  • drink some tea dude

  • Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields has inspired many of this generations most successful songwriters. He was relatively unknown for most of his career. Check out The Magnetic Fields, The 6ths, The Gothic Archies, and The Future Bible Heroes - all his bands.

  • @lighttriad Was? He's still active. Though his heyday was the '90s, and nothing he does will ever match up to his work during that time period...

But I hate to raise up irrelevant points while commenting on these things. Thank you so much, this or The Shins' Strange Powers is the best Mag Fields cover. Still doesn't approach the original.

  • I think I just nutted

  • I think i actually was born on a train. love this song, and i love this cover.

  • Is he channeling Tom Waits for this one?

  • The Mild Revolution do a really good cover of this song! Look them up.

  • Win, eat some gravel or start drinking more whiskey and smoke too often, because I love your voice sounding this rough.

  • he needs to clear his throat a bit.lol and i didnt hear the accordion very much, or well.

  • yikes...im clicking back the MF version...

  • He swaps 2nd and 1st verse of the original song and I think the lyrics kind of lose some strenght that way.

  • Oh my god. Arcade Fire covering Magnetic Fields? This could not be more perfect. Plus its one of my favorite MF songs.

Boy, he's developing quite the growl isn't he?

  • I believe he was a little under the weather on these recordings.

  • @ChrisSketch almost Tom Waity. Have you heard MF cover heroes? That's pretty damn perfect.

  • si no goteas...no tenes corazon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • de acuerdo

  • can anyone tell me what he says, i dont understand This song is maybe one of the reasons why i..... i dont know what the last word is

  • "This is a Magnetic Fields Song, and this song is maybe the reason we're on Merge cause I was working,I was working in a shoe store in Boston and this song came on, "I was like what in hell is this song," it's amazing and I kept calling and requesting it; it's called Born on a Train"

Merge is a record label that the Magnetic Fields and Arcade Fire are both signed to.

  • thanks!!!

  • amazing i have this version

  • splendide chanson...comme toujours avec eux.
