  • This song brings back such awesome memories when it came out in the fall of '78. I was entering my senior year in college and the greatest class of freshman coeds descended onto my college campus. Looking back that school year was the greatest year of my life. Every campus dorm party at some point played this song and it was so sweet to slow-dance with a great looking college girl!! Such awesome memories!!

  • I just met David a few days ago at NAMM 2012 in Anaheim, where he put on an impromptu acoustic set for a small audience. I already knew he was a great singer, but it was his guitar work that really caught me off guard. There's a good reason he's a Grammy winner. He's one of the best musical talents in the world.

  • Still has a great voice. Sounds a little sharp at times but it seems to be when he's trying to hit the high notes. I have always loved this song. Thanks for posting.

  • Creative differences

  • Still got it!

  • Are the kids out there paying attention.... ok THIS IS TALENT!!! see the difference?

  • Wow! Over 30 years later! Another feel good song from the 70's - what a great time that was.

  • I love this song so much. When I am very lonely and depressed, I come here and listen to David Pack sing, then I feel better.

  • He's still beautiful to look at. And his voice is even better.

  • TRUE DAVID STILL HAS IT, HE SOUNDS GREAT!!!

  • good to see he still got it!

  • David truly is one of my top 3 vocalists of all time. I wish there was more of there progressive music live on you tube.....and he also happens to be a phenomenal guitarist.

  • Wow he looks better as he aged..and still can melt me in half when I hear this song..

  • I agree, still awesome.

  • yes very awesome still to this day

  • Simply wonderful. I don't have the words to express my happiness. Thank you. Thank you so much David.

  • TO THE 5 DISLIKES YOU DONT KNOW REAL MUSIC!!!

  • What a voice !!!!!!!!

  • Me too. I've been trying to find old '70's video footage of live performances of Ambrosia on perhaps DVD, but there is literally nothing out there at all. Wonder why, it's really strange.

  • Oh wow!! Can't believe how great he still sounds...gives me chills. This is the greatest ballad from the 70's. Does anyone know where I can find a live performance vid of this from the 70's? I keep looking, but all I find is one from the Midnight Special which says it's a live performance but it's clearly not. Then there's another one from some other show and that's not live either. I bought a CD called "Lite FM" from the 70's and never get tired of this beautiful song or David's voice.

  • David your still sounding great. I got to admit I miss your curls ha ha. You should get the old band together for a reunion tour ! I would buy a ticket

  • Wow! Thank you for this...and thank you youtube!

  • OMG, still got those beautiful pipes...LOVED IT!

  • I have listened to Ambrosia since I was a little girl and to this day, it is my lifelong dream to have David Pack sing to me with that amazingly sexy voice. I fell in love with his voice the moment I heard it and he is by far one of the most wonderful singers ever put on the face of this earth! That's not including his incredible talent as a musician and if I've read correctly, producer.

  • @denadear I feel as you do. Quite incredible he is....and yes a producer too...and music director...etc.

  • OMG, he is still so awesome sounding! I recently discovered him, though heard those Ambrosia songs all the time as a young teen and loved them. He is still so handsome and good looking too! WOW!!

  • wow great voice

  • Wow, how many of todays so-called artists can actually go on stage and perform like this and then do it 30 years later just as well ?????????

  • @800rotax1 EXACTLY..

  • @800rotax1 Even some of his contemporaries cant do it. He sounds amaaazing :)

  • 4 dislikes???

  • @bassmanjoe maybe youngsters,, got hurt coz david sings way way better than their justin bieber hahaha.

  • Ha! Pack packed it on, just like the rest of us! Still has that signature golden throat. What an iconic sound. This was always one of my very favorite songs of all time. Great post - thanks! ~Jon

  • I will always love this, but...

who the hell is that at 2:45?!? It looks like my Aunt Karen in '78!

  • @gkeyzer That's Jim Peterik who was the main force behind Survivor, and for you old folks like me, the singer of "Vehicle" by Ides of March.

    Great writer and player.

He really does need to get a new stylist though LOL he looks like Howard Stern.

  • Big Fan since 1978 til now. watching videos of then and, now inspires me to pick my guitar, and key board Up, and start singing again. David Pack is Blessed with many Talents. Stay in good health, and Take Good care of that Golden voice! Love the Orignal Ambrosia # 1 Fan

  • 31 years later...WOW...phenominal...!

