Holy shit, Matt Damon was in Crowded House??

  • 80's were cool, why is that everything in the 21st century mentions 'gay;????

  • @chris03653837 I hope I'm not the only one who thought those guys were a little too into each other

  • that girl is buuuuusteeed

  • Featuring a cameo appearance by the Talented Mr. Ripley.

  • THE VIDEO IS A LITTLE QUEER, BUT I STILL LOVE THE SONG

  • thats when MTV was great in 1982!

  • This video is just uncomfortable.

  • I didn't realize they were queer. Who is the dude in the glasses?

  • R.I.P. MTV hello corperate greed and control over what they want you to watch and enjoy. HAIL CORPERATIONS. bullshit

  • audio is out of sync

  • The theme music for my first crush.

    Thank you Crowded House.

  • 1 time i was watching this yrs ago on mtv in my room when 1 of my best friends and seen what it was and said god i hate this group & i said god i love this group just to drive him nuts cuz that was the type of friends we was.

  • love love this band..

  • the original mentos commercial

  • I think it wasn't mops pug because mouth was too long.

  • Thumbs up if you saw mops (pug) at the end of the video.

  • Why I always got shy when I want to listen Crowded House?

  • why do people feel the need to watch 80s videos and then comment on how music and everything else is terrible these days? There are plenty of great bands out right now. Most of you are just too old and bitter to enjoy them

  • @coop2391 i'll speak for myself when i say that i am not too old, nor am i too bitter to enjoy anything, music especially. that being said, i just don't like the music being churned out these days. i admit, i love '80s music because i was a teen then and it sticks with me. but i also love '50s, '60s, and '70s. heck, i even like big band/swing from the '20s-'40s. my point is that it doesn't matter if people turn back time by listening to what they like. no one has to like EVERY/ANY/THING new!

  • 347 people never felt something so strong...

  • You know, it's weird. I recently discovered Crowded House, and thought they were a modern band! Just goes to show you how timeless this music is.

  • love this band...

  • yes... special indeed,,, lol... the blond at 2:11 very special!!

  • is it just me or does everyone in this group look "special"

  • well when the holy persn feels the shame and evaluation the anger comes..who are they to evaluate and control.really? are they my name are they my god? I guess I could respect authority and cave in but then I'd already be working selling atm machine to chuck people into barcoded tatoeed hell.

  • well when the holy persn feels the shame and evaluation the anger comes..who are they to evaluate and control.really? are they my name are they my god?

  • @grubeci Do you just bang your fingers into your keyboard or do you really try to sound like a moron? What are you babbling about?

  • well when the holy persn feels the shame and evaluation the anger comes..who are they to evaluate and control.really?

  • enjoy 50 cent less for gas Obama and the arabs felt so bad they did it..

  • stab away the fat poor kid gets it again...until.L

  • Great song, Very upbeat

  • Oh my fucking god, what a goddamn bullshit generation of retarded shitheads and talentless fucks... : P

THIS here is a fine example of what REALLY GOOD music should sound like, and it shows us how it's done to perfection!

  • 80s music is the music of my childhood. I always smile whenever I hear it.

  • i see..... sean penn!

  • something so gay !bbq is a fag

  • Nice lyrics, like the song. I wish this video didn't weird me out so much cuz I would probably add this to my favorites list. Just haven't yet found a rendition other than this one that I like enough; alas I have to keep coming back.

  • oooooo love this song!!!

  • love this trax@

  • Nice job! This one sounds MUCH better than the so called "HQ" version on here...

  • Split Enz... where the lead singer & his brother came from, nor Crowded House.... NONE of them are GAY, New Zealand, Aussies and Brits all talk & act different than Americans do. Pull your head from your BUM and get a clue.

  • Love and cringe.

  • who cares if their gay or not...stop being homophobes

  • Damn, the blonde needs a dentist!

  • Great song. Great band, Great voice. TERRIBLE VIDEO!

  • ahhhhh my soul is coming alive again!!!!

  • Are these guys still alive?

  • @CoolConejo I beleive the drummer commited suicide a few years back but teh other two are still alive

  • Love can make us weak, but it can make us stronger too : )

It just takes the right love...

  • Loved this when it was released, love it even more now. A great band recorded or live.

  • This band was so origanal they kicked ass than (and as far as that goes) this music still kich=k ass great stuff memorues of college

  • @1313blues ...Too bad they all seem gay.....are they? that is the question of the year

    good song though

  • @baco62 No there not gay.

