergonomic design like a handle would be nice I think, but that would probably cost a lot more to have done, so I think what you've done here out of kindness for others is just wonderful!

  • I love this video--I was in London with a friend and we used the Tube for everything. It's the nicest and easiest metro system I've ever been on and I loved it! The sounds of the trains, the "Mind the Gap" announcement...I remember it all! Fun idea, by the way--you must've gotten such a kick out of seeing people use them!

  • The trains look so clean, WITH CLOTH CUSHIONS (WTF?), and all the passengers look clean-cut and aren't hassling anyone. Yet they can't put air in?

Here in Chicago, it's just the opposite: Dirty dingy trains full of grungy people asking for handouts, yelling about "jeeeezuz", or spilling their beer. Even the clean-cut ones make a nuisance of themselves by jammering on their phones. BUT we've got air.

Though I have been on a sardine-packed train full of drunken Cubs fans when the air quit.

  • They MUST be Nazis... Who else could come up with something so genius?

  • how many trees died to make those fans....lmao

  • None, buddy.

    They're made of foam.

  • owned

  • it's still a fanbulous idea.

  • those look "fan"tastic!

    Lol.

    Lame...

  • amazing comeback good job we need more people like you intellectually checkmating people on youtube

  • What a dreadful and inaccurate thing to say. America was HEAVILY involved in the war prior to Pearl Harbour.

IBM was selling computer systems to the Nazis so the 'Final Solution' could be handled in an efficient manner, Huge business deals were struck with the Nazis and the UK, so they could provide arms, steel etc. for the war machine and the US also made a tidy sum from an entire fleet of welded ships to replace those sunk by U Boats.

Don't you DARE say the US didn't contribute. ;)

  • that was one of if not the worst video ever!!

  • It was a nice thing to do, but it wasn't completely selfless. You obviously hoped to gain fame and/or appreciation for your acts by posting it on YouTube or else you wouldn't have video taped it. It would have been a true act of selfless kindness if you hadn't videotaped it and posted it online.

  • john lennon 2:14

  • ha yeah I saw him too,

There is a guy who looks like John Lennon at 2:14 onwards for a few seconds

  • or john oliver

  • genius...im laughing that people are actually reading it more than they were using it

  • oh boring! another pathetic american stunt in london, fuck me, im bored, im off for a cup of tea.

    HAHA AMERICA FUCK YOU XD

  • Weren't you guys late in joining the war? One of the last too if I remember correctly. And only after JAPAN pissed you off...

  • cool, but probably not so practical at the hight of rush hour, oh well.

  • i was in london not too long ago and all the time they would say "mind the gap!! mind the gap!! minnnnddd the gap!!!" it was annoying

  • you should check out the 'london underground' song, it's genius! part of that is them whinging on about the mind the gap thing

  • its really because they get sewed if they dont

  • Such a good idea

  • lol how many times must they read it?

  • "mind the gap please" lol you english crack me up

  • The poblem is that in many of the carriages on the Bakerloo and Victoria the heaters switched on in the summer. Many times I have been on trains with the venilator fans working, but the heaters, the silver metal panels below the seats are hot. You can feel the difference between a carriage with and without the heaters on. Also there is the same problem with London's buses.

  • I almost get it :-s

  • That is awesome.

  • I thought that made you hotter?

  • What a nice gesture.

  • the television was invented in brighton you fat fuck

  • Look up Philo Farnsworth and his Image dissector which was the first all electronic television. He's the reason TV worked with his cathode ray tube, everything else at the time was just a mechanical silhouette box.

  • no thanks cocker im english

  • Your best quality is that you are a imprudent filthy dumbass who gripes about the slime spewing hobo and the whimpering cum dumpster.

  • dumb fuck HA the tyre was invented by a frenchman. skiing was invented in europe, baseball is just rounders, an english game, whiskey is from scotland.

  • that was nice of you =D smart idea =D

  • wow good thinking well done u guys

  • So the train doesn't have ac? That would be surprising seeing how developed and wealthy London is. We have ac on ours though :)

  • watch?v=58stdX2qU_c

  • cool (so to speak) makes you wonder, if you had'nt left 'instructions' wether they would have figured it out for themselves

  • Absolutely genius. Good work great idea as the other guy said. I hope someone from TFL takes the hint with this. Could slip a few of these inside copies of the Metro?

  • Why try to prove it wrong, when it obviously isn't worth your attention?

  • WOW. Foam boards are not cheap. I am assuming that you spend about 10-20 US dollars on the foam boards on each train.