  • I wish the audio was alittle better but I am grateful you posted. He is so underrated and his voice is one of the best out there. His cd from a few years ago was amazing.

Great song, great band, great singer.

  • @pattykad Totally AGREE!!! =)

  • DAVID PACK IS STILL THE BOMB! I know things change after 32 years (age, portliness, etc.) but you still have the pipes baby!

You are awesome David....and let's have an Ambrosia reunion shall we?

  • WHICH CHORDS ARE THEY?????

  • The most beautiful song ever written.

  • la mejor musica por siempre

  • 100% agreed jrichman. unreal lyrics in this song

  • I'll bet this was way better live?

  • such a gem

  • Dude has kept his voice and ear in shape. Respect.

And he plays nice guitar. Good to see guys keep it together as the years roll by. Hate to sound like an old self-righteous fart, but the Pop has devolved as many have said, rightly.. Period. All the production in the world is no substitute for melody, lyrics, nice chord changes, harmonies, etc.

  • @pyannaguy Good comment dude!

  • one of the best of David Pack. What can is say but he really does it right

  • Looks as if David has ' Packed" on more than a few lbs. but still love this classic. Hit it Dave!

  • @FastPonyGT - totally cheap shot, but consider the source I guess

  • @steve51704000 I guess not but I'll consider a cheap shot to your gonads, if you have any. As a matter of fact, consider it done.

  • love it....awesome!!!!!!!!!....

  • I knew David Pack through Steve Perry cause they have a song together for one of David's latest album (if not the last one so far)... and I just fell in love with his music. What a wonderful musician!

  • Damn... this is a great vid. Thanks!

  • I always heard this song throughout the years but I was too young to understand about love. One early morning I was shopping in a supermarket and this song came on, and for some reason I still did not pay attention only to the melody but towards the end I could not believe what I heard."Sometimes when we make love I can still see your face". It blew my mind that someone had the guts to write and express how strongly he loved a person. I could not stop wanting to listen to the song

  • @msjewelblue Yeah, I loved this song when I first heard it when it came out, when I was 21... Now, at 52, I can appreciate the song's whole story-arc. The first 2 verses he's a just young guy, trying to hang onto his girlfriend, defensive and begging for forgiveness, But that 3rd verse... he's moved on, married to someone else... but oooh, that ole "persistence of memory". I know about that, at my age. I can appreciate the saying "you don't know what you've got till it's gone". Hold onto her!

  • @leftystrat76 you are right, you let true love go and you'll never forget it nor forgive yourself. Time flies but doesn't heal all wounds...I still dream of my Devon after 20 years.

    You're soooo right.

  • Sing it David!!

  • This is the most romantic and touching love song ever written and so true

  • I SAW AMBROSIA BACK IN THE DAY.....WOW....UP CLOSE AND WHEN THEY WERE JUST STARTING TO ROLE.

  • @1961Tuber Lucky u I saw them in 1997 and they were great too bad David left

  • i have always loved Ambrosia and have heard a lot of versions of this but David Pack gives justice 2 d song..I loved the way he sang it, awesome great voice

  • This is and will always be my most favorite song in the world. I love Ambrosia and David Pack has the most awesome voice I've ever heard.

  • This is music..talent..incredible voice..thank you for sharing :)

  • A great song sung by an even greater singer. Still going strong all these many years later. Where did all those years go and so fast.

  • I Love this song.. one of my all time fave's... i'm getting chills he is still so good. thanx for the post...

  • I love this song-- thanks so much for posting!

  • awesome!!!!.....real music and singing.....

  • 70's Soft rock was way better than Disco. I have always loved this song but this is the best version of it ever

  • Remember this song like it was yesterday. The music was so soulful then. So empty now.

  • One of the most underrated voices of all time! Man I miss this music!

  • wow...love it...real music and singing....awesome!!!.....where is real music like this today?????????????......nothing like the real thing.......

  • Has David Pack ever done anything with Michael McDonald ? These two should collaborate on some songs together, instant hits !

  • David Pack has a remarkable voice - every bit as good today as it was 30 years ago.

  • guild is in the house

  • cool!

  • Paich not Pack

  • @drummerfromoly Paich is from Toto, Pack is from Ambrosia.

  • Wow. It's rare to an artist, 30 years later, pull off a song as well as it's original release. That was AWESOME!!!

