    > Hey, love this!

    Thanks!

    > what key is this in btw?

    "C."

  • I like your style of playing. I thought it was very good blues piano. But when I hear the song amazing grace, it kind of takes away from the integrity of the song for me. Hearing the swing/shuffle. I love the chording. But what would happen if there was no swing feel.

    > I like your style of playing.

    Thank you!

    > But when I hear the song amazing grace, it kind of takes away from the integrity of the song for me

I think the integrity is still there, but I do agree that it changes the feel! I suppose for me, the traditional and slower version is "reflective" where this version is more "joyous" (but still nonetheless reflective).

(Another big change is that the song is traditionally in 3/4 time, but I'm playing it in 4/4.)

  • Awesome awesome awesome!!! Loved it bro sounds great!

  • plz tutorial i subbed

  • @henryshee666

    plz tutorial

Making tutorials, unfortunately, is not something I'm particularly good at!

  • Nicely done! Thank you for that.

    Interesting books there too :)

  • @seejayjames

    > Nicely done!

    Thank you!

    > Interesting books there too :)

I discuss "Hunting, Gathering, & Videogames" on my YouTube channel "ToddAllenGates2," and "Dialogue with a Christian Proselytizer" on my channel "ToddAllenGates" (the best video for an overview is called "Using the Socratic Method with Christian Proselytizers").

  • I know you claim to be athiest, but one day I hope you listen to the words of this amazing song you're playing.

"I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see." I hope you see one day.

    GREAT arrangement. Love it!

  • @slofro2

    > I hope you see one day.

My belief bows to wherever the best evidence points--so should one day I come across convincing evidence (be it evidence for Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, etc.), I will gladly convert!

    > GREAT arrangement. Love it!

    Thank you!

  • Just too dang short! I old (75) man learning to play jazz on upright bass. Just as I get into swinging with you - you STOP! Please, do it again but full length this time. I really need to play to keep my arthritic hands somewhat limber.

  • @davnkatz

    > Just too dang short

I'll take that as a compliment: thanks!

  • i want to learn to play this song. is there any way you could make a tutorial video i would be forever greatful

  • @kkingjohn13

    > is there any way you could make a tutorial video

Work & family obligations unfortunately leave little time for YouTube these days, but I'm flattered by your request.

  • @ToddGates is there anyway you'd be able to post/sell the sheet music for this arrangement?

  • @lwk38w

    > is there anyway you'd be able to post/sell the sheet music for this arrangement?

Unfortunately there's no sheet music--it's just my own arrangement (and I don't know how to use, and don't own, the type of software that transcribes the notes while you play them). But I'm flattered by your request!

  • LOVE that people have expanded for the most part out of the norm and playing and singing Gospel to praise God with a different feel like Blues. Do you like R&B/Soul Gospel music?

  • @jlh2667

    > Do you like R&B/Soul Gospel music?

Love it! My one other gospel video is "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," but more are on the way.

    > LOVE that people have expanded for the most part out of the norm and playing and singing Gospel to praise God with a different feel

Well, I confess that praising what people refer to as "God" is not my motive, given my unbelief ... but I never let my atheism interfere with my love for the Good Lord's music!

  • @ToddGates then who is the "Good Lord"?

  • @eurasianchica

    > then who is the "Good Lord"?

    Old expressions die hard.

  • @ToddGates Anyway, it's a beautiful version of this song.

  • @eurasianchica

    > Anyway, it's a beautiful version of this song

    Thank you!

  • NICE!!!!!

  • @greenmamba93

    > NICE!!!!!

    Thanks!!

  • hey, thats nice!

  • > hey, that's nice!

Thanks scootersalih---and I'm honored to see that you saved it as a favorite!

  • Bet you can't play it that well behind your back though, can you? ;-)

(I second the Prof's comment, by the way)

  • > Bet you can't play it that well behind your back though, can you?

No, I couldn't play this version that way ... but I think I could come close to the version played recently by Edward Current's Christian cat (see his July 3rd vid).

  • @ToddGates ...... christian cat LOL!

  • ohh also listen blue music...u

  • Nice! :: claps ::

    Thank you!
