Yeah, definitely... it is cool when you can hear a "sound". Maybe some artists resent the level of control one producer has. Producers have been elevated to the point of being considered artists themselves. Collaboration should be more than just providing a beat but working with others can be difficult. If your goal is selling a lot of records, having more artists associated with your work can give an artist a wider potential audience. Writing classic tunes might require sacrifice and hard work
thats the fucking truth. and the other thing is that record labels dont let artists grow anymore. they expect huge sales & number one hits on the first album or theyre gonna be dropped.

Man this is exactly how I feel. You don't see real well put together "albums" anymore. A great album beats a hit single any day in my book.
