  • the only band that mattered: THE CLASH

  • Saw em in Vancouver in 1982, Saw them open for the Who not long afterwards.

Didn't really know what I was going to miss in the future. Liked Combat Rock, but hated Should I Stay or Should I Blow. After all the firings, it was clear the train had left the track. Said ho-hum at the time, probably because I didn't want to face reality. Still bummed about Joe's so-unjust passing.

This music goes so deep into me it's disturbing. I want them back so bad I understand why people go to cover acts.

  • gah! this is fucking epic!

  • CLASH- KICKIN ASS!! Taking names!!

  • I WAS THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED SO I GUESS I OUGHTA KNOW... THIS VIDEO CAPTURES THE EXCITEMENT I FELT EVERY TIME I SAW THIS GREAT BAND! RIGHT ON!

  • The only band that matters

  • lol paul at the beginning

  • HAIR STANDING ON THE BACK OF YOUR NECK THING:-)

  • (2:26) A Great Moment in Shea Stadium History

  • The Pistols were angry, the Clash were outraged.

  • Nice

  • @SickBoy99a The Clash are ledgends that we listen to 35 years later. The Sex

    Pistols; well.........

  • @SickBoy99a and not to mention. the clash were for real!

  • Huh...they're dirty they're filthy they ain't never gonna last

    Dem were some days.

    Long live Joe

  • First band I ever saw at Lewisham Odeon and the best rock and roll band ever!! RIP Joe and what would you say to Nick Griffin if you were here now?

  • i agree completely... i think we need a voice like Joe's today more than ever.

alot of what he sid and sang about still very much so applies today.

RIP Joe... the loudest voice of em all

  • Punk...The Clash was punk

  • This song is so inward looking and self-regarding that it ought to be shite.... but the Strummer-Jones-Topper-Simonon Clash were so brilliant that it's one of the best rock songs ever ever ever! The bit from 2:15 in is pure fuckin rock and roll genius!

  • saw the clash 3x in the early 80s at bonds in NYC..one time the dead kennedys warmed up

  • to hold the british flag and beated as hard as he could to the flag and took the flag and burnt it like c'mon you hardly even ever seen him!

  • lol people here say i wish i was alive in this era well you wouldnt..especialy in northern ireland it was fucking insane kids people getting shot on the street by the uda and ira and random bricks comming through the windows and all thats why we became punk and a whole lot of other reasons the meaning of punk can be a long story.listen my neighbour back then was a silent man and a riot of national front was out there holding the british flag and he jumped outta his house and said your not worthy

  • The Damned and The Clash rule.Different styles but both awsome non the less.

  • "The Only Band that Matters" -

  • very good

  • BEST BAND EVER!!!!

  • I fuckin love this band, I wish I was alive during this era.

  • me too man

  • ...=)...=)...thnx.

  • Look at Joes moves at 1.26...'reaction' 'power' and 'release'....fucking primal!! way way beyond 'dancing'. Couple of years later and then it all went Jacko shaped with his fucking 'moonwalking'. Didn't have it for long but for a few months The Clash had it ALL.

  • Mick Jones's backing voice is absolutly briliant ! ! ! So sweet and clear! It's like listening to david bowie but if bowie has Joe's lyrics to sing and a war to fight

  • i'd put 6 stars if i could

  • capitalism is evil

  • omg thank you for this 5* song and video! C-O-N Controll! hey everybody nXt i is gonna listen to Their Law the Prodigy!

  • stop argueing and enjoy one of the best songs ever written

  • wah wah wah. its you guys that miss the whole fuckin picture. ... i can't believe i took the time to write that much...

  • fantastic

  • good song

  • MINCHIA!!!

  • The Clash is my favorite band. Generally I drift between Extreme Metal (Death,Black,Thrash,Doom) and Punk/Post-Punk

  • No. And it's subjective and moot.

  • Excuse me? What are you talking about?

  • 2:32 mick has an awesome beret

  • fucking beautiful!! This is real punk!

  • 1:41 that cop is a total dick

  • great song, great band

  • best part 2:35 -2:39

    paul with some sick moves

  • The sound of the westway, and westbourne park, birth place of the clash.ur gota be a cunt not to love,em.R.I.P joe loved yeh mate.

  • Great, great, great!!! Thanks...

