I know a guy who was mishandled by the police, so his muay thai training kicked in and he elbowed one, knocking him out. The others beat him and took him to jail where he sat for 3 months without bail.
Then a judge watched the footage of his arm being twisted back in an unnatural manner, and he declared that any sensible person would fight back if their arm was being hyperextended. He was awarded $75 for every day he sat in jail. I fucking love justice.

The reason why tax payers pay for police as opposed to invidiuals is because everyone benfits from the police force (because of the deterenet effect) even if you never actually call the police..

Cops are allowed to frisk you for weapons. This was established in Terry v. Ohio. Its also known as a "Terry frisk" and is completely legal. You could verbally refuse all you want, but the cops will just have a laugh and continue to pat you down.

A legal and necessary pat-down is one thing, but the individual in question has a human right to verbally - or even physically - refuse if things go too far.
