I find it interesting that America needs to be the best in everything, but then don't seem to care that nobody else gives a shit about what they are best at.
@DarkRezo something the english came up. from association football. as it was originally called. we adopted the shorthand for it *soccer* then they started calling it football with everyone else. also australia and africa and new zealand also call it soccer. i think. something like that
HAHAHAHAHA he said in soccer there are 2 defenders, are you an idiot, there are 4 defenders and there has never been anything less than 4. fucking hell kid, do your research into this sport.
at the start he says theres 30 teams in an area no larger than texas or new york. uk is around the size of florida and theres over 200 professional teams
ever think about doin a follow up to this? seein how SA is comin up this summer and the US is one of the 32 teams to qualify... how have things changed, have they changed, is soccer support in the US growing on both a club (MLS) and national (USMNT) level? It would be very intersting, I really enjoyed this video!
Hey Awesome job! I grew up playing FUTBOL in NYC. I learned along side people from different countries and the states, and you know what? It WAS an awesome experience. Best complement ever was that someone assumed I was from Argentina, I proudly stated I learned all my skills in the USA. A genuine home grown player!
dude..where do u live?...i saw u on the documentary in a soccer field all by yourself thats awsome..if there was a field like that close to where i live..i would be all day playing soccer and practicing free kicks
ok...i really dont care for a complete stranger on youtube to believe me...u mean nothing and are no one to me...wasnt writing to you...now if u dont mind i need to sleep...i have a match vs udinese tomorrow cool guy
Nice video, but one of the interviewees said the audience was a billion. You state that it was 2.1 billion. If either of you is wrong, then perhaps you should edit the video.
Also, your layout of the field of play is somewhat incorrect. There are NEVER only two defenders. Sometimes, a team might use three centre-backs to use an extra midfielder or striker, but normal defences consist of a back four, or two wing backs who alternate from full-backs to wingers.
soccer is more than a game it is a way of life i am puerto rican i was born in new york my whole family are baseball fans plain and simple, but it wasnt until 2006 when i finaly laid eyes on soccer realy for the first time in my lide did i find my true love. the passion the dedication the energy i knew i had to be a part of it; and i have been a DIE HARD soccer fan since i plan to go to the 2010 world cup in south africa. i hope usa finds its way to soccer its my dream.
thanks for this cool video! my names Sophia, kinda feelin bored if any1 wants to join me on cam or wana chat i will be signed on at __ FriendlyFlirts(.COM) __ my user ID there is Sophia_cntvqdnooauj chat soon xx its FR33 to j0in! mwah
yeah, i liked the video too, except the last part. As much as we love the Beautiful Game, It is no less corrupt than any of our major sports: Match-Fixing scandals in Italy, football firms that charge other fans and disrupt matches worldwide, and the political posturing that always comes with international matches (Argentina '78, Honduras - El Salvador "soccer war")
I think it would have been far better by saying: 11 player, starting by the goalkeeper, deffender, midfilders and atackers.
any team, could very well have just 2 defender, but the managers will have to be extremely crazy to do so, probably 4 is a reasonable number of defenders.
That means the US has the potential to be a soccer juggernaut that a dream team from England and Brazil could never hope to beat, but no one cares. Soccer's cool, but football's king here.
Liked the documentary. I really don't understand why people get so upset when Americans call it soccer. Italians call it calcio and what's the big deal? As long as they kick it in the back of the net, who cares? Although I have to agree that the names of some MLS teams sound a bit lame, eg. LA Galaxy, Kansas Wizards...
yeah thats right.. soccer in the us should more like in the rest of the world, for it to be popular! the names of the teams really have a great impact! I remember when there were shootouts in the MLS... that was so funny! but the us is getting better at soccer, futbol or football... whatever you want to call it!
i m from germany and the team here are called fc bayern münchen (translated=football club bayern munich) but i think the name isnt important you should see the atmosphere in the arenas, its just great!!!
Nice documentary. US has great potential. I believe is just a matter of time until US become a soccer nation. For the men not really popular. It's popular among the women though.

soccer was invented in england. The word (not just the sport, obvs), it's short for association football. association>>>ssoc>>>soccer
they also used to call rugby "rugger".
So get YOUR fact straights.

hey Great video, i lived in the states for 6 years and growing up in Italy i was shocked how much the sport is overlooked in the US..
to the rest of the world its a thrilling ride of 90 minutes each game with high skill, amazing teamwork, indivisual effort, and great goals
yet when i try to bring soccer up in conversation with americans they dont seem interested in it.
from what i see its a sport to keep kids busy and active in the states.
i hope it grows there as well :)

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world but definitely not in the USA.
Baseball,Football and basketball are the most popular sports in the USA but those 3 sports suck.
