I went to the last concert held by the LPO. It was really nice to listen to such talented musicians.
But there was this guy who shouted: "You're dragging it, you're dragging it! This is a monstrosity! How can people listen to this?" Then he went out the door. He made himself look like the biggest fool ever.
BEST BAND EVER!!! LED FUCKING ZEPPLIN!!!!! My grandpa's friend was actually 1st french horn in the london philharmonic he played on the Star Wars movies!! I forget his last name but his fisrt name is John and he also writes songs and he wrote some music for Paul McCartney and he has also did some stuff with Madonna! His wife let me play her electric cello it was awesome I actually played Stairway to Heaven.
Listeneing to this on YouTube does not do it justice. You MUST pick this up on iTunes and plug it directly into your home stereo or on your headphones so none of the fidelity is lost (in fact, get the whole release: Kashmir, Going to California, When the Levee Breaks, ALL great renditions) .
Like many probably, I've heard Stairway so many times in my life that it lost its luster. LPO has done a MASTERFUL job returning its beautifully mysterious ambience. Well done lads!!!
This piece, this particular recording when I first heard it in high school, is what motivated me to write for orchestra. It shows that an orchestra is far from a "stuffy", classically-bound group of musicians. Shows the depth of both the composer and the individual master musicians who collaborate to create something so unattainable without each other.
put the picture up to full screen . increase the volume to full . then sit back and let this beautiful music take you through a great journey of pure emotions !
I wish the brass came in with as much enthusiasm as the strings, would be absolute perfection.
They seem shy and ease in from the crescendo, which may be as they're being directed but its kind of a let down... you feel that build and you're ready to FEEL the brass.. and there's just not much there
@trexilll idk if you're in an orchestra or anything like that, but brass can be overbearing in the orchestra, so they are usually quieter than necessary so that they blend in
Oh no doubt, and the problem can be drastically worse in environments with poor acoustics, but it seems to me that to censor the soul of a song simply to refrain from being "overbearing" is weak.. And I doubt that's the problem here, as the brass is perfect at the 6 minute mark, they're just being directed softly earlier. Simply a difference in taste between me/director
I'm not in an Orchestra but I played a few DCI tours (which is perhaps where my bias for powerful brass originated xD)
I love london philharmon orcgestra. Discovered them accidently searching for pinkfloyd. Found time by LPO and ever since been a fan. I would love to see and hear them live!
Really? Are you effing kidding me? They just made the greatest effing rock song into the greatest effing classical song! Well done, London Philharmonic. Well effing done!!!

and to clarify, I'm talking about sections like brass at 2:40, 3:40 vs the intensity of strings at 4:13
Just an opinion but i'm sure i'll get flamed for it

yes I agree, when brass is to strong it usually kills a song for me, I like this very much the way it is.
