I want my Fret _Killer back, I protest. These are the best instructional video's any new or old player can learn from. Ever notice you only see Frets fingers and not his face. I was in the supermarket the other day when I herd this voice in the checkout line, I thought it was him but then I looked at his fingers. It werent him.
How the hell can Youtube justify this when they leave thousands of ripped CD's and DVD's alone? For some artists, you don't need to buy their CD's, you can just copy the uploaded tracks straight from Youtube and burn to your own CD. It's totally illogical. Maybe I'll just rip my CD collection and whack that into Youtube to see what happens. They must be morons at Youtube.

Money has ruined Music.. Everything is to make money.. rather than to be there for entertainment.. I suspect his account was removed because most of his covers were better than the originals, and because of his popularity.. Because of that, Recording Companies such as WMG and Sony lose money on their "Artists" because talented people like fretkillr divert attention from the music they get paid for.. Bearcat is a legend btw.. and if his account goes, I have all fretkllrs files on back up!
I would be very surprised if it was Youtube that banned the wonderful Fretkiller. I think it must have been his recording company or something similar. Youtube would have to ban about 75% of all that are on here if it was purely because he played and sang covers!

He wasn't a teacher, but he was an inspiration. He wasn't good, he was GREAT. He's just a legend, and I'm not really angry but more sad that Youtube removed his account due to some foolish reasons.
I am a 100% sure that a lot of other people, along with me, just got their old guitars out and started playing again because of him.
And I thank you for that, fretkillr. We all thank you for that. And we will be waiting for you to come back, even though you might not.

you'd think with YouTube's new policy of placing a link under the video to purchase the song at an external site would let him come back with those links under all his videos. It's really all bull anyway, music is intellectual property but as an artist I would be honored if someone else played my music.

@bastardsofnazareth but typically copyright laws are provided so that the person covering the music can't make money themselves without paying the original artist royalties. And youtube is placing original song purchase links under other cover songs all over the site, without removing users. I just don't see why fretkillr was an exception.

What I don't understand is why YouTub considers covers of copyrighted material illegal? Why don't the record labels bust tribute bands or those covering copyrighted songs in their band's set? It's the same thing with guitar tabs - it's the author's interpretation of a song's music score, not a photocopy of the orignal composition? It was the same thing with Naudo - too many covers of coprighted music by TALENTED musicians will get an account axed. If you're a hack, you're not a threat....

It's like raging over a bootlegged COVER SONG - it's NOT the SAME FUCKING SONG, SCROOGE! Give a (once cool) geek a lawyer and a checkbook and watch him sell out! Where does it end? It's okay to host "lossy" recordings but don't let your file approach anything greater than VGA@32kbps audio if the material is copyrighted. Don't dare use YouTube to promote your college band anymore, as their new business model now depends on suing you out of your scolarship trust!
