forget about the career oppurtunities for one moment and just think about the reality of getting injured in a full on war battle. THats what its all about these days. There just isn't anything to gain from this. I seriously would not do it. Thousands of people have suffered serious life changing injuries from joining the army. You can't even make a life in this enviroment. Make love and not war and fighting. Its just a mistake people make
It depends greatly on who your training staff are as to how hard your training is, it is definitely not the same across the board even within training regiments it varies.
if you really sit and think about the reality of a job like this it totally puts you off the though of even dreaming about signing up for this. I would not sign up for war. No possible good can come from this. Consider that thousands of people have been injured in afghanistan. DO not think for one minute that everybody who joined the forces enjoyed it or had a good time. An honest person would always admit if they did not like something where some people pretend they enjoyed it
@camandsam1 Not being in afghan though. Defending the country can be done from within britain without even leaving the country and is in fact more effecttive. MOre and more people are admitting there is no reason for us to be there. I once had a dream this american women pointed to an entire platoon and she said they are chasing the war on terror and the entire platoon was jumping through the afghan desert on pogo sticks in the dream.
@1CAppleby i know what you mean and im british, this is not that realistic i have been to catterick where the infantry train and as soon as you step off the coach the recruitment staff are screaming at you straight away, tipping our beds and locker over throwing your stuff out the window and even throwing boots at you, but tbh lol i don't think they are going to include that in the commercial dvd.
This seems a very sensible training program. When I arrived at Boot Camp (recruit training) the screaming and cursing started before the bus' doors were even open. I was 17 years old and thought I'd blundered into a lunatic asylum by mistake.
Later on, the instructors started explaining things in a calm, understandable, relatively low-stress manner; that's when I seriously began learning how to do things. Sure, the induced stress served a purpose, but I'm not sure it should come as first thing.
@Osage1956 In the British Army, for Phase 1 (getting people up to fitness and mental rquirements) instructors will verbally rip the shit out of recruits. It's important to remember that nothing said is personal, it's making sure you can just get on with it no matter what people say.
In Phase 2 (trade training) instructors talk to you as a friend rather than scream at you; you've proved you can handle abuse so there's no point dishing it out anymore. It's probably the same in the US.
@MarkramUK Thanks for the response; especially for omitting the "you fooking yanks" bullshit I frequently get.
My son-in-law, recently discharged, tells me the U.S. Army is doing it a bit more like the British pattern now. During my time, they ranted and howled at us all the way through Boot Camp. In A-School - our equivalent to your Phase 2, I guess - they taught the specific skills of our rating. Less ranting, softer howling.
do the army take on school leavers who have not gained gcse's as it says on the website on certain jobs no specific qualifications are required for certain jobs.
@MrVestaso Yes, but i'll warn you (im a heavy smoker and was during my time in the army) during basic training, you will rarely get a chance to smoke. If your used to having one in the morning, you will be weaned out of that habit, same goes for after meals etc. however after a couple of months, on weekends you can smoke when you want. After training, you will be able to smoke more or less whenever you get a free 5 minutes, including when you wake up.
Ah yes.. i bet these lads cant wait to start dodging bullets for the greedy Corporate elite warmongers..Good luck guys as they are taking us to World war 3 with Iran soon..dont let them brainwash you like they did me 25yrs ago..we all need to wake up..This isnt about sovereignty..Your fighting for the greedy corporate elite who are bringing down our system globally...
@WiseEarthMan To be honest mate, most people these days are joining because they either want job security and to get away from the recession, I dont think the political side of things phases many people anymore. Its not really a case of ''im joining to serve my country'' but ''im joining to put food on the table for my wife and kids....''
@addicted2guitar90 nice way to put it. Someone who actually doesn't bring a bunch of political nonsense to the conversation, but someone whom actually tells the dire truth. When I get out of high school i'm joining my countries navy not just for service for my country but to get the job training and skills and have a job right out of high school.
@Scottishamerican1995 I would recommend the armed forces to anyone, be it army, navy or air force. My problem was I joined straight out of school, didnt realise how good it actually was money wise, well-being etc. until I left and tried settling down the civvy way.
If I could have changed anything, I would have waited until I was about 18, given myself a couple of years to grow-up and find my feet in civvy-street. Then I would have known to settle with the army as a full-time 24 year career!
