Fix for PS3 updates 4.0 and 4.10 - Can't Connect, Freezing, No IP Address etc

I cant keep up with this crap, i might go to the other platform soon. Im sorry i like this one but i even took twisted metal back. I reformatted mine thinking it was my games that messed up the system.

This is whats going on with my 2 systems i think. I downloaded 4.0 but i wasnt playing every day i started playing again in Jan. I notice now the XMB is real locky and hesitant and my HDD Games going into them are as well and out. I also noticed playing my HDD games the sound is skipping not the graphics though. The controler is acting weird i hit it and the sound happens scrolling thru the XMB buy nuthing happens and sometimes i have to hit the buttons twice in disk based games as well.

@moxxi dude, my brother has the new slim ps3 and after he downloaded the new 4.11 update his ps3 cant obtain ip address or anything but my old ps3 works fine :P Would you think the same works with the 4.11 update?

@RaamAnkka I actually wasn't aware there was a new update. I would definitely try tell your bro to try that. I've heard from a few people that it didn't work after the first try so they did it AGAIN and it worked. Some people took a few tries. That is crazy. I'm sure it's going to happen to me again too. I had some audio/video lag issues while streaming games video previews on PlayStation Store. The manual update fixed it. Never understood why the audio/video lag since all the streaming video is downloaded 100%. Thanks...

not sure about wireless but this is what you do for wired!

you put your network data in network settings and if it didn't work and ya tried like 10 times then when you do it again choose [Easy] and put in the dns manually and boom!

it should work!

@oliverdkh I'm sorry it didn't work for you. You might have to contact Sony. You could also try all of the other crap that I did - port forwarding on my router, praying to every God I'd ever heard of (apparently ALL deity's in ALL religions could give a rat's ass about my video game console issues but maybe you'll be in better standings with them than I was). Don't give up though. You just might have to try a few things.

@moxxi fuck this is fucking pissing me off, first try was 45 times successfully reinstall ofw 4.1 once and then it was working fine, played my game for around 2-3 hours and shitted on me again, I'm trying to reinstall again, how many reinstall are you suppose to do? do you do it again after you reinstall again? ex. reinstalled again and go back to system update do it again? and do it again??

hmmm well I'm having the problem with connecting to my ip address. no freezing problems (knock on wood), but i did now update via my flashdrive to 4.0 again. still no luck connecting. It's been days and i haven't even been able to log into PSN. Any additional help you could give?

i have a SATA 500gb hdd from a laptop wen i put it in ps3 it says install 4.00 if i do this will it work ..SATA 500gb 7200 ..also i hear 7200 will make ps3 overheat is this right or can i use 7200rpm ..i will try this and comment back later
