  • her tumbels were awful. Had she done a desent floor rountine with a higher difficulty value and not make such form breaks on her tumbles (open legs on full twisting doubly pike, cross legs on twists) she may have medaled.

  • her landing is fantastic

  • She is a fantastic gymnast. Her jumps have tons of amplitude, she sells her routine, and her dance is always energetic.

  • Semenova is a good gymnasts. She deserved her 4th place. She had a noticeable vault error and her tumbles on floor were LOW and she had helicopter feet. Her bars was good but not up to Yang's execution & standards. The only place where Semenova rightfully edged Yang in was beam. I find it disrespectful that fans who can comprehend Semenova's flaws still thinks she should have won a bronze. To new fans and non gymnasts watch more gymnastics and read the 2008 code of points (rules).

  • @AgymnasticFAN I think people just have opinions. YOU HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THIS FLOOR ROUTINE WAS CUTE AND NOT THAT BAD. Semenova really is a wonderful gymnasts.

  • @abctooeasy Yes you're right.

  • Still hard to believe that she didn't win over yilin.

  • The only reason why Yang Yilin won bronze is because of her high score on bars. Honestly her Beam and Floor wasn't very good and Semenova was brilliant on all 4 events that day so my opinion is Yilin should of taken 4th and Semenova should of won the bronze medal.

  • Thee best. Her floor routines are SO much more entertaining then anyone else. She rules the artistry side of artistic gymnist. To bad it's not embraced more/ scored better

  • One of, if not the best dancer at these games.

  • i wish she got a medal shes really good

  • @Natalie9911 Yes, she really deserved it!

  • @MrsShazziePepper1996 She actually does not. She is lovely, she is one of my favorite but she has too many form breaks :/

  • I love the movements the Russians make before they go into their start pose! And I also love them because they still know what artisty means.

  • cutest thing i've ever seen! so sad she got 4th :(

  • @wwDevichan Oh Nemov, what an amazing gymnast....

  • I love this performance and I am tired of the judging. It should be common sense if a gymnast performs a harder move than most and how well they perform that move. I just feel that the judging doesn't take into account how the gymnastics sells the performance with dance and using their soul to do a wonderful floor routine.

  • @wwDevichan Its hard to when the judging rules and codes of points have changed for that very reason of the Russians dominating...and like you said everyone has left for greener pastures when it comes to coaching gymnastics. It's really sad that they cannot find a new way to promote more artistry in gymnastics otherwise just watch men's gymnastics they are about to be the same thing.

  • I really enjoy her performance every time I watch......

  • @rainbowhug27 they should factor the enjoyability of a routine in the score

  • @wwDevichan lol. agreed

  • does anyone realize that this music is like kristen maloney's music in 2000?

  • @wwDevichan okay, nice talking/yelling with you. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @wwDevichan i don't know what your problem is. nastia isnt even my fav gymanst i just think she is really good. I like shawn the best and i know you'll have something to say about that. but u took this to a level it didn't need to be.

  • @wwDevichan im not saying the chinese are underaged. the judges completly helped them with their scores though.

  • @wwDevichan actually I DO NOT KNOW IT! NASTIA'S ROUTINE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND NO ONE EXCEPT YOU CAN DENY IT. SHE WON. SUCK IT UP. :P

  • @wwDevichan - Its on YT here, where Kathy explains she had no classic ballet training........with regards to the choreo competition between the USSR and ROM, to be fair at the time most of the Romanians choreo was no less short of abominable.......and that includes Nadia in that ! I even think Nadia was scored with her name in mind sometimes and not on her performance, a couple of her tens in Montreal are questionable (her landings)

  • @wwDevichan - are you talking about Kathy Johnson? her dance set was classic ballet style - ive heard she had to be taught it from scratch as she hadnt had any classical dance training, in STARK contrast of course to the soviets at the time! if it is her your referring too, her floor routine @ the 78 worlds was underscored and later changed after the crowd got involved, in contrast to Nadia who was gifted circa 9.80 for her appalling mess of a routine! she was out of shape and looked it sadly...

  • @wwDevichan nonononono, Ana's routine was gorgeous! and TOTALLY UNDERSCORED ....should have gotten at least a 15.350. But nastia's routine was beautiful too.

  • @wwDevichan They did NOT help the americans. They helped the chinese :P

  • Ksenia is so damn cute!