@addicted2guitar90 Quick question, what benefits do you get in your armed forces? In America it seems pretty decent from where I look at, but I could be wrong. I was also thinking of rather being a machinist or being an seabee in the Navy because my grandfathers were in the navy one as a seabee in Vietnam and the other working Aviation, plus my father wants me to join the Navy if I choose the military.
@Scottishamerican1995 Political nonesense is what gets us in the s*it in the 1st place..As i,m writing the powers that be are pushing for war with Iran/Syria which will lead to Thermo Nuclear war with Russia and China..But hey,it doesn,t matter as long as it keeps the cannon fodder employed..Do people actually think anymore??
@Mexxeos dont do it!..wake up...You are fighting for the Global Corporations not your country..I was a soldier 20yrs ago and then i woke up...If you look into it they stroke your ego when your young and use you as cannon fodder to fuel their pockets..Iran war is coming and WW3..as their system collapses the Banks are taking us to war..Stop and think..Dont rush this..Peace is what our species needs..You want to get old and see your Grandkids dont you??? :(
@SCE2AUX Its not about against whom..If you can forget the Sovereignty issue and realise that wars are a big money making issue..You will realise that soldiers are just cannon fodder in the Middle East..Terrorism is the excuse to keep endless wars continuing now, which is a hidden enemy..For every tax payers dollar that goes towards war there is interest on it by the Fed Reserve which is a elitist banking cartel that has nothing to do with the country...Thats where the profit goes..
@selimagev you do know the british army is regarded the best trained soldiers in the world. on top of that, if your a yank, we are definately a cut above you... considering even your delta force are trained by our SAS... mobile phones and internet means nothing, and to be truthful, it was a rareity for me to be allowed to use a phone, and never used internet during training, we were too busy day in and day out. So tell me selimagev... who did you serve with, and for how long? or maybe a wannabe?
@addicted2guitar90 Where did you do your training? What Cap Badge were you? We got our phones taken off us on day 3 week 1 and only got it back when I DAORd on week 5 day 2. I was badged to Grenadier Guards, obviously at ITC.
can you not just try to remove it by plucking it out with a knife or something? i know docs would say otherwise but thats what i used to do without fail.
@addicted2guitar90 i tried but it made it worse ive got one on my finger now and i cant toch anything nevermind pick owt up and nhs will take 5 week waiting list do u know if the army will do owt about it it is only a 15min procedure
@manum42n haha its not call of duty you know. no you dont, thats down to 2IC or section commanders, generally speaking though for a squad of 6-9 there would be 1x LSW gunner and 1x sniper, depending on the nature of the operation they might throw in a support gunner and less the sniper (GPMG/minime), the rest will have the L85A2 rifle with one or two blokes carrying a javelin or comms pack etc.
@manum42n no u cant just choose lol but if u wanted for example an LMG u would apply for that trade in the army and if u wanted a sniper u would apply for that trade ect
Im about to join in a few months and his talking about getting a real trade , well sorry pal not every can . The Army for some is the last resort , like me.
But im joining for different reasons , because jobs at my area and boring , what do you want to do stack shelves for the rest of your life? this is a real trade , do 4 years in the army and when you leave to find a job that you really want to do they will see how commited you are considering you were inarmy
MARK MY ONIST WORDS DO NOT JOIN AND IF YOU JOIN DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME NEVER JOIN INFANTRY GET A TRADE REMEMBER ITS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS WATCH BAD LADS ARMY ITS LIKE THAT IN 4YEARS I ONLY EVER WENT TWO ITALY FOR FUN SKIING THE REST IS LEIS NO LIFE YOU NEVER GET RESPECT WE NEVER HAVE MONEY170WEEKLEY PAID MONTHLEY I GOT 600 MONTHLEY ALOT OF BULLYING ALOT OF FALL OUTS FITNESS IS NOT FUN READ BELOW
@tyroneuva1 600 per month, Im guessing you failed to complete basic training then because that sounds like recruit pay? because even infanteers start off at 17,000 per year, which is about 1100 per month... either that or you joined decades ago? theres bullying wherever you go, and fitness is there for a reason, at the end of the day its like i said, it isnt all roses like these vids make out to be, but its not as bad as some people make it out either, best bloody time of my life the army was!
@tyroneuva1 ... Right. 1. They bully the weak because they don't want idiots to be protecting their backs in war. 2. What you put about money is not true. I know for a fact that at Harrogate army college alone, they get paid about £900-£1,000 a month if you stick the first month or so. 3. RESPECT IS THE ESSENCE OF THE BRITISH ARMY. That's why there are ranks for Christ sake! If you don't deserve a rank, you don't deserve respect. Now I've ran out of space. Otherwise I'd have continued this rant.
