there are a few parts that are a little scratchy in pitch, and whoever was doing the 'Eyy--.. Eyy--.' really got annoying after awhile, not because its part of the song, but the way he was singing it.. like he was getting jabbed in the back of the leg or something

they were at ICCA Semifinals. In ICCA you're graded on choreography... if you want to go far in an a capella competition, you have to have movements... but I know what you mean.

Not necessarily. Rocktavo , an all-male a capella group from Nebraska, had absolutely NO choreo for the set and got 2nd place at Nationals in 2007.

And the last time they competed they stayed in one place and they got butchered for it. They didn't make it out of quarter finals.

I'm not necessarily defending Rocktavo and/or bashing Beartones when it comes to choreography. Both are excellent and talented groups. I'm just saying a lot of things factor into competitions like this and some judges look for different things every year. Sometimes when it all comes down to it, it's all a matter of preference.
