Not bad , It was a bold to send the series in a different direction. A well made film with carpenter's style still in tacted (with him as producer along with debra hill & music again with Alan Howarth joining carpenter)
I agree. There is only so much you can do with the same storyline. Halloween III attempted to show the potential flexibility of the franchise. Too bad it is highly under-rated.

Seriously I never really liked the Mike Myers character and the entire series suffers from boring repetitiveness because of it.
It is about time the whole Halloween franchise was canned and MM JUST DIED!!...The first film was creepy when I saw it as a kid in the late 1980s/early 90s, but the whole back from the dead again and again gets on my wick, this was quite creepy seeing it in the 90s, but now I just think H3 is bloody rubbish...I am not going to thumb it down though because somebody has taken time to upload it, besides I would be the 13th person to dislike, no thanks, somebody else can do it lol.

The music is very similar to the one in The Thing, also from John Carpenter and released prior in 1982. Right at the beginning, there is a nod to the typical gloomy 2-tone theme from The Thing (Humanity Part 2 on the OST). Throughout the movie, the same kind of synthesizer music is used. In the last scene of this clip, the music is copied one-to-one. Listen to the intro from The Thing or several other clips where the same score is used ;)
@TheGarfieldxx30000 Because it was done how John Carpenter intended it to be done. H4 would have been about ghosts or poisoned candy or something else that revolved around Halloween. He already did the bogeyman and witchraft themes. How many times do you want somebody to exploit the same plot in a movie? H4-H8 were garbage, with the exception of H20 which was actually good and would have made sense if he survived the explosion in H2. But Myers died in H2. Thats how Carpenter wrote it.
If your theory were applied, then sequels would not exist and producers would have to brainstorm on how to make something totally new to please the fans of those very horror classics. Plus any real Halloween fan would know the storyline to the series. This movie came about because Myers was badly injured after being shot so many times and had to recover from his wounds. Youre right, this movie had nothing to do with Mikey because once again Mikey was badly injured and they couldnt make the movie about him because the series wouldve ended because Loomis wouldve just kept on tracking him down until they captured him and locked him up for good. The thing I think that people miss is that even though it lacks The Shape/Myers, it still feels very much like a Halloween movie. Explaining only enough so that you're not lost is a hallmark of Halloween, and that there's so much left field type of stuff with the sheer weirdness really helps sell the unease, especially when they get to town.
I remember i hated this movie cuz Mike myers wasnt in it the 1st time i saw it!! but this is such an underated movie its real good & has a true meaning of what halloween is about!!

in a way, halloween iii is connected to the myers story. both stories dealt with the ancient celtic practices which supposedly caused certain persons to do bizarre terrifying things around samhain. thus we could say that cochran and myers were affected by the same forces. someone could even make a story showing that myers met cochran. maybe cochran was involved in giving myers that curse that made myers do what myers was so good at doing. maybe cochran was cheering for myers's activities.
I actually quite like this film. It would've done a lot better commercially if they had made it a stand alone movie and called it something different than "Halloween".

The mom/wife at 6:15 played "Annie" in the original "Halloween". I also heard that Jamie Lee Curtis (main star of the original "Halloween") has a voice cameo in this one. I think she played the phone operator at the very end of the movie.

It is about time the whole Halloween franchise was canned and MM JUST DIED!!...The first film was creepy when I saw it as a kid in the late 1980s/early 90s, but the whole back from the dead again and again gets on my wick, this was quite creepy seeing it in the 90s, but now I just think H3 is bloody rubbish...I am not going to thumb it down though because somebody has taken time to upload it, besides I would be the 13th person to dislike, no thanks, somebody else can do it lol.

The music is very similar to the one in The Thing, also from John Carpenter and released prior in 1982. Right at the beginning, there is a nod to the typical gloomy 2-tone theme from The Thing (Humanity Part 2 on the OST). Throughout the movie, the same kind of synthesizer music is used. In the last scene of this clip, the music is copied one-to-one. Listen to the intro from The Thing or several other clips where the same score is used ;)

He already did the bogeyman and witchraft themes. How many times do you want somebody to exploit the same plot in a movie? H4-H8 were garbage, with the exception of H20 which was actually good and would have made sense if he survived the explosion in H2. But Myers died in H2. Thats how Carpenter wrote it.

Common sense: If Myers was not intended to be in any other films, then they wouldve had him die in the first film dumbass. He was shot in the face, shot in the chest 6 times and in H2 he was shot in the chest a few more times in the hospital, then once again shot in the face by Laurie and eventually blown up. At this point fans believe he isnt human, so it wouldnt make sense to not have him in later films. Same with Jason, the invincibility factor, making for great films.

The thing I think that people miss is that even though it lacks The Shape/Myers, it still feels very much like a Halloween movie. Explaining only enough so that you're not lost is a hallmark of Halloween, and that there's so much left field type of stuff with the sheer weirdness really helps sell the unease, especially when they get to town.

in a way, halloween iii is connected to the myers story. both stories dealt with the ancient celtic practices which supposedly caused certain persons to do bizarre terrifying things around samhain. thus we could say that cochran and myers were affected by the same forces. someone could even make a story showing that myers met cochran. maybe cochran was involved in giving myers that curse that made myers do what myers was so good at doing. maybe cochran was cheering for myers's activities.
