  • I wonder what the king did when he had to go to the bathroom?

  • I remember this from Learning About Letters!

  • 3:29 was anybody else expecting him to say "And all of this made King Peter *p*issed" then remembered it was Sesame Street?

  • "Also, 'penis' starts with 'p', so you know what that means."

    *Holds up big knife*

  • hey, this isnt a youtube poop :(

  • A peanut butter and pickle pizza! Ugh! Grotie!

  • What is the name of the muppet boy with Telly and Luis?

  • Peter is a parsimonius pinhead!

  • Were those blocks the servants were carrying what used to be the palace?

  • How did they pull apart the palace?

  • I remember loving this as a kid!

*looks at first letter of user name*

    Uh-oh...

  • @piguy314159

Another great sense of You Tube humor!

  • Didn't this one once have Maria narrating the story, then hers got replaced with Luis?

  • I thought I remembered the poppies and petunias getting banished as well.

  • I forgot that Penelope was banished for being a Princess.

  • The king should've said "castle"at 3:17 instead of "palace."

  • The chef was banished for being Parisian.

  • One inconsistency in this sketch: If they could banish Penelope, couldn't King Peter himself be banished because of his name?

  • During the proclamation (the first one), where the letter P is banished, you can see a falic symbol in one of the clouds- uh oh, subliminal message!!!

  • Last night I saw the movie "The Tale of Despereaux" and the king there does something similar. He banishes rats, which, like the letter P, are a natural part of life. As the narrator said, "you might as well banish flies, sweat, or Monday morning".

Has anyone got the original version of this?

  • wait...good thing he didn't pull out his weiner....coz they'd have cut off his penis!

  • @sirzuke

That sounds like a pretty scary thought to me! You posters are really a riot!

  • Right! I remember the original too! After the King said that,Luis shuddered like,"HUH?"!

  • MMMHHHMMHHHMMM hew you aaaaww you favowite dinnayr MMMHHHMMMHHHMM peanut butta and pickle pizzaaaa!!!!

    LOL

  • I haven't seen this one since I was a toddler - very young child. It was among those skits in the LEARNING LETTERS Sesame Street vhs. King Peter's men must have been way beyond literal to banish P words from his kingdom.

Oh and LOL XD the Peanut Butter Pickle Pizza Chef!

  • Pingas

  • I agree this is not the original version of this skit. Well the Muppet part is but the original has Luis sitting in front of the decorated wall. But, to be honest, I think Luis is rather stern in the first one. Here he's much more loose and at ease reading the story, which is what's imperative when it comes to reading to young children.

  • OK, I just torchered myself. I really had to go to the bathroom and the guy just said "This is the letter P. It sounds like puh....p. P. Peanut. Pony. Pumpkin. Listen for words that begin with the letter P." I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!! MUST....PEE!

  • COOL STORY BRO

  • @ZEROEVILDARKCOOL Say nothing of the P's and the Pumpkins and the Potatoes!

  • the princess looks like either prarie dawn or betty lou!

  • Did the owner of the ping-pong ball say "Pardon me, your purpleness"?

  • Quite probably

  • @simplecoffee He said Pardon me your Powerfulness!

  • he been pelted by a ping pong ball...LOL

  • You better watch out what you wish for.

  • Or else people will take your wishes literally, just like the king's men.

  • If there was the original version of this

story with the white background where

Bob, Maria, Luis, and even Grover who

tried & failed, told stories like this one,

is the original intro and ending still intact

from the 70's version? Luis' hair was a

little greasy, then, but I remember it well.

Also, is "The King's Royal Picnic" here?

I digged the snappy ending of that one.

  • Well...people begin with letter P, so the people got-to-go too!!!!

  • This is my favorite segment of Sesame Street.

  • At least he changed his mind before he could poop too! He would have been consierpated all his life!

  • Ooo my pet porcipine! Looks more like a hedgehog to me.

  • That pen is actually a quill, so it can stay.

  • I always thought big bird looked gentle but would peck your spine out if it was hungry.

  • PIDDLE!!! Ive been pelted by a ping pong ball!!! lol

  • Oooo, MY PET PORCIPINE!

    Thanks for posting this! XD

  • I always liked the part where they started to tear down the castle!

  • Haha, you could see it on his face that he wanted to say Penis! xD

He even starts smiling when he thinks of it :D

  • What's your Problem? are you Parinoied?

  • there's another P pppParanoid, well done !

  • Well thank you.

  • I remember this one. Does anyone know if that other character had a name? With Luis you had Big Bird, Telly, and Fred the horse. Was probably just an anything muppet.Interesting combination of characters they had on that one.

  • No. Remember, the king (named Peter, by the way)repealed his proclamation. Therefore, it is no longer in force.

  • What did that guy say at 1:38? "Pardon me, your..." what?

  • I think he said "Pardon me your powerfulness"

  • 4:09 was priceless.

  • You mean riceless.

  • speaking of P...does anyone have the "P" picnic cartoon with pot roast, pumpkin and peach pie?

  • Mstatz posted that one.

  • How about the Sesame Street News Flash where Kermit interviews Porter, Potter, Piper, Poppa, Pepper, Porker, and Parker Piper at Peter Piper's Pickled Pepper Patch?

  • @Devaishwarya

That one is on the Old School Volume 2 DVD set.

  • And thus, the kingdom was susceptible to pox, poverty, pestilence and plague.

  • But, on the positive side, it was prone to pleasure, prosperity, and paradise.

  • ...and peace.

  • A Perfect Paradox.

  • They should have banished King Peter.

  • I wondered how soon it would be before they told the king he had to go!

  • At least the king stopped him before they bannished his pants... eek!

  • He would not be able to P in his pants..

  • And he would not be pissed-off. I remember you. So good to see you again

  • You, too!.. Once again the letter p has brought us together.

  • That wasn't a ping-pong ball! Cookie Monster's eye came loose on the set next door.

  • Oh Who cares about that big ol baby telly? He is nothing but a baby that complains alot. So i am guessing it is someone who does the same thing!

  • By the way, does anyone wonder how old this was? I'm kind of wondering who played Telly here because he didn't say anything? I think I can judge by the design that it's Marty's Telly, but I'm just guessing. Just thought I'd ask about that.

  • Well, it's past Luis's unfortunate early 70s mullet phase, anyway!

  • Actually since the proclamation did start with "P", the whole thing should be null and void. Rather unproductive!

Hehehe, I liked when the poor Princess was banished.

  • If the proclamation were null and void, that would mean that everything starting with P should be allowed in the kingdom, including the proclamation, which would therefore banish everything starting with P, including the proclamation, and that would cancel the proclamation, on and on and on... What a perplexing paradox!

  • Lol, very true!

Lol, the princess is so funny, yay Frank Oz!

    Btw "Persnickety: overparticular; fussy"

  • Why do you think he called it a "royal change of mind"?

  • Carrying that proclamation to its logical extreme, poor Peter would either have to abdicate or rename every banned thing...including himself.
