I agree with whole heartily with your dislike of time limit game play, and real time battles, but Half Minute Hero is nothing like that. Its a puzzle game at its heart, with an old school RPG coating. Its hard to describe, and really is something you'd have to play to see its charm.

I finished Hero, Evil lord and Princess in one day. I finished Knight in half a day.

This game is so addicting I am up to Hero 300 now, its really entertaining :D

I wish they had more then 30 levels because the game seems short otherwise.

The one thing that bothers me about the review is how they keep saying it's 8-bit graphics. With the level of detail in the sprites and backgrounds, to me anyway, it's looking more 16-bit which would put it up with the Super Nintendo titles rather than the NES' limited capabilities. JUST SAYIN'. But yeah, great game, although any mode other than the Hero modes can be beaten in one sitting.

Has to be seen to be believed. A total tongue in cheek tribute to the WTF factor which is my opinion is what makes JRPGs so enjoyable. The only thing it lacks is total over the top voice acting. Its cheap as hell as well since noone seems to have bought into the absurdist flavour this side of the Pacific. If you've got a sense of humour you need to check it out.

Everyone: believe me, this game is really worth your time if you love JRPGs! It's definitively not a RPG in that matter, but just what I've always needed: awesomeness condensed into 30 seconds! Jeanne D'arc is a GOOD game. But if you haven't played Disgaea, FFT:War of the Lions I would recommend those first! Buy it used so you can get a good deal or atleast be able to return it if you don't like it. But in my opinion, JD comes in 3rd place compared to the other titles I named.