  • I am seriously annoyed with people still talking shit about the Chinese ages. Deng linlin is the only one that seems underage. Ksenia looks like a f*cking 14 year old! I bet she and some of the Romanians were underage. People still talk about the Chinese being underage. Wake the F*ck up people, even the Romanians and Russians don't look legit 16 age. I am a white girl and have my doubts about all the ages. They all look 13-turning 15 no matter the race. The age limit is too blame.

  • @abctooeasy its only beause they chinese won

  • @abctooeasy gymnasts typically look small and underdeveloped. its just all the athletic training. little body fat means delayed puberty. plus all that pounding on their bones probably means stunted growth. it wasn't the way some of the chinese gymnasts looked, it was sketchy records listing them as younger ages.

  • I love this routine. I just discovered how amazing she is now. Her bars routine was BITCHIN!!!!!! I love it! This has the best dancing. Love ya Ksenia!

  • I LOVE her floor routine! It is so dancey

  • She was probably the best dancer in Beijing <3

  • how old is she?

  • @gymbert13 she was 15 during this competiton

  • she should have had a bronze in the all around

  • who has used this music before?

  • @MdrnDncr87 kristen maloney used this music in 2000 olympic games :)

  • was she late to finish or the song was that soft at the end?

  • @secondaryone It's just a soft ending. She ended it right on time. :)

  • she looks like nastia at 0:14.

  • perfect body

  • gosh shes so beautiful

  • She should have done a triple instead of a double. That could have potentially knocked Yang Yilin off the podium.

  • @markedexclusive

I really don't think she could do a triple...she was alread piking down the double

  • osm

  • Cutesy, she deserved a medal for this one.

  • They should put her in the American Cup. Watch her get second or even first. Everybody would be shocked.

  • im soooo sure that she will win in 2012

  • she's so underscored in here!

  • No one said she has semen in her last name. I know I'll get thumbs down for this comment.

  • what's her ranking?

  • 4th all-around

  • all russian gymnast have nice lines look at nastia and her mother anna........i know shes russian because IMM HER BIGGGGGEST FAN

  • Love her, and love this routine. It would have been great to see her medal, but I don't think she was robbed. The field was just deep this year

  • Her vault was too weak to seriously medal. But she is such a classical gymnast, the Russians just keep dancing when everyone else is leaving it out.

  • Comment removed

  • @emmyjo720 I totally agree, she is very classical but don't forget the Chinese as well, they have exceptional artistry as well like Yuyuan, Yilin, or Sui Lu

  • I know, when I saw the floor routines of Cheng Fei and Zhang Nan in 2004, I knew they would win the team in 2008. Floor and vault had always been their weak point, then Chenig Fei dominated the vault and both had great cheorography on floor.

  • @emmyjo720 Nastia Liukin did the exact same vault. All she needs to do is not bend her knees because she over-rotates every time she did the vault in 2008.

  • @KVHolland3 It think she just needs to grow and gain more power in her legs.

She was only 15 here, and already well established as a bars and beam gymnast.

I love the Russians for maintaining their artistic tradition on the floor when so many have forgotten it.

  • @emmyjo720 Nastia had the same vault as her and she won the title, what are you saying?

  • @GymnasticJam

Semenova's vault was weaker than Nastia's in terms of execution.

  • awesome!

  • she said herself that she didn't have enough difficulty

  • really wish she had won a bronze :(

  • Even though she was robbed of a bronze here, im glad she became european champion, and I hope her success in Milan will keep her going even though worlds didnt go so well. I hope she keeps going for 2012!

  • @comanecisalto1

doubt she would... some Russian juniors are really impressive

  • well yeah, but I honestly just wanna see Russian gymnastics in general make a comeback. I love Ksenia and hope she can get her form back (aside from injuries, she lost her father over the summer, which could of played a role in her unsuccessful worlds), but Im excited for all the russian gymnasts.

  • What? Ksenia's father died too? What's happening in Russia? First, it's Ksenia's dad, then poor Yuri Ryazanov, then Kristina Goryuonova's coach, then Anna Pavlova's dad...

I REALLY hope they can back from all this and kick some major ass at Euros and Worlds.

  • Russia has great juniors so no doubt probably a team Gold medal at this year's worlds or at least the team competition is going to be a lot closer compared to how it was in 2008, like how it was for the men in 2004.

  • la mejor gimnasta

  • Умничка.

  • love the semenova spin. so innovative

  • Parts of this are quite similar to Natalia Yurchenko's music in '86. Wonderful routine from Semёnova here.

