There's a subcultural tendency for under achievement and anti-education in the black community. Bill Cosby speaks about this mentality frequently and you've unfortunately been a victim of it. When they say "You talk white" what they're really trying to say is "Black people can't succeed or achieve so don't even try". Don't let them hold you back because that's a lie. Black people can and do achieve every day despite enormous peer pressure to under achieve.