  • @TurtleDope Agreed. They just act gay.

  • @GohModley lol...yeah weird video. But are they?? Who knows and who cares as long as the music is good right?

  • @baco62 DUDE THERE NOT GAY MORAN!!!

  • @HtownRizen It is they are or they're and it's moron not moran....lol

  • When Vodafone put you on hold the play this song

  • This was a perfect follow-UP to the great more down "don't dream it's over". Good lyrics and melody and everyone is so wildly charismatic and having so much fun and who wouldn't with two women like that around. Paul Hester, the drummer, seems so cool, relaxed and humorous I just hope he knew how much he was appreciated. But Paul has bouts of depression and hung himself in 2005 (year..I think). Damn it.

  • I think this song is a textbook definition of a pop-rock song. It's short, just over 2 minutes. It has good lyrics and a good melody, harmony is for the most part standard pop progressions. Form-wise it adheres very strictly to the standard popular song form: Verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus (repeat)..extremely standard - but it works.

  • @blkjock81 If only all pop songs were as good as one, amirite?

  • ahhhh Paul Hester, wish he still graced us with his presence, he was a fabulous entertainer...i saw Crowded House plenty of times in concert & he was such a great performer !!!!

  • @japfeif hey, don't fret too much, i was born in '68...lol..so, not that far behind, but as for this so-called "music" of today, I either play dvds, cd's or listen to talk radio instead...lol....

  • It's still good to hear that Hammond B3 Organ being used after all this time. Try getting one for under $10,000.00 these days.

  • Crowded House are brilliant live, I saw them on their 2010 UK tour and they blew me away !

Their new album Intriguer is really great - full of brilliant songs - how does Neil Finn keep doing it?

  • Awesome, I never ever heard a group like that. Crowded House one of the most amazing band in the world. Eighties was the best decade for music and for everything, thank you so much for posting this fantastic video!

  • This song still holds up! Isn't so obviously 80's!

  • Yet another band that should have been HUGE. Love these guys.

  • @malinwj they were huge

  • Comment removed

  • Totallu underated they where one of the best best around i luv them :) xx

  • Excellent song..cheesy vid...but song make up for it...love the times..there was just..Something So Strong!!!...

  • Love you, Hessie. Always. What a top class bloke you were.

  • I live in cuernavaca, my friends and me made a "estudiantina" version, with accoustic guitar, mandolins, for what?, for a serenade to a girl who loves this song.

  • 0:50 looks like Matt Damon

  • 0:50 looks like Matt Damon

  • There are two types of music.

There is Crowded House/Split Enz/ and music by the Finn brothers

and then there is just crap

  • when they pressed their faces together I thought they were going to kiss, personal space guys...geeze...good song though

  • The crap they make now is what I call "canned music." It all sounds the same, the pop divas all look and act the same, and it's probably the same person writing all their songs. That's why 80's music was so diverse. The bands actually wrote their own music.

  • @scorpiorising1000 They could also sing without distorting their voices to sound like robots in pain. In the 80's they did something called singing. These days all you need is the desired look, a few dance moves and you're an artist. Thanks to MTV and American Idol for destroying music in America.

  • @yakfitguy lol and i suppose ur just a butthurt 80s fan who wont move on. i like this genre and the modern stuff, and even if you dont like todays music just remember: the artists of today, no matter your opinion of them, are better then you in every way shape and form.

  • @LuceoLeo No, dumbass, I happen to like music, made by musicians. Go troll somewhere else idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @yakfitguy Ignore the weirdo fuckhead. I just checked his profile out. He has a video that has weirdo nutjob written all over it with only 1 friend since becoming a member in March.

  • @BBQFanNo1 LOL, it's funny how those people always end up being some total freak with no friends. Ahh, the internet has allowed so many scary weirdos to communicate with the rest of us.

Well, it does keep them from torturing their neighbor's cat

  • @BBQFanNo1 chill, bill (i know ur name and secrets)

  • @yakfitguy Yeah I agree. Nowadays its all about how music looks instead of how it sounds.

  • @gtrefghuk It's what happens when music becomes nothing more than a product. Media companies have learned how to market the most mediocre crap to the masses, especially teens. It's about selling an image they wish to emulate, not actual art. I guess it's part of the overall corporate business trend we see everywhere. The good news is, there is a growing backlash as indie labels proliferate. Good music will return again.

