Celine can sing. I can't take that from her. But she has that "french" nasal sound that some just can't stomach. As stated above Jennifer has that full and strong range. When Jennifer 1st recorded this, sound quality/technology was not as good as what Celine benefitted from. This has always been Jennifer's song.

Celine Dion is an amazing vocalist BUT Jennifer Rush sings this song better than Celine. Actually this song is the only song I like of Jennifer Rush's but it does belong to her. Jennifer sings this song effortlessly whereas Celine seems to strain to hit the high notes and her voice even cracks when she does.

But now I prefer to hear smooth, clear, effortless singing like Jennifers. I know Celine could have easily hit those notes without straining, but chose a different, less pleasant but maybe more dramatic and exciting sound.

@missp00153 I wouldn't say her voice sounds effortless on POL. She's really straining at the end, although that strikes me as intentional to make it sound more emotional. But Jennifer has a more effortless, clear sound on the song, and still able to project emotion with that, and I can see why some may prefer her version. I prefer either one depending on my mood. Since I grew up with Celine's, I am a little bit over hers and listen more to Jennifer's, lol.