im ex 4year/serve number25145308 RFN (PTE)uva my strong advice hand on heart don t join its not wat it seems reason most the time your doing pointless ghard duties for days on end crismas followd by new years ghuerd no going home for 6 months at the time no sex at all no girlfreind share room with 14 no peach no respect of no one treatid bad cold showers as sumtimes worm not working picking up cigs all day at barracks weekley wakeup6 sleep11 ironing till10 mostley cleaning han on heart
I think the people who are interested in joining are not really aware of just what they are getting themselves into. YOu are almost nearly signing yourself into a deadly situation. ANybody who denies its foolish signing up for war is a lier
@xmazeeeeee Thats the army air corps. And itss a corps built up of regiments, not a regiment in itself. And if its something your interested in, I too served in the AAC as a groundie, fucking good fun, so would recommend it to anyone looking for something extra in their daily life rather than just going on exercise and firing ranges all the time, sling a few land rovers while a lynx is 2 inches above touching your head, or do a bit of doorgunning :)
They had to have editted the tough parts out. I suppose they didn't show the part of crawling all day long in the mud, doing a bunch of press-ups then told you weren't doing the press-ups properly and start all over again. It can't be that easy.
@oeyesea Or the times when we got ripped out of bed at 3:30am, and screamed at, 2 minutes for scran at 7am and then thrashed on the assault course and drill square until 2pm just for an hour of fucking bayonets.... some good times, and some not so funny ones!
@Zerggx666 Lose weight, its only 1.5 stone, if you cant lose that, then your not working hard enough physically, therefore unfit for service, and you will be hanging out of your arse in basic training even if you got through the loophole. You don't want to be the guy lagging behind on tab's and runs, because you will very quickly become disliked by the rest of the platoon for being a mong,
cant believe a got deferred for a year iv now waited 8 months and i have to wait till february to start the whole application and medical process a wont be seeing my ITC date till about may if not longer SUCKS
@traceradam didnt want to be junior entry and didnt know i would get deferred i got told from my doc and my physio i wouldnt get deferred and at 15.7years i had other plans as soon as i decided the army is what i wanted to do i went and done all the application process
@traceradam well it is due to medical reasons if thats what you mean but when your on fitness days with other recruits hoping to join and you come 1st in the press up test 1st in the sit up test complete the jerry can lift to the max allowed and come 3rd in a 2 mile run they didnt actually have a good reason for me to be deferred they were just being weird with me
@traceradam something like 50-45 and same with situps in 2 mins but you can rest inbetween but i done 96 push ups and 94 situps in the 2 mins no-one got close and nah im getting my 3 month fitness thing in about 2 weeks because i got deferred so i have to do that for 3 months but selection is really easy if you aint unfit and you are confident you will get a pass and if you are really fit and confident youll get an A what job isit you want to do??
@traceradam 60 pressups, 60 situps in 2 minutes. You will do this in pairs, going down to your partners fist and back up. Its different for females, something like 45... As for run times, 9:30 or less is a good point to be at, 10:30 or less will probably get you past selection, any more q's about selection, basic training, or unit stuff just inbox me and if I have time I will help.
@traceradam I am not condoning this in any way to any potential recruits... however to keep you confident. I never done PE in school, always had an excuse. I used to run 500 metres and id have lung burn. I smoked 30 a day (still do) and was an alcoholic (didnt tell the army obviously). I had 3 months til basic and stopped training. I got drunk 5 days a week, and went to phase 1 day 1 with a hang over.... I passed out as a soldier......
do not worry about the physical. its all in the head mate!
@addicted2guitar90 but I did make it 20 times harder for myself haha so do keep on training, but if you cant do 60/60 now, i guarantee at the end of basic, you will go home smashing out 100 pressups per 5 minutes!
@addicted2guitar90 oh and good luck mate, I remember how it was at your stage, nerve wrecking, but now it actually stays as good memories for me so enjoy it and make the most of it!
@Paul999799 no they aren't, you do the military swim tests as part of MATTS training for the army, however, it isnt compulsory that you pass, but if you don't, you will be limited in your career... especially if your unit has a whitewater rafting week or something, you won't be allowed to go for insurance reasons. Only in the marines its compulsory...for obvious reasons.
@addicted2guitar90 Thanks. Do the Royal Military Police have to do them as part of the phase 2 training or, for example, as part of pre-deployment training?
@brokkylad just run, run and run. keep pushing yourself harder n longer each time and your body will atone for the stress your putting on it, same as strength training, when it gets easier up the load. it wont happen over night but keep at it