  • @yakfitguy You sure as hell got that right. I still can't figure out why Cher had to use that Autotune software, she didn't need it. She used it on "Do you believe in love" and that software has been used ever since, distorting voices making them sound like something out of an older 60s - 70s horror flick. Music sure as hell isn't the same as it used to be. Heck, I'd rather listen to 40s Big Band Era Glenn Miller's "In the mood" than most of the recent crap today. MTV wasn't always that way.

  • @sr71ablackbird I hate that Autotune shit too. There's another older name for the device that autotune is based on. Anyway, it allows people who can't sing to sell records in 2010. Many of today's "artists" are nothing but distorted voices, hallmark lyrics and tired dance moves. So corporate-generic it hurts. America seems to be out of ideas lately. Music is no exception.

  • @yakfitguy wasn't a voice transmitter that Peter Frampton used in that song called, "Do you feel like we do" ?

  • @yakfitguy lol, haha a robot in pain.

  • @yakfitguy at least we have Weezer..Thank GOD! My daughter hunts for my music now and it's not easy. Robot "music"...agreed.

  • @yakfitguy

Actually, they had all that crap in the 80s to, and we have plenty of fabulous singers now, just gotta look for em.

  • @chukmaty Then why didn't we hear it? I agree much of the technology existed, but it was not widely used. It wasn't a substitute for good vocals, and good singers still dominated pop and rock. Vocals were important in bands that required music skills. Now, it's too easy to take a Disney channel child actor, coach them and then use software to make them sound appealing. Where's the art? Good artists are out there, but if they are so hard to find, well maybe that proves my point.

  • @yakfitguy sadly, MTV USED to be the ultimate music video source (as seen here), but then they adopted stupid shows like House of Style (or fashion, some crap like that), and they gave up on the music. MTV was the station which introduced the music video back in 1982 ("Video Killed The Radio Star"). This CH video was one of the earlier ones, and one of the greats IMO. i will always love this song and this band just because of where I heard it first.

  • @ramadarose41 Yeah, MTV was great in the 80's. Martha Quinn and Kurt Loder were ambassadors of cool and you just knew you had a finger on the pulse off good music by watching MTV. It was a good time. But, then in the mid-90's, something went very wrong. Bad artists, bad shows, and bad messages became the norm. I would never let my teenager watch it now and I'm no fuddy duddy. Swerve is even worse.

  • @ramadarose41 ..... It was 1981, mate.

  • @Tre404 i think i actually knew that it was 1981 but incorrectly typed '82... that's my story, and i'm stickin to it! LOL in any case, thanks for the correction. :-)

  • @yakfitguy amen

  • @yakfitguy You are correct! If some could hear the "favorites" of today without all the distortion they would barf!

  • @yakfitguy "Thanks to MTV and American Idol for destroying music in America." To be fair Crowded House is a couple of Kiwis and Aussies. To me, Crowded House is an 80's-Now version of the Beatles without the drugs

  • @yakfitguy

What goes around comes around. Music like this will be popular again. People will get tired of autotune bullshit. Don't give up on music just yet. We're just living in the wake of our own doing. People stopped buying cds, the music industry started crumbling, so now we have bullshit throwaway music. It's just an era and ALL eras come to an end.

  • @yakfitguy yes and thanks for getting rid of the culture itself!!! people used to dress and style themselves and anything was cool and creative......whats creative now? Nothing...

What I miss are also seeing arcade machines in 711's......

  • @Danielboulder1 I miss playing the games in 7/11. Spent many hours playing Mortal Kombat with Slurpee in hand.

  • @yakfitguy

Funny you should say that. Back in the 80's, me and my friends always made fun of the 80's bands for being overly produced. Fake drums, way over-produced harmonies, and echo on the voices like you wouldn't believe. We pointed to 60's and 70's bands and said, "that was real music." I'm wondering what they're going to say about these days in 20 years. They'll probably call them the good old days. I guess it's all about when you grew up.

  • @dkmi Congrats for hitting the nail right on its grumpy, "back-in-my-day" head.

  • @scorpiorising1000 So true. This is why Top 40 stuff is useless to me. The Eighties was the last great decade for pop music. Retro forever!

  • Nice to see the guys (especially Paul) young, happy and goofing off with their careers ahead of them.

  • funny they played ottawa ontarion canada this summer as in(july) 2010. they have formed together againn.

  • one of my favourite crowded house songs. brings back good memories of my youth

  • Amazing 80s! :D All 16 year olds should love it!

