For the record, I never heard about the SNL sketch until now. Premises are often repeated in comedy. For example, SNL had a sketch about a man waking from a day-long coma only to find his wife had already remarried and sold his car, which bears striking resemblance to a State sketch titled Light Coma. The differentiating factor is execution. That considered, you'll see that my sketch, while similar in premise to that of SNL, Mr. Show or any other news team sketch, is executed very differently.

I gotta say, it's pretty much exact in execution and idea. The green screen background, the overlay of cast, the on and on of ever-more-rediculous anchors. But, I think what makes your sketch funny are the names, which are completely original and remind me of the type of worldplay you'd see on Carmen Sandiego villians, which was refreshingly funny. I still stick to my guns about comedy lover being Vanessa though, haha. Either that or she has a stalker.

I got to say- the execution is almost the EXACT same as SNL- though you may not have known of the SNL sketch the similarities make it hard to believe that it wasn't based off of that. It's also weird that the sketchies judges didn't notice that this had been done before. Either way you can't claim it's an original joke because it already exists and therefor the ideas were spread to Millions of people before it came to you and your idea HAD to have been influence by those who saw it.

Is it funny? Well, the concept made me augh.

I get it...it's a satire. The humor isn't in the peoples' gag names, or even the fields that they're covering. The underlying humor is that it's satirizing the fact that these days news networks focus more oth their broadcast personalities than the news that they're broadcasting.