my dear lord this video chats shit, compassion, taking easy first couple of week's, load of bollocks, i went to training and the second we got off the coach we had to put are suitcases above are head in the rain and run to are accomadation which was about 1.5 miles away, getting called useless civilian c*nts lmao. plus if u think ur using the internet or phone 4get it ull be polishing and ironing. u have to have a thick skin, this video is very misleading, total bollocks, especially for infantry
@mrhumperdoodle You don't know what you're talking about. I'm British but have lived in Canada for over half my life. I served with the British Army in the 1980's including a two year tour of N. Ireland. The Canadian Army is good but its entire heritage and methodology is based on the British Army. There is no tougher training than in the British Forces, Parachute Regiment and Royal Marines are a case in point.
im 14 and going into the british army when i leave school at 16 i want to be a regular soldier does it take any kind of qualifcation's and is it hard work getting in the army like training wise , and how long does it take to get to make it to afghanistan and i dont mean getting there as in the traveling way thanks !
For all your information: If you are planning on joining, I would take the video with a grain of salt. It is kind of mollycoddling with the whole compassionate/inspirational leadership, not shouting etc. truth be told, it is NOT easy, and if you feel you need compassion, then dont bother joining, you will make it harder for yourself in the long run, when it gets really tough and you find your bound to it for 4.5 years minimum. On another note, the army is brilliant! the hard work pays off
@addicted2guitar90 couldnt of put it better mate, people too often think that when they get to training it is going to be like selection or other look at life courses they have been on.
If I'm left handed does that mean I would have to learn how to fire a weapon right handed in the Army? I've always been a good shot with a .222 bolt rifle, I live in the countryside and I use it hunting every day but still don't know if i could use an SA80 left handed, I've heard that the breach on a standard SA80 can be changed to suit a left handed shooter, I know some weapons can be used left handed but i've been told i might have to shoot right handed, can someone help me on this, thanks.
@enjoi368 Yes you will be taught to fire right-handed only. This is just incase you need to pick up somebody elses rifle and use it. Once in the field army, and on operational deployments, some units allow for rifles to be configured, be it left/right handed, or changing the sights/grips etc. by the way, there was a lefty in my old training platoon, and he said it wasnt too bad after he got used to it, just he was shit when in the standing position. Glenn.
But still by the way please stop talking crap about us, i love the UK but i hate it more than anything when somebody talks crap on us, we are both on the same sides, then again idiots here need to stop talking trash on the UK.
@Elieeeeboy i might be fighting beside u one day, might be joining the USMC, of course we have different ways of training (i like yours better) but we arent so much different, both the UK and US are great countries and both of us have great soldiers.
if you are thinking of joining then you might want to look into bionics. don't even think about it. i saw this one guy one the train in london who had a help for heroes arm band and had lost his legs and had metal plates on his limbs to walk on and all he had was an old wheelchair with a very worn out cusion. they won't offer you any help if you get injured they will just tell you to clear off basically
@210482fmj Hi, I know It's very sad, but there are charity's that are helping people like this soldier you saw on the train. And of course it's getting less and less likely to be injured or killed. Are you planing to join the army?
@acetoxicCOD not anymore. The level of injuries i have seen has had quite a disturbing effect on me. What i find more disturbing now is our government is sending more people into battles. This whole thing is going sour. war is only meant as a last resort like when the nazis were invading uk but we are just sending people into harms way for no real reason and are just creating problems. i still am worried about how short a time ww2 happened. it doesn't look good 4 the future
@210482fmj I am not trying to say I'm right or your wrong but, NATO are there to stop Islamic terrorism spreading to Europe and America, there trying to stop 7/7 and 9/11 happening. There protecting you and me from horrible things. WW3 would start if we weren't there, not if we are. I am, as I said, NOT trying to say your wrong, I'm just saying my opinion. My opinion and yours are exactly equal. :)
@210482fmj It's hard to though, the Taliban (being in there own country) have the upper hand. We can't bomb all of Afghanistan and Pakistan because we would kill so many civilians. We are not doing all of it though. All of NATO and the U.N are there to help the A.P and the A.N.P to there feet. Until then It's are duties to stay there.
hey everyone i got a big question what if you are fat (not that i am but i am not verry skinny too) can you still join the army ??? ow yeah and i cant really pump and run like verry fast verry long i only had 77 procent in school for sport i am 14 years