  • ahhh.... eighty hair cut!

  • that blonde woman with the low cut blouse is hot. i'll use her image tonite in my private time.

  • I prefer a lot of their other stuff (but then it is a cover... why o why did they do it I wonder to myself.

  • This is a great song. The only thing is this video feels gay.

  • Steve Nash on bass?

  • These guys look far too happy.

  • Reading some comments makes me wonder what we have done to not only to ourselves yet the next generation . When did we became GOD to judge people 4 what we are WE are not perfect . Sometimes we need to sit down an evaluate ourselves an say we are only human and steroe type people . To each is on Crowed House Will never die because of thier talent Grow up people we are in the 2010s .

  • @guzrod1973 I was a teen and young adult in the 80's -- when this group came out and so many other extremely talented ones. Our generation was accepting and did not pass judgement -- otherwise the music of the era would not have happened, nor the crazy fashions, etc. etc. It is this generation that has become completely cynical and retrograde because they take everything for granted and they have a sense of total entitlement. Their music is a clear reflection of their ack of values.

  • this is when music was good and you cranked it up on the radio and just enjoyed it it was a great time full of great music

  • ....who are the putz's who voted down with 40 votes...hmm...probably don't realize good music when they hear it...po tings....LOL

  • Like I said in my comment on Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls", this is SMART pop music. Beautifully melodic, sweet guitar playing, and some rather soaring vocals are the cherry on top of a delicious cake that would make ANYONE a gleeful diabetic.

  • OK...I don't mean to be pedantic, but why does this video have less than a million views, but Justin Buttnugget-I mean, Bieber- has more than 200 million for that waste of air otherwise known as "Baby"?

  • @sbrushfan i guess because the internet is really only popular these days, not in those old days. almost every kid these days have access to the internet and they always go to youtube to watch their idol.

  • @sbrushfan Because this is a generation of retarded morons. I have to be blunt but that is how I see it. A generation that cannot comprehend real music when they hear it. A generation for whom TALENT is a foreign word.

  • Hello, in my loser france that I love, this band is not really celebrate because the name Crowded House, is not easy to memorise, for my citizen prides of nothing, I love Crowded House and australia or new zeland they sing in english but the sound of this band is more new-zeland, thanks, bye.

  • bone smugglers

  • So much gay power in this video

    queer rockers

  • @NigerianRocker

Dude it was the 80's early 90's really you gotta hate on this...

Whatever bra, hope you get help..

  • @lqdclr dude i love the band

    but you gotta admit

guys getting that close without any discomfort gets you wondering...lol

  • how is this video clip gay? when the song/video is talking about a women.

They happy playing songs together, good on them, doesnt mean there faggots, you homophobs need to go out more and see who real faggots are.

  • are they gay?

  • @RUAMirage No, Neil had married Sharon 4 years prior to his song and Paul and Nick both had long-term girlfriends.

  • they look so young here.

  • I Love This Crowded House 1987 Music Video, "Something So Strong," Which Became A Top 10 Hit In America.

  • I love this band from back in the 80s. This is a song I am going to do personally in the very near future

  • It's a shame that after the debut album, Crowded House lost most of its audience in here (the U.S.). Their second album, "Temple of Low Men", was on my turntable constantly during my freshman year of college.

  • haha :K

  • There's only 1 thing wrong with this song. It's too short:)

  • Even though this was out before I was born, Crowded House still remains a great band, true to the Aussie spirit. :D

  • who gives a rat's arse where the band was formed they represent both our countries and it's the music that we should be talking about not where they boyz originate from...This was when music was worth listening too back in the days...thanx for posting Tabstarkin xo

  • Don't it touch something in side you?

  • Wow :)

  • The best of the best!!!

  • CROWDED HOUSE.. a rock group formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia and led by New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn.

Finn is widely recognised as the primary songwriter and creative director of the band, having led it through several incarnations, drawing members from New Zealand (his brother, Tim Finn and Eddie Rayner), Australia (Paul Hester, Nick Seymour, Peter Jones and Craig Hooper) and the United States (Mark Hart, and Matt Sherrod).

    *

But as guzrod1973 says.. Don't ARGUE IDIOTS..!!!

  • Why judge the group or were they came from. We are as idiots make something big from something so small . Its music thats all it is . To all the so called americans ask were your parents came from. Another words just sit back and listen if you dont like tune it out.

  • its an australian band (formed in Melbourne) led by a kiwi.