  • does she get a .1 connection bonus for her 3rd tumble pass ? where she does a 1.5 twist to a double ? =S

  • in the 3rd tumbling she does a 1.5 back twist which is a C into a double back twist which is a C as well. There are bonus points for indirect connections too (like in this case), but you gotta have at least C+D, so she probably gets nothing extra for that.

  • oh ok thanks for that ;)

  • Oh my goodness, I feel like I can go out in my backyard and perform this exact routine because she makes it look so easy. She should have medaled in the olympics.

  • What place did she get in the all around?

  • She came in fourth place.

  • Oh no! Poor Ksenia, she is SO good. =[

    Thanks for the answer!

  • Can someone please tell me what the name of the spin she does in 0:49 is? Anyway she's my favourite Russian gymnast:) And I love her floor routine.

  • It's a double turn in back attitude.

  • it's called the semenova

  • The Semenova. It's a double turn with leg in back attitude.

  • nice job!

  • little angel

  • Kristen Maloney Took Part of Ksenia's Music.

    But Semenova is the best

  • um... maloney had it first, she couldnt "take it" from her

  • she has some style of oksana omelianchik.

  • great routine but un tidiest legs ive ever seen on twists

thats probably why she was deducted so heavily

  • i agree! lovely dance work though

  • She is beautiful!!

  • She's such a excellent Gymnast.

    Nice work with the music

  • She's so cuute! I wish she at least medaled in the olympics.. Oh well, there's still worlds for her.

  • she should have gotten bronze in allaround and uneven bars.

  • all around, but not bars

  • yes ur right. beth twedle in myy opinion should have gotten bronze on bars.

  • This is one of my favorite performances at the olympics!

  • She is one of my favorite gymnast!

  • Poor Semenova!! she did an amazing job at this olympics and she did not medaled. I hope she return for 2012

  • she will win in 2012!!!

  • @violaroadkill - well she's gone off the boil slightly after winning AA @ the 2009 Euro's.....im pretty sure she was out of the medals at the 2009 & 2010 worlds - was there even an AA @ last years Europeans??

  • mitika!!!

  • Though, I would have to take some time to go over every single routine from the top five to decide. That is just based on the fact that Johnson didn't finish her amanar, and Nastia was overscored on a bunch of events.

  • As of now, I think

    Yilin

    Liukin

    Johnson

  • I personally think that Yang Yilin could have been either Gold or Silver. If you factor in the fact that Johnson didn't finish her amanar, that puts her 7 tenths down. Nastia twists her legs on every twist, and she was overscored on bars, beam, and floor.

  • Well, I like both of them, but if you look at their start scores, Yang Yilin beats Semenova on everything except BB which they are equal on. Yang Yilin is cleaner on vault and UB, and Semenova is cleaner on BB. They are equal in FX, but Yang Yilin has a higher start value, so she wins overall.

  • If Semenova wants to challenge for the Gold in the AA, she needs a DTY or an Amanar. Also, she should upgrade her floor routine difficulty.

  • She didn't upgrade in Beijing, because she was injured. I expect her to raise her A scores by this years Worlds.

  • Oh. That is a pity. It seems like everyone had problems at the Beijing olympics. Yuyuan had a shoulder injury which is why she fell on every single Amanar. Yilin didn't do an Amanar. Nistor was amazing considering that she had a horrible back injury.

  • Yang Yilin has an Amanar? WOW !!!

  • No, Jiang Yuyuan and Cheng Fei are the only two chinese gymnasts could perform Amanar.

  • @macassar88 I'm not sure about you but I really think she just worked on getting 2.5 twist around and fell and that still put her over Nastia Liukin and really got her off to a good start. I don't think she could really do the Amanar.

  • @KVHolland3 Look up Jiang Yuyuan Chinese Nationals 2008

  • @macassar88 Yeah I know she landed the Amanar, but really one of the only times.

  • @KVHolland3 She had a shoulder injury at the olympics which hampered her vault and bars.

  • @macassar88 Her bars was pretty good, oh well I just hope the floor routines good.

  • Yang Yilin was better. I think Semenova should have gotten bronze and Yang Yilin silver. Johnson didn't complete her Amanar.

  • her tumbling wasn't difficult but clean, the routine was good to watch

  • seperate legs.

  • i think in 2012 if these gymnasts will be part of the russian olympic team and if they will not get injured and will keep improving they will capture the team gold:

ksenia semenova, yulia lozhezko, nailia and aliya mustafina, komova and nabieva.