@Elieeeeboy I tried signing up about 3 months ago, my bmi was 28 (im 17) and that was too high, they only accept up to 27 bmi for under 18's.
I went back a month ago after looking 8kg which got me to a bmi of 25 and they let me in.
You need to be able to run 1.5miles in around 11 minutes to impress, or 9 minutes for the parachute regiment, since you're 14 - you've got atleast 2 years to train so start doing jogs ,sprints and runs and lift weights to help out with upper body strength
senior service basic 1976 was not nice , no one chated to me or asked my opinion about anything . i was nothing to them at the start . enjoyed every second !!
@collieoVTEC well thats an intresting point why is it in all army recruitment adverts you are told god pay and conditions ??
The goverment who makes the adverts always makes a big thing of it
British army is paid very poorly and that is a fact a lot of young men join the army because there is nothing else I live in the NE of England our army regiments are full of nothen lads and girls
Is it worth it I would think so if there is nothing else ????
@nylonTS Well anyone whose first choice is the army doesn't join for the money, some people haven't got the options due to lack of qualifications, experience or are just plain lazy! Those are the kind of people who have given the army the bad reputation for a last resort for bums. I see most people joining up mostly because its something they want to do, not as a last resort, short of benefits.
Haha, sucked in! I remember the army recruitment adverts in the early 80s when I joined - never saw a hang-glider or pair of waterskis once after I joined!!
Im not 100% sure. but i think its 17 and 4-5 months and up. then your be with everyone between: 17.4 - 34 (or what ever the oldest age to join is) Im not sure but my best quess is this.
Id say rifles is better, go through alot of shit with the guys you're with, get good mates id think. but with the RA there is like 15 odd jobs in that one job, so sumething might appeal to you. but id go for rifles if I wanted
@LiveHumanDieLegend can you tell me what rifles and artty has involved in them? id appreciate your help, thanks (i haven't done too much revision on the careers yet due to me having another op in a few months but when the time gets nearer i shall be doing a lot of research on the jobs im interested in)
@EnragedGoat haha well said, ive been wanting to join the army for a year now but i had a foot op and i now need another one to have the screws taken out, so it's not looking good, do you know how long i will have to wait before trying to sign up and if they will let me? my foot will be fine and 100% after my next op which is in 3months
@guitarist4747 No offense mate. But the British Army is much higher trained. It's not an opinion. Unfortunately it's fact. I have served with the Yanks. They are an amazing force. Not as highly trained but Tech wise and morale wise there is none better. Thats what makes us such good allies. But the truth is. You get a Yank and a Brit in a room. And they are gunna argue. Doesn't matter what about. That's just how it is. But the Majority of British respect you. Much respect from the UK!
@USARMYSOLDIER112 it's the other way round. In U.S. you just get screamed at by a bitch of a drill instructor, unlike the British army/royal marines you get taught self-responsibility and to confront the pressures of war. They toughen you up much more. Plus the basic training is much longer.
@USARMYSOLDIER112 lol usa army is simple send in 10000s of troops take massive losses and claim victory lol its sad look at ur history the reason u dont fight countrys like russia or china is they match ur numbers but also out skill u :)
@USARMYSOLDIER112 HA yeah right ya cunt. first off what is that crap sayin "uahh" about you bunch off fucking numptys? secondly, you couldnt even prevent 911, flight 93 etc. you are useless at eveything, FACT. you claim you won the world wars, when we had to bail you out. oh yeah and what are the numbers of service personnel from america and Britain (god rest their souls) killed in afghanistan in total? yeah, americans are nearly double cause we get the job done properly, useless mongrels, UAAH
Go fight abroad so Israel can remain safe and military contractors can reap undeserved fortunes, then come home to a decaying multiculti island where you are under surveillance and have little rights - wish I was from blighty!
the bottom line is many people are going to get seriously hurt and injured and they are not smart enough to realize that it is going to happen if they join up. only the lucky ones dont get injured who dont get send to afghanistan. anybody who wont admit people are stupid for doiung this are not intelligent and are only thinking of money and greed. The people who admire people who do this are really making it worse for many. why would anybody admire such acts
forget about the career oppurtunities for one moment and just think about the reality of getting injured in a full on war battle. THats what its all about these days. There just isn't anything to gain from this. I seriously would not do it. Thousands of people have suffered serious life changing injuries from joining the army. You can't even make a life in this enviroment. Make love and not war and fighting. Its just a mistake people make