  • Hit #7 pop, #10 rock, #13 AC in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in New Zealand? God bless!

  • im 12 and i love this rap can suk it wat ever happended to pure music?

  • @TheJamie0349 U'RIGHT....pure music now trashed by Lady Gaga...& other idiotz...

  • @DoUWanna007 : I love 80's music!!! But It's not Lady's Gaga's fault..They're just there to make money. The GUILTY ONES ARE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY BIG GUYS who killed rock music in the 90's. THOSE BASTARDS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR STOPING PATRONIZING ROCK....THEY COULD HAVE WELL TOLERATED IT ALONG with the NONSENSICAL, NON RYTHMIC, NON INSTRUMENTAL , SIMPLYSTIC RAP AND HIP HOP!!! Note that I didn't call it rap or hip hop"music",BECAUSE I DON'T CONSIDER IT AS SUCH.Instead they chose to kill R and R.!!

  • @DoUWanna007: I think people from the English people countries, specially those from the British Commonwealth-----well, any DECENT INDIVIDUAL(WITH GOOD TASTE) IN THE WORLD SHOULD ENCOURAGE THEIR KIDS NOT TO BUY, TO LISTEN OR ATTEND ANY CONCERT BY THOSE CHEAP RAP ARTISTS, SPECIALLY THOSE ARTISTS IN AMERICA....WHO NEEDS AMERICA ANYWAY, WHEN THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH could on her own produce and market ROCK music on all its variety? I WOULD SUPPORT IT. Even Eastern Europeans would buy ROCK MUSIC.

  • @tekatetikitiki Hey hey buddy. Easy now. I'm a rap ARTIST! I love Hip-hop and it's an amazing art form. That's why it has taken the world by storm! I also love alternative, classic, soft, metal, and a lil punk rock. I love RnB and blues is cool too. It's so much music in the world that we can jump from genre to genre to satisfy our moods! A lot of rap here in the states is controlled by large corps so what you hear is not pure innovation but followers after the dollar for their bosses. RESPECT!

  • @a7888 If Barnsey is Scottish then it confirms that Australia is a talentless desert. And if it wasn't for all those Kiwi's living in Aus then it's IQ would be 0!! But ya still gotta love a sunburnt country

  • love the Finn brothers :)

  • I can't believe that Aussie's claim CH as theirs considering CH always says it's a Kiwi band. I suppose Russell Crowe and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa are Aussies. Coz we ain't ever going to claim Jimmy "Screamer" Barnes. He's Aussie coz he sucks.

  • @TheSelina1971 Australia sucks. New Zealand nil.

  • @700gsteak

Yes Australia sucks so hard a large majority of you come over to take advantage of our welfare system - lol. Cos 3 mio humans and 10 mio sheep can't be wrong...

  • @xr6lad whoosh

  • @TheSelina1971 New Zealand is not a real country. It is a de-facto state of Australia. Jimmy Barnes is Scottish.

  • @TheSelina1971 umm.... actually,Neil Finn has said on a number of occasions that Crowded House has always been, and always will be, a melbourne-based band. It was quoted in the biography "Something So Strong". I suggest you read it.

  • I think CW is now my new favorite band. LOVE them! :D

  • man wth happen with my era this music is the shit man this era we gotta listen to crap from that bitch gaga i need this stuff lol

  • wow - sounds like Dodge ain't happy with our happy 80's bands...

If he didn't like the song, why did he hang around long enough to comment on it? His bad mouth shows he's an imbicile, and obviously didn't grow up with the awesome 80's songs like we did. His loss!!!

  • As popular as this song was ....and still is...I have never seen this video!!! How Cute!!!

  • i feel bad for New Zealand if that were true, but i doubt they're the best band to come out of there

  • @DodgeChallengerules cry me a river!! come on crowded house!!they never invented music, they didn't even move it forward. lol

  • for sure the best band to come out of New Zealand. Thanks, they're our home boys so we'll have a little credit here. The Finn Brothers are both fantastic.

  • @jbgmha The 2 brothers were born in NZ, but they are an aussie band. It was formed here. so we can both lay claim to CH.

  • @deflepjunkie Agreed, People need to stop this stupid fight over which country CH "belongs" to..... I've heard Neil say that they are a melbourne-based band, Nick and Paul are both from melbourne. Neil is a great Kiwi artist and i have so much respect for him.

  • I love crowded house. I heard this song this morning in the movie seven girlfriends. Tim Daly's character was playing it while driving.
