the step: work for me,

open data>mugen(cfg file)(open with note pad)>push edit tab on the note pad>click find>key in (win video)>change resolution: say Width = 640 height = 480>scroll below see parameter>Stretch = 0,change to 1>scroll down or use find to search the word: DXmode = windowed, change it to Hardware>save.

read the MUGEN cfg file carefully, it will tell you how to setting it. KUDOS TO THE MUGEN GAME TEAM.

I don't know if this will work for you guys but it worked for me.

I set the width and height to 640 x 480

and stretch to 1

I set the DXmode on software

and it gave meh a full screen 8D

I know this is a late response, but I had the same problem. After reading through the file I noticed near the top of the "VideoWin" section, There is an area that says "width=" and "height=" I changed the values to fit the size of my screen. Hope that works for you!

Now, though, I downloaded MUGEN again (maybe it's a new version), I came back here to watch the tutorial, I'm doing the same, and I get this error message upon opening winmugen:

To fix the problem, go to mugen config thingy, go to vid win, look height and width, enter width 640, enter height 480. save. then try it out. Enjoy

to get rid of the black outline u have to go mugen config, look for vid win, look for set this parameter blah blah screen streching, go below that paragraph, stretch will be zero, change to one. save. and try it out.

Keep your directx mode to software or hardware, you computer is probraply an hp computer, so change your length to 640, and your width to 480, and change your stretch to 1. I hope this is helpful enough.

Hold Ctrl and keep pressing the D button until it disappears. And if you want it back just repeat the same process again. I believe the words represent Debug Mode. Hope it helps.

you go to the data file and delete system.def file yes i know it's crazy but do it!!, anyway once done go into file that says "big" there u see a system.def file you copy that then you go back and paste it in where your other system used to be and there ya go 60 slots for characters