@WiseEarthMan To be honest mate, most people these days are joining because they either want job security and to get away from the recession, I dont think the political side of things phases many people anymore. Its not really a case of ''im joining to serve my country'' but ''im joining to put food on the table for my wife and kids....''
addicted2guitar90 2 months ago 10
@addicted2guitar90 I hear you...shame its come to this..
WiseEarthMan 2 months ago
@addicted2guitar90 nice way to put it. Someone who actually doesn't bring a bunch of political nonsense to the conversation, but someone whom actually tells the dire truth. When I get out of high school i'm joining my countries navy not just for service for my country but to get the job training and skills and have a job right out of high school.
Scottishamerican1995 2 months ago
@Scottishamerican1995 I would recommend the armed forces to anyone, be it army, navy or air force. My problem was I joined straight out of school, didnt realise how good it actually was money wise, well-being etc. until I left and tried settling down the civvy way.
If I could have changed anything, I would have waited until I was about 18, given myself a couple of years to grow-up and find my feet in civvy-street. Then I would have known to settle with the army as a full-time 24 year career!
addicted2guitar90 2 months ago
@addicted2guitar90 Quick question, what benefits do you get in your armed forces? In America it seems pretty decent from where I look at, but I could be wrong. I was also thinking of rather being a machinist or being an seabee in the Navy because my grandfathers were in the navy one as a seabee in Vietnam and the other working Aviation, plus my father wants me to join the Navy if I choose the military.
Scottishamerican1995 2 months ago
@Scottishamerican1995 Political nonesense is what gets us in the s*it in the 1st place..As i,m writing the powers that be are pushing for war with Iran/Syria which will lead to Thermo Nuclear war with Russia and China..But hey,it doesn,t matter as long as it keeps the cannon fodder employed..Do people actually think anymore??

