I think we'd be a lot further ahead in the discussion of health care reform ( read: health insurance ) if people could quit waving the Constitution and the Federalist Papers around.... oh, BTW I've read all in upper division Univ. of Ut poli-sci classes (Roves mentor was my prof - J. D. Williams)
So many are so far off topic that it's not surprising that the real issues are lost in the melee.
The best think responders/commenters could do: Stay on topic.
You haven't read the bill have you? You don't know that this is more about reforming insurance providers, than it is anything else. It's not a single payer plan and it doesn't even come close.
I support HR 3200 and hope that Congress will come to their senses and vote yes, or yea depending on what verbiage you want to use.
you asked if I had read HR 3200. I have read to much of it. I ask you..have you read the U.S. Constitution ? If so, what is the diffrence between "provide for and promote the"?
What up with all this comparing everything to the Constitution? Where were you guys when the wire tapping started without a warrant? Where were you guys when the "free speech Zones" started under Bush Jr. We sure could have used you in those battles and many more of the Constitutional violations that happened under his watch.
See this is where your so far off the focus of the bill. It does just exactly that "provides for and promotes the common welfare of the people". It provides a level playing field and promotes competition. Again, read the bill. I know, I know, it's a huge bill..Well it's not. It's only 23 pages of a dime store paper back novel in content. Complex, yes. Requires focus and comprehension, yes..but do able if you take your time.
With a little more focus you will clearly see the 1st paragraph of the Constitution states "provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare". This bill does not promote the general Welfare. It provides Welfare. There is a diffrence. I am for reform but there are better ways of doing it that dont break the Constitution. And if you like providing welfare so much hook me up out of your own pocket, cause I don't have healthcare. I'll be looking for your personal check in the mail.
Do something that makes sense end the tyranny of cheneybush and the republicans who ruined our economy and killed over 5000 of our americans soldiers/citizens and killed innocent iraq citizens and children for a lie and a phoney war to profit. read the contract that haliburton got - it is fing ridiculous - it is an insult to the taxpayers. don't begrudge someone of healthcare - we are the laughing stock of the modern world - the only one where healthcare is for the rich -
Dude if you are unemployed - where are you going to get the money? This country had money to pay Haliburton billions of dollars to exploit out ameican soldiers and taxpayers. Halliburton (and it other names to numerous to be regulated) takes tapayers dollars and places them in offshore bank so that it does not have to pay taxes, contracts n koreans to do the work that they are supposed to be doing to rebuild iraq. Hali/dick cheney charges our american soldier $7.50 for outdated can of coke
believe me Obaidkarki If I ever find myself in a financial position to do so I'll be knocking on your door. You are one knowledgeable cat and I would love to kick it. I do like me some milk. But when the conversations turn to geopolitics and the like I'll have to bust out a bottle of Johnny Walker with ice. Peace friend.
One of the problems with most critics of what you are saying about the language in the beginning of the Constitution is that the English language has been butchered to the point where most in America don't really understand the nuances between word usage.
For example, depending on their context, terms such as "yell" and "scream" denote very different character forms of articulation. One would imply a mere raising of volume, while the other implies a greater intensity and shrillness of voice.
Most people today use the words completely interchangeably, and with other words, the technical definition has been altered over years of societal evolution. The word envy, which is usually used in conjunction with desiring what others have or a light form of jealousy, was defined as a form of malevolence in earlier times.
Outside of the greater minds in the linguistic fields, most people have a very poor concept of how terms are properly defined, most because they don't read much, if at all.
Great thinking!!! Put it in writing and send it to your senator, if not, Ill send it to mine!!

@ladybird1953 Yeah, why would we want to look at the foundation of a country to find a future?