  • She is absolutely awesome. Hope she does well at worlds this year!

  • i just hope that she could be in London Olympics and have a high difficulty A score, about 6.2 i hope.

  • UNDERSCORED. why only 8.975? unfair. shawn johnson gets scores higher than 9.1 in event finals in floor when she did stick only one tumbling pass, and the whip back triple twist was not good.

  • Semyonova is really sloppy on floor

she lands with her chest low on the first pass, crossed her legs substantially throughout (and not a tight crossing, her legs flair out a bit), and her hips are turned out on her leaps

  • so if you'll make deuctions out of it, etc. what will be her A score then?

  • oh i mean B score

  • leg sep on pike full-in -0.1; deep landing -0.3

    crossed legs 2-1/2 -0.1

skip around on the toe for attitude turn -0.1

hips turned out on switch ring -0.1

crossed legs, bent knee on 1-1/2 -0.2

    crossed legs on 2/1 -0.1

leg sep on double pike -0.1

there's 8.9, perhaps some didn't deduct for the bent knee on the 1-1/2 stepout (watch Sloan's, she does it the best) or for her turned out hips on the switch ring

  • She didn't land low on her full-in (you can take 0.1 as a universal deduction for every piked element but definitely not 0.3!) and she didn't skip around her full turn. I guess she loses too much on her twists which have a very obvious leg separation, crossed ankles and upright toes. Considering she's got 3 twisting elements, that lowers her B score a lot. Apart from that, her routine was lovely and perfectly in tune with the music.

  • look at Semyonova's chest on the pike full-in, she's clearly way bent over and lifts her chest after landing

  • She does but only a tad; it's enough to get deducted, not enough to take 0.3 off. Safe to say it's -0.1.

  • I see it from NBC's angle, she's bent over more than 90 degrees, and she's at knee level, which is a .3 deduction

  • I've only seen the BBC version where she only loses 0.1. Then again, low landings have never been my pet peeve. Watch Anna Pavlova's landing on her double pike at the 2008 Euros (TF). THAT'S a 0.3 landing!

  • Another perfect example of a 0.3 deduction is Shawn Johnson's landing on her standing full on BB.

  • So does Liukin, and Liukin got a 9.375 B score.

  • Liukin's floor routine got a 9.325 B score, it was a gift because it was the last event, but a fair B score would have been around 9.1, not enough to make a difference in placings

  • liukin had a low landing in her first tumbling(but not very obvious), ugly landing on the third, legs not pointed in the double front and twisted legs in 2 and a half(AGAIN, not so obvious that she did)

  • I totally agree with you. She was given that score just so that the Americans and Chinese would get all the medals and leave nothing for Russia just because they want to and they can.

  • oh please, Yang was way ahead of Semyonova in difficulty, as were Liukin and Johnson, Semyonova actually had a higher overall execution score than Yang, it was her lack of difficulty on floor and vault that hurt her

  • puttin' on the ritz

  • the true bronze medalist

  • I KNOW!

i really like yang yilin's clean style en beam and bars, but i think ksenia is better in the 4 events!

Its a shame she returned to russia without a medal

  • Yang Yilin has a lot more difficulty in three of the events. They are comprable in SV on beam, but Semenova wins there. Yang Yilin has more than a half point more in SV than Semenova.

  • russian girls should have won a medal here!

  • i hate this music

  • music isnt something special...but choreo is awsome and it makes this routine awsome to watch...i love this routine

  • It is true. The music is very different, but Ksenia has amazing choreography for it. Every arm motion is synchronized with the music.

  • I love her.. and it seems as everyone else does too. All of the comments have lotsa thumbs ups. :D

  • I think Ksenia and Marine Petit from France will become great gymnast. Ksenia is tiny and cute and Marin who is a bit younger can dance and be graceful. We really have to keep an eye on thoses little phenomenes.

  • Poor Ksenia... She was so close to getting a medal in all-around. I love her though. She has great potential.

  • i love this routine! she really deserved to medal here. what a shame.

  • I remember really liking this when i first saw it. thats when i decided to become a fan.

  • why did she score so low, she deserved as much as yang, more. she should of won bronze

  • Amazing routine! :)

She and Pavlova are amazing! :)

  • she was way underscored on this event

  • So unfair that she din't won de bronze medall, look at her... shes wonderfull

  • damn she put it all out there... you could tell she wasn't holding back at all and really wanted to pull off an upset
