i like this show but compared to the original it's definitely not as good, mostly because they use such simple and boring ingredients, whereas the japanese one uses such exotic and expensive ingredients - it makes it more of a challenge

i agree with almost everything you just said; Mario is definitely bigger than Bobby, that's not only literally, and this was basically Mario vs Bobby. it's also true that Giada is a better chef than Rachael, which is probably why she got Bobby instead of Mario as a "partner." but Rachael might be a little under-rated, even though she could look and sound shallow and stupid sometimes she has some great tricks up her sleeves to create some unique flavors.

Rachel and Mario worked soooo much better together, and Mario gave Rachel credit for that. Rachel has NEVER bragged about being a classically trained chef. Giada's only excuse was she probably got too nervous, because frankly SHE SUCKED!

Is it me or are all the criticisms coming from the fact that cranberries don't fit with any dish?

When I saw Giada working on cranberry/squash ravioli, I was like, this ain't gonna work. I mean, I don't like cranberries because there are so few dishes that they fit into. It was as if the chefs were saying, "we infused cranberries" or "we topped it with cranberries". It just doesn't work that way.

I don't think that cranberries suffer from a lack of versatility, it's just that these dishes just don't incorporate them very well. There's a lot more you can do with cranberries than what I've seen here so far.
