Lavoisier "In nature, nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed". same amount of water here now as there was then......its just in different places. why dont people get that?
@Harov2 This is precisely the point. Is water resources going toward keeping golf course landscapes green, compared to people without access to safe drinking water, really where the resource should be directed? Reports from UN estimate that golf courses consume a staggering 2.5 billion gallons/9.5 billion liters of water DAILY. This is inexcusable.
@libragoddess04 ok ill try a rebuttal. but ill throw it out that i am a golf course superintendent. so my opinion may come off as biased. truth 1. most golfers are shit bag "whites" with a ton o money. truth 2. Golf courses use a lot of water. i seriously doubt most, if any, golf courses use potable or drinking safe water for irrigation. disclaimer some sierra desert courses use pumped city water. but the amount that do wouldnt put a dent in 2.5 billion gallons a year. . continued.
@Harov2 I appreciate your input as someone actively involved in the golf industry. There is an effort for golf courses to use reclaimed water, which is important. However, some courses still use potable drinking water for irrigation. (As does a portion of UCSB's irrigation grounds! An additional unfortunate recent discovery!) But this is why I make a direct cut to Maude Barlow saying "We can do much more with conservation." This point is a key emphasis that grounds my stance on the matter.
@libragoddess04 my point i s you dig for water or oil. deeper for the later . but one is more lucrative. golf courses are a scratch in the iceburg. a scratch. its a matter of pointing fingers. water? water? golf courses? what about damns? oil rigs? the same jack asses that build the damns play golf. you dont get it, its finger pointer all in the wrong direction. nevermind
@Harov2 Of course golf courses aren't the only problem. Who said they were? This video focuses on the subject as ONE (amongst many) that merit valid concern. There is no "finger pointing" in the "wrong direction," as if there even were a unitary right or wrong direction to be distinguished. Since you feel otherwise, I encourage you make your own remix that investigates your concerns. :D
Sounds like a investment wakeup call invest in water!
