Actually, most of the founding fathers were athiests. They believed in promoting the christian faith for the general populace's cultural good. They believed in religious freedom.
For the record, I used to be a HUGE fan of Stine. Had all of his DVDs. But then I saw other comics and realized that Stine's work, while decent, is really nothing special. Anyone looking for a clean comedian who is 10 times funnier than Stine, look up some of Brian Regan's stuff on here. I like that Brad is a Christian, as am I, but I don't find him funny anymore. And he is too divisive, pitting liberals against conservatives as if Christians of the liberal/Democratic persuasion do not exist.

Swearing and view points have nothing to do with the matter! The point of view of someone has no outcome over how funny they are. There are religious people who are funny, as there are atheist.
I don't mind religion, and am open to all trains of spiritual thought, but if you're going to talk about a topic it better be funny as that is the point of comedy. Otherwise essentially you're just talking about the topic.
I'll give you an example... Cris Rock never makes me laugh, why? Because I'm not into bad language, I consider it a short-cut to comedy, in bad taste and disrespectful... therefore it doesn't resonate for me or in me.

He makes commentary that conforms to his beliefs and opinions. All comedians do this.
Why is he not funny? Because he doesn't cuss every other word? Or because he simply has different points of view than you do?
I can't say that Chris Rock is more an atheist than a comedian for example. Belief systems have nothing to do with comedy.
You don't like, don't watch. I avoid Chris Rock for example.

For something to strike a chord, it has to resonate. To resonate it needs a particular cavity or space.
We, as humans, differ in tastes, needs, wants, interests... all these are different 'cavities'.
So basically, what is funny to one person, may not be funny to another.
Just because this fellow 'didn't make you laugh once' is not because he isn't funny, it's simply because his 'vibe' doesn't resonate with you.