So tell me selimagev... who did you serve with, and for how long? or maybe a wannabe?
addicted2guitar90 2 months ago 14
@addicted2guitar90 Where did you do your training? What Cap Badge were you? We got our phones taken off us on day 3 week 1 and only got it back when I DAORd on week 5 day 2. I was badged to Grenadier Guards, obviously at ITC.

This may sound like a stupid question but in the army do you get to choose your weapon like picking a LMG over a standard rifle?
manum42n 3 months ago
@manum42n haha its not call of duty you know. no you dont, thats down to 2IC or section commanders, generally speaking though for a squad of 6-9 there would be 1x LSW gunner and 1x sniper, depending on the nature of the operation they might throw in a support gunner and less the sniper (GPMG/minime), the rest will have the L85A2 rifle with one or two blokes carrying a javelin or comms pack etc.
addicted2guitar90 3 months ago
@manum42n no

@manum42n no u cant just choose lol but if u wanted for example an LMG u would apply for that trade in the army and if u wanted a sniper u would apply for that trade ect

But im joining for different reasons , because jobs at my area and boring , what do you want to do stack shelves for the rest of your life? this is a real trade , do 4 years in the army and when you leave to find a job that you really want to do they will see how commited you are considering you were inarmy

tyroneuva1 3 months ago
@tyroneuva1 600 per month, Im guessing you failed to complete basic training then because that sounds like recruit pay? because even infanteers start off at 17,000 per year, which is about 1100 per month... either that or you joined decades ago? theres bullying wherever you go, and fitness is there for a reason, at the end of the day its like i said, it isnt all roses like these vids make out to be, but its not as bad as some people make it out either, best bloody time of my life the army was!
addicted2guitar90 3 months ago 9
@tyroneuva1 ... Right. 1. They bully the weak because they don't want idiots to be protecting their backs in war. 2. What you put about money is not true. I know for a fact that at Harrogate army college alone, they get paid about £900-£1,000 a month if you stick the first month or so. 3. RESPECT IS THE ESSENCE OF THE BRITISH ARMY. That's why there are ranks for Christ sake! If you don't deserve a rank, you don't deserve respect. Now I've ran out of space. Otherwise I'd have continued this rant.

Seems to be a must sophisticated way of training. Same results just more intelligent training.

They had to have editted the tough parts out. I suppose they didn't show the part of crawling all day long in the mud, doing a bunch of press-ups then told you weren't doing the press-ups properly and start all over again. It can't be that easy.

im about 1 stone and a half over weight and im 15 will i be able to join the army if im still over weight some one plz reply
Zerggx666 4 months ago
@Zerggx666 Lose weight, its only 1.5 stone, if you cant lose that, then your not working hard enough physically, therefore unfit for service, and you will be hanging out of your arse in basic training even if you got through the loophole. You don't want to be the guy lagging behind on tab's and runs, because you will very quickly become disliked by the rest of the platoon for being a mong,
Hope thats enough motivation for you ;)

calumc604 4 months ago
@calumc604 oh must be medical then
traceradam 4 months ago
@traceradam well it is due to medical reasons if thats what you mean but when your on fitness days with other recruits hoping to join and you come 1st in the press up test 1st in the sit up test complete the jerry can lift to the max allowed and come 3rd in a 2 mile run they didnt actually have a good reason for me to be deferred they were just being weird with me
calumc604 4 months ago
@calumc604 why how many push up do you have to do? i have a British army training manual as a pdf on my pc but i dont how old it is do you want it?
traceradam 4 months ago
@traceradam something like 50-45 and same with situps in 2 mins but you can rest inbetween but i done 96 push ups and 94 situps in the 2 mins no-one got close and nah im getting my 3 month fitness thing in about 2 weeks because i got deferred so i have to do that for 3 months but selection is really easy if you aint unfit and you are confident you will get a pass and if you are really fit and confident youll get an A what job isit you want to do??
calumc604 4 months ago
@traceradam 60 pressups, 60 situps in 2 minutes. You will do this in pairs, going down to your partners fist and back up. Its different for females, something like 45... As for run times, 9:30 or less is a good point to be at, 10:30 or less will probably get you past selection, any more q's about selection, basic training, or unit stuff just inbox me and if I have time I will help.

traceradam 4 months ago
@traceradam I am not condoning this in any way to any potential recruits... however to keep you confident. I never done PE in school, always had an excuse. I used to run 500 metres and id have lung burn. I smoked 30 a day (still do) and was an alcoholic (didnt tell the army obviously). I had 3 months til basic and stopped training. I got drunk 5 days a week, and went to phase 1 day 1 with a hang over.... I passed out as a soldier......
do not worry about the physical. its all in the head mate!
addicted2guitar90 4 months ago
@addicted2guitar90 but I did make it 20 times harder for myself haha so do keep on training, but if you cant do 60/60 now, i guarantee at the end of basic, you will go home smashing out 100 pressups per 5 minutes!

Paul999799 4 months ago
@Paul999799 no they aren't, you do the military swim tests as part of MATTS training for the army, however, it isnt compulsory that you pass, but if you don't, you will be limited in your career... especially if your unit has a whitewater rafting week or something, you won't be allowed to go for insurance reasons. Only in the marines its compulsory...for obvious reasons.
addicted2guitar90 4 months ago
@addicted2guitar90 Thanks. Do the Royal Military Police have to do them as part of the phase 2 training or, for example, as part of pre-deployment training?

