Blackberry Storm 9530 5.0 OS Update Review

i got it i had to go to the options,advance options,accesibility,and it was set to reverse contrast...how did it get there? i have no idea but thanks anyways

Hey infaretics i havent updated my phone to that version but i have a question...my blackberry shows everything in negative quality home screen...and pics that i take...i take the picture and it shows fine then suddenly turns negative ive changed thet options to normal but thats still happening PLEASE HELP!!!!!

@iiitzTalent Yeah, I would have probably went to the picture settings and made sure that wasn't set to negative, but if it still occurs, your best bet is to plug it into your computer and do a restore to factory settings. Just make sure to back up all your stuff.

Nice vid< but i was wondering... i unlocked a blackberry storm 9530 and was wondering if i needed like internet or something to update to the latest OS?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't come updated out of the box. You might wana plug it in to your computer and run desktop manager and run an update just in case.

HELP!! I recently updated my storm for the first time..i went from the 4.7 to 5.0 but my phone completely restarted!! I lost everything on my phone. Is that normal or did i do something wrong??

How did you update it? Through wireless update or desktop manager? If you did it from a desktop manager, the desktop application should have made a backup for you to restore your information. I had not lost any of my information so I am not sure why that happened. Where did you get the update from?

Can i browse with this phone using my home wireless connection? or is the only way you can browse is by getting a data plan?

Hey man, I see that you have a "SMS and MMS' icon. How did you get that?? I have an unlocked Storm using it with AT&T right now with NO data/internet plan. All I have is a "SMS" icon. the storm will only allow me to send regular texts (SMS) but not any pics or vids (MMS). I have updated to the v5.0.0.419 OS and still not able to send or receive MMS's. Thanks in advance for any help.

It came with mine, I have verizon so Im not sure if it works for specific networks or not. I had that icon from launch date.

Yeah, I got mine from google. Theirs other ones that developers made and you can find them in the App World, but Google tends to not work for me a lot.

@asim012 Plug it in to your computer via USB, and then open the software that came with it. There should be an update icon, and it should update. Make sure you have the up-to-date version of the Blackberry Desktop manager (CD that came in the box)

@Cin3mattic You can go on the verizon website to download it, or just plug the blackberry into the computer, and let Blackberry Desktop Manager to the rest (if you have it installed which the cd came with the phone.) If not, just browse around verizons website :p

@infaretics i actually just flashed my storm to cricket.... its fully flashed and i want the 5.0 update BUT i heard that if i do that itll take away the full flash and ill only b able to txt and call... so can you or n e body else help out and tell me if this is true i dont want to lose my full flash!

Thanks for showing the improvements on the new BB 5.0 platform. I know the old version was very eerie for those wanting to give the Storm a go (considering all its faults).

Based on my own research and budget, I am picking up a second hand storm tomorrow.
