@coreymineard That is indeed how the last batch of the Epiphone Firebird VIIs were wired, with the middle pickup wired directly to its volume control and the switch only operating on the neck and bridge pickups, but I happen to own a 2001 Gibson Firebird VII (in vintage sunburst) and it has 2 volume controls (1 for the neck pickup, 1 for middle and bridge - not as he says for neck and bridge) and 2 tone controls. Also the middle position is not the middle pickup but middle and bridge together.

@coreymineard Well, in my personal opinion, the Firebird Studios - even the ones built by Gibson itself - were poor copies of the real Firebirds with their mini-humbuckers and their neck-thru construction. The last of the Epi Firebird VIIs were also very good value for money. (Real) Firebirds are very versatile guitars. I'm sure you'll love and enjoy your 'bird. ;-)