@mrhumperdoodle You don't know what you're talking about. I'm British but have lived in Canada for over half my life. I served with the British Army in the 1980's including a two year tour of N. There is no tougher training than in the British Forces, Parachute Regiment and Royal Marines are a case in point.

calumc604 4 months ago
For all your information: If you are planning on joining, I would take the video with a grain of salt. It is kind of mollycoddling with the whole compassionate/inspirational leadership, not shouting etc. truth be told, it is NOT easy, and if you feel you need compassion, then dont bother joining, you will make it harder for yourself in the long run, when it gets really tough and you find your bound to it for 4.5 years minimum. On another note, the army is brilliant! the hard work pays off
addicted2guitar90 6 months ago 2
@addicted2guitar90 couldnt of put it better mate, people too often think that when they get to training it is going to be like selection or other look at life courses they have been on.

If I'm left handed does that mean I would have to learn how to fire a weapon right handed in the Army? I've always been a good shot with a .222 bolt rifle, I live in the countryside and I use it hunting every day but still don't know if i could use an SA80 left handed, I've heard that the breach on a standard SA80 can be changed to suit a left handed shooter, I know some weapons can be used left handed but i've been told i might have to shoot right handed, can someone help me on this, thanks.
enjoi368 6 months ago
@enjoi368 Yes you will be taught to fire right-handed only. This is just incase you need to pick up somebody elses rifle and use it. Once in the field army, and on operational deployments, some units allow for rifles to be configured, be it left/right handed, or changing the sights/grips etc. by the way, there was a lefty in my old training platoon, and he said it wasnt too bad after he got used to it, just he was shit when in the standing position. Glenn.

if you are thinking of joining then you might want to look into bionics. don't even think about it. i saw this one guy one the train in london who had a help for heroes arm band and had lost his legs and had metal plates on his limbs to walk on and all he had was an old wheelchair with a very worn out cusion. they won't offer you any help if you get injured they will just tell you to clear off basically
210482fmj 7 months ago
@210482fmj Hi, I know It's very sad, but there are charity's that are helping people like this soldier you saw on the train. And of course it's getting less and less likely to be injured or killed. Are you planing to join the army?
acetoxicCOD 7 months ago
@acetoxicCOD not anymore. The level of injuries i have seen has had quite a disturbing effect on me. What i find more disturbing now is our government is sending more people into battles. This whole thing is going sour. war is only meant as a last resort like when the nazis were invading uk but we are just sending people into harms way for no real reason and are just creating problems. i still am worried about how short a time ww2 happened. it doesn't look good 4 the future
210482fmj 7 months ago
@210482fmj I am not trying to say I'm right or your wrong but, NATO are there to stop Islamic terrorism spreading to Europe and America, there trying to stop 7/7 and 9/11 happening. There protecting you and me from horrible things. WW3 would start if we weren't there, not if we are. I am, as I said, NOT trying to say your wrong, I'm just saying my opinion. My opinion and yours are exactly equal. :)
acetoxicCOD 7 months ago
@acetoxicCOD yeah sure fair enough. I still don't think that sending people into danger is good though. we need to come up with a better plan
210482fmj 7 months ago
@210482fmj It's hard to though, the Taliban (being in there own country) have the upper hand. We can't bomb all of Afghanistan and Pakistan because we would kill so many civilians. We are not doing all of it though. All of NATO and the U.N are there to help the A.P and the A.N.P to there feet. Until then It's are duties to stay there.

Is it worth it I would think so if there is nothing else ????
nylonTS 8 months ago
@nylonTS Well anyone whose first choice is the army doesn't join for the money, some people haven't got the options due to lack of qualifications, experience or are just plain lazy! Those are the kind of people who have given the army the bad reputation for a last resort for bums. I see most people joining up mostly because its something they want to do, not as a last resort, short of benefits.

Much respect from the UK!

sounds like summer camp lol U.S Army lead the way
USARMYSOLDIER112 9 months ago