  • these are the reason electricity was invented long live the clash...

  • when they drop the sign as joe is singing....it reminds me of how much i miss him.

  • Godoooooooooooo!!!

  • zimon the class es lo mas xido que bien que sepan de musika xido we

  • I´m a 77´s punk, I´m 47´s years old. I think The Clash are a really great rock´n´roll band

  • They are very good musicians.....legends,

  • At 2:05, look to th left.

  • the dead kenndys sign?

  • Yeh, what's the go with that?

Why would they have it in a Clash video?

  • Why wouldn't they?

  • I dont get it explain..

  • I don't think we will ever get songs as good as these ever again.

    It's pretty disapointing.

  • great punk band !!!!!!!!!

  • クラッシュ最高や!!

  • Why doesn't music now days have these amazing guitar solos!?!?

    Such a shame...

  • Because they don't have the guitarists to pull them off anymore

  • i love the clash

  • "they re dirty, they re filthy, they never gonna last"....and it's been 32 years now....this song is incredible

  • 32 years and going strong!

  • It sucks never getting the chance to see your favourite band. Now if someone could invent a time machine...

  • i wish i saw them live yea i was born in 1991 so jaja yea way of from that time lol i dream bout that i saw dem live but i woked up nd i was bummed ......suxx greatest band ever!!!

  • "you're my guitar hero!!!"

  • Classic.

  • Why can't music be this fucking good anymore?

    Great tune.

  • because its all about money now not about the music

  • Biggest influence to The Clash was mostly commercial too. (sex pistols)

  • ohh i thought the clash hated the sex pistols i am pretty sure i read that somewhere or heard it or saw it in a documentary lol

  • that's what pisses me off so bad, it's all about how much money they make, thats why artists make millions off a hit single, and stop. and that music is shit. yet, money is a problem, it's hard to make, and so much of the world today is about that gay music, yet as a struggling bandmate, i hope i can appeal tio all of you people with good taste...

  • people like their music simple and dumbed down these days...they dont care about anyone else just about themselves and their money

  • Never mind that generation, it's the others following after them that might be open to music with soul and heart and humanity.

  • i agree

  • I'm not just talking, check out the Castillo kids. They're a sign of how things will not remain as they are now because of a current generations 'taste'.

  • One of the greatest rock songs of all time. The Clash knew it which is why they always played it the same way live and never tinkered with it.

  • This never gets old to me.

  • Realy bummed that I missed out on seeing The Clash, my favorite band.... alas I was born to late. AArgh!

  • grande joe dolomites italia!!!

  • i miss joe

  • fuck yeah clash, well done here

  • ill take the clash over the sex pistols.like would u rather have a couple awesome albums or just 1 album with like 5 good songs on it?

  • hey man don't be too hard on the pistols you got to remember that they were a renegade band that hated the music industry. so they would never get radio play like the clash.

  • i aint i like the pistols but they aint the clash.they had a untalented bassist and only put out 1 album.

  • After the Ramones, it was the Sex Pistols, that inspired Joe. Ever done research before? Damn.

  • I want to go back to 1980 and have some fun with Paul Simonon. Of course I wouldn't have been born for another 6 years, but..

  • crbcsk8r i agree with u 100 % joe strummer and rotten best frontmen in punk english that is joey ramone for american punk

  • sure the clash can replace joe but we all now deep down that joe is not replace able probably one of the best frontmans in punk history who agrees

  • i do

  • c.c. and s.i.s.o.s.i.g

    are the most awesome songs

  • this song is awesome the clash and the sex pistols should be in the rock n roll hall fame history!

  • They are

  • except the Sex Pistols refused to show up to their induction, they said it went against what they were all about

  • You are absolutely correct, but they are still inductees :(

  • yes, didn't they send a note or something saying they didn't want to be inducted at all?

  • Comment removed

  • only problem is that the rock n roll hall of fame knows nothing about music. in 25 years, hannah montana will probably be inducted, but not twisted sister.

  • fucking great!! its why i luv music

  • probably the best band in punk history.

  • we need the clash more today then ever before. Joe Strummer is greatly missed!

  • Agreed :(

    I want Joe back

    *cries*

  • fucking great

  • Get Carbon-Silicon's Last Post... Mick Jones' latest CD. It's great!!!

