Somethings will always remain a classic. The original V miniseries hands down was a masterpiece in all aspects. The remake tried, but failed pitifully. The ships, the costumes, the plot and acting were all top notch. I loved the "nazi allegory" used as the foundation for the Visitors. The reboot deviated from this idea & it was their fatal mistake. 30 yrs later, "V" is still respected & loved by it's fans.

First, someone asked why an advanced race would use trucks...why not? They "ground vehicles", plus..."when on Earth, do as the humans do to remain low-key". Steven was so proud of his "security measures", but the failure of the attack was mainly due to the fact that the ammunition the rebels were using couldn't penetrate the visitors' body armor or helmets. So it was basically a lost cause from the moment the attack began. Only Donovan's laser gun had any effect. Later, the resistance gets special new ammo that can cut through the body armor and kill the visitors.

Of course Steven covers his tracks by joining Pamela in blaming the whole thing on Diana. Though from what I saw he was the one making all the military decisions.

Watching the entire V mini-series and TV show you'll notice that the majority of the visitors have terrible aim, poor fighting skills, and are not very experienced in combat techniques. For instance they'll take cover behind empty cardboard boxes that offer no protection! They also have very poor reaction time! During a rebel attack you'll often see V guards getting machine gunned who are still standing completely still at their posts and don't even have their weapons drawn yet.

For those who don't know, the visitors with the all-black helmets and black leather vests are the shock troopers. The visitors with the gold helmets and black masks are visitor security guards. The guards are mostly used for maintaining security, while the troopers are used both for security and for going into combat. That's the official story! In reality, the show could no longer afford the trooper outfits, so they had to go for a cheaper uniform with the less expensive helmet.
V was an allegory for the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and for communist infiltration in the western world. There are also arguments for Facism in Nazi Germany (although somewhat late in the day) and for the Pinochet regime in Chile.

No you're not. The 2006 census sets blacks as 7.4%. You're counting "pardos" as blacks, but they are mostly what Americans call "mestizos". The dark skin comes from the native Americans, not blacks.

Brazilians consider themselves Latin Americans, because Portugal is just as Latin as Spain is.
Pardo is not synonymous with Mulatto, since Pardo includes Caboclo (white and indian). Pardo is used only in official documents. In real life Brazilians will consider "moreno" - "dark" anyone who has a darker skin, including blacks. As a rule of thumb, if your hair is straight but you are dark, you are moreno but not black. If it's kinky, you are moreno and black.
These boundaries are very fluid in Brazil Even though someone like Pele will be clearly identified as black, there are lots of intermediate cases in which people will sometimes even lack a term to describe. Then they will mostly qualify the color. Some people are "lighter" (than average, perhaps), some people are "darker". It works sort of like Jews in Europe in the 19th century. I'm a "darker" white here, but many people would refuse the qualification for me and refer to me as just white.

Somethings will always remain a classic. The original V miniseries hands down was a masterpiece in all aspects. The remake tried, but failed pitifully. The ships, the costumes, the plot and acting were all top notch. I loved the "nazi allegory" used as the foundation for the Visitors. The reboot deviated from this idea & it was their fatal mistake. 30 yrs later, "V" is still respected & loved by it's fans.

LOL. Steven was so proud of his "security measures", but the failure of the attack was mainly due to the fact that the ammunition the rebels were using couldn't penetrate the visitors' body armor or helmets. So it was basically a lost cause from the moment the attack began. Only Donovan's laser gun had any effect. Later, the resistance gets special new ammo that can cut through the body armor and kill the visitors.

Watching the entire V mini-series and TV show you'll notice that the majority of the visitors have terrible aim, poor fighting skills, and are not very experienced in combat techniques. For instance they'll take cover behind empty cardboard boxes that offer no protection! They also have very poor reaction time! During a rebel attack you'll often see V guards getting machine gunned who are still standing completely still at their posts and don't even have their weapons drawn yet.

For those who don't know, the visitors with the all-black helmets and black leather vests are the shock troopers. The visitors with the gold helmets and black masks are visitor security guards. The guards are mostly used for maintaining security, while the troopers are used both for security and for going into combat. That's the official story! What made Martin Luther King Jr. great is that even though he was Black everybody could relate to that message of equality..who doesn't want to live in a world where everybody is equal?! No you're not. The 2006 census sets blacks as 7.4%. You're counting "pardos" as blacks, but they are mostly what Americans call "mestizos". The dark skin comes from the native Americans, not blacks.

Brazilians consider themselves Latin Americans, because Portugal is just as Latin as Spain is.
Pardo is not synonymous with Mulatto, since Pardo includes Caboclo (white and indian). Pardo is used only in official documents. In real life Brazilians will consider "moreno" - "dark" anyone who has a darker skin, including blacks. As a rule of thumb, if your hair is straight but you are dark, you are moreno but not black. If it's kinky, you are moreno and black.

These boundaries are very fluid in Brazil Even though someone like Pele will be clearly identified as black, there are lots of intermediate cases in which people will sometimes even lack a term to describe. Then they will mostly qualify the color. Some people are "lighter" (than average, perhaps), some people are "darker". It works sort of like Jews in Europe in the 19th century. I'm a "darker" white here, but many people would refuse the qualification for me and refer to me as just white.

Well, they got their "cooperation". Mike Donovan noted one night that the military was "under house arrest" seeing some being searched and help in restraint. The government seemed to allow this to get technology or whatever and soon it was too late to fight back.
