I'll bite ...
Simply because the bullet, besides going forward really fast, would be going down at 9m/s^2, if you recall your physics.
Save for aerodynamic lift, if you shot a bullet straight forward and drop another from your fingers to the ground, both at the same time, they both hit the ground at exactly the same time.