  • What a great live performance and video edit to go along. I totally love this song!

    Long Live The CLASH!!!

  • Dude The Clash is from the 70's its punk

  • this song gives me goosebumps, incredibly beautiful

  • que buena banda!

  • fuckin 'A

  • grandi the clash!!!!! great!!!!!!!

  • The Clash, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin.

  • Anthem of the ages!

  • intro!!!!! ........wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!.....la miglior carica il miglior controllo!

  • Well, I think everyone can agree lil wayne sucks.

    And the clash rocks.

  • why the fuck bring that fucking faget cunt lil "wang" into this he can go fuck himself

  • because they were talking about rap

  • so when talking about rap i think tupac biggie or maybe even far enough to say 50 cent but not that shit that lil fucking wayne sings, thats shit not rap

  • i agree i like some rap like tupac but not new age shit like lil wayne

  • exactly my point

  • Immortal Technique.

  • The clash, Ramones, AND the Sex Pistols rock.

  • finally someone that doesnt say 'the sex pistols suck the clash only matter" those who say that are very closed minded

  • The Pistols are okay, I'm not going to hate on them but The Clash certainly cared more about their live performances

  • And they did make ''deeper'' music than the pistols

  • Thats because Sid had no talent whatsoever

  • Agreed! The Sex Pistols were really nothing compared to the Clash.

  • There some good Hip Hop around even though I prefer rock and this is one of the best rock songs ever. There's alright non-mainstream hip-hop. Look on cokemachineglow or somehting

  • hip hop is retarded now, but..... the clash supported it at the time, in recognition of bands like the sugar hill gang. (the magnificent seven)

  • the info says it all

  • punk kicks ip hiop asss the punk is the real furius musi for people with a brain and th will of chANGE THE WORLD

  • I imagine other bands get depressed when they see this.

  • right on dude hip hop is for posers and rich spoiled white kids who think they are black and buy grills.....lol

  • LE meilleur groupe de Rock qui n'est jamais existé !

  • whatever the fuck that means I'm sure its cool!

  • lol, it means the best rock group that ever exsisted! hell ya!

  • cazzo siete il gruppo che mi da una carica della madonna!!!!!!!!!!! piu di tuttti gli altri amati rockerspunkpsicadelic band!

  • troppa caricaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • Except that every single one of the bands you have mentioned, including that turd masquerading as a musical ensemble in your screenname, are in no way, shape, or form, punk rock.

Pull your head out of your ass and listen to some goddamn Buzzcocks, X, or Alternative TV. Until then, shut your hole.

  • YES!

  • the bands he named were pretty cool though. hes just stupid lol

  • you do know that the bands you named arent punk. but i do agree with kids nowadays listen to very bad music. im 16 and im a BIG Clash and Zeppelin fan and i just dont understand how people can prefer hip-hop to pure rock genius. I dont know

  • DUDE YES

    im 12

I HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT SAME THING EVERYWHERE

hip hop is for posers that cant do anything so they have to be edited

  • doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

besides, what's the message to hip-hop?

You don't need talent to make music?

  • That's refreshing to hear that at least a few kids these days still like those old bands!

  • go kil urself

  • "This is punk ROCKAS!!!"

  • this song is on guitar hero aerosmith

  • guitar hero is for fat teenagers...

  • OWN3D, GH sucks but the Clash will live forever. R.I.P Joe Strummer

  • of cours that is why i play a real guitar

  • Punk 4 Ever

  • I agree

    PUNK 4 LIFE!

  • my favorite clash song ever

  • mick jones has some sick licks in this song

  • If the clash isn't deemed as

    phenomenal in its kind,

then Elton John is going to

throw out his purple petty coat

  • somebody knows where was the concert of the clash inside the fotball field?

    very cool!

    Joe Strummer was a mcahine!

  • That was recorded at Shea Stadium in Oct 1982.

  • It's opening for the Who at Shea Stadium, a baseball field, former home to the New York Mets.

  • Going to see them would be pretty cool. I'm not going to go mad over it though.

  • Comment removed

  • yes maybe you're right

but i've herd a lot of bands and some of then are quite nice but just two or three song are rlly good

The Clash's songs are much better, don't forget the magnificent London Calling album, in my opinion the best LP ever, each song is a masterpiece full of energy and punk rock
