Believe it or not my Dad made improvements and was the supervisor on the

construction of parts of this piece of highway about 50 years ago.

Part of his job was to take some of the curves out. You should have

seen it before he started.

gorgeous drive...have done it a few times, Nevada/Cali has some of the best views....do you have one for the coast Highway 1??

Not yet. Actually later the same day I filmed this, I drove the entire Oregon coast. But I didn't film it because the light was poor.

I want to do a CA-1 video, but I'm not sure where the best scenery is....guess I'll have to check out Google Maps street view to decide.

best views from what I remember....San Simeon, Monterrey, and Carmel....the whole drive is nice, kind of scary unless you are going north :)

Coast side is so beautiful you can get distracted...

@ShingleCreek Nice video, and the music isn't bad. Anyhow Big Sur is one of the best parts to see on the One. A really nice contrast is to drive through San Simeon to Big Sur.

San Simeon has a weird mix of northern rocky beach with prairie type landscaping all around. With Big Sur being very dense with all the tree, a little like your Tahoe drive.

Great video. I took this road one winter and was scared to death at the 180 degree spot. We had just slid off the road, were almost home, and then came to that 180 turn. No guardrails. That was the most afraid I've ever been.

I used to live in Tahoe when I was little. My Mom always got real nervous when we came to the part with the 180-degree hairpin curves at 1:53-2:07.

Hee! I am from Pennsylvania and flew into Reno, rented a jeep and went to Lake Tahoe for vacation this past weekend. I watched this video a week or two before I went and the closer I got to Emerald Bay the more I thought about the twists and turns in this video and the more terrified I got! Hahah! I am happy to say I made it safe and sound though and am glad I made the drive because Emerald Bay left me speechless.