  • One of my Top 5 ballads of all time!! Absolutely one of the most bless-ed combination's of Transposed emotion, vocal coloring - and the harmonious marriage of lyrics to melody. God has blessed David Pack with the instrument to set this song into our hearts and minds. Amazing performance!

  • Still so good. One of my favorite songs forever.

  • I love this song - always have - always will

  • very nice!!!!

  • I grew up loving this song, the guy still got it.

  • he still got it ya

  • Hell baby he's still got love it ......

  • @hpygolkyone Leave him alone. This guy is awesome...and his hair isn't so bad. I bet it's soft and smells goooooooooood..!

  • He sounds about the same as he did in Ambrosia's heyday.

  • Aaahh, excellent! .... any performances coming up?

  • amazing...one of my all time favorites...an all time great!

  • HE'S STILL GOT IT 20+ years later!

  • FYI.....the lisp was caused by him going almost completely deaf. Ourstanding performance for a man who can't hear!

  • @theoldparrothead - is that really true? is he deaf now??? I searched online but couldnt find any info about it.

  • @SquishDish i heard the same thing but i think in one ear only

  • Beware ......it happens to all of us.

  • great song for a lost love

  • Fantastic lyrics and soul to the song. This is when talent meant something more than having the right computer program.

  • I agree Mr SuperMoran no one tops the 70's bands

  • Yea..... fabulous ;)

  • he sounds so much younger than he looks - great song

  • I still can't hear this song without shivers running through my body.

  • Bravo Warm and fuzzt central here. Love it

I was lucky to have been a teen in the 70's

  • coño de lo mejor fantastic!!!

  • He's still got it and still looks great! I LOVE this song...

  • I have always loved Ambrosia. Wow does david Pack still have it or what. What are we gonna do when these guys are gone. The 70's groups were the best..bar none!!

  • He sounds amazing.

    So very well said!

  • @MrSuperMoran You my good sir have an equisite taste for good muzik! my friends laugh at me and "say u stuk on the sweet sound from 70'z" i tell em you dont kno what you missing, Ambrosia has Jazz, rock, soul, r&b and blues all wrapped into 1!!!! and yes PACK still has it goin on!!!! LMAO

Maybe Rock the Park here in London Ont ;)

Thanks for posting this great video

    mccrakkin!!

  • One of the best singer ever. Please visit Sweden:)

  • He is one of the best, no doubt. Also, very good man with a strong faith.

  • Oh my Gosh...this guy has a great range, and I like how he sounds so much like he used to . So many artists tend to get so "showy" when they get older, with their old hits. Classy. Good job!

  • One of the few artists who can sing better

now than when they were in their 20's.

He is now in his late 50's. He is one of

the best in the biz for sure!!! Young singers today should listen and learn from an artist like him!!

  • Sung very close to the recording....sign of an Artist who realizes and knows that most of his audience would like to hear the song as its was recorded....nice

  • tragedy is there seems to be no live video of anything other than them doing their pop hits - the entirety of their first release, plus Somewhere I Never Traveled were amazing live - I saw SINT at the Santa Monica Civic, and the next 2 tours afterwards - one at the Cal Poly SLO gym! awesome

  • Pack still sounds great, I agree w/ all the positive comments, Ambrosia very underrated 4 their lyrics and classic sound......thx 4 the post....

  • Russ

This was a big hit down under(New Zealand).

Amazed how the voice and performance is still there after all these years. David should come down this way with Ambrosia.

  • I agree with JRich guy...There is no better 3rd verse in pop history. Get's me everytime. This guy is the total real deal!

  • Fantastic!! He has such soulfulness in his voice, even after all these years...his voice just got better and better as this clip progressed! And the extended ending was a nice addition to the original song as well and very tightly performed...Great!!

  • Still good....

  • Still good???? Still amazing, they don't

    make guys like this anymore!!!!

  • yah, still very, very good; gives me goose bumps everytime.......

  • Is there a more brilliant and emotional verse than the last one, in pop music history? "sometimes when we make love, i still see your face".....

  • @jrichman21 i can't believe someone made this statement. This is the part that totally blew my mind and so made this song profound. I always listen to this song and wait to hear this part and each time tears just come out...........................thanks for saying this

  • @msjewelblue Yeah I know :) This song has always meant a lot to me too!

  • @jrichman21 thanks so much for your reply you have great taste in music and passion for profound lyrics that is from the heart
