Legacy driver didnt work for me...........isnt crashing now at DAE it is just freezing, first it froze at Initializing Machine Controls, then crashed at initial fire up of PT, installed the Legacy driver, now it is freezing at DAE even after the Legacy driver.
I have had nothing but problems ever since buying Pro Tools. After losing a computer several months back, and finally trying to install PT again and getting BSOD, I am done with Pro Tools! Please, somebody, what is the alternative hardware/software? I seriously believe this Pro Tools is a scam!
Havin a similar problem except my blue screen says hardware malfunction "the system has haulted" Im on win 7 ultimate 64bit my 1394 light blinks for a while then comes the blue screen any help????
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TOO..BUT MINE SAYS TO CONNECT THE HARDWARE..I TRIED EVERY USB PORT AND STILL WONT READ THE HARDWARE..I ALSO REINSTALL THE PRO TOOLS SOFTWARE AND STILL NOTHING.I HAVE WINDOWS XP AND RECENTLY UPGRADED MY HD AND DID A RECOVERY ON IT..IT WAS WORKING FINE TIL NOW..CAN ANYONE HELP ME
There is a fix choose the legacy driver for the firewire controller. The reason you do this is that win7 comes with a new firewire controller drivre that is not compatible with older hardware like the digi 002. This solution worked for me. No more bsod
@fridrikur The solution is to update the firewire controller that the digi is using and using a legacy driver by choosing the option 'i will search for the driver myself'
@BrklynVez No download needed. Just go to the device explorer of the control panel and click on the iee1394 bus host controller section and right click the one that your firewire audio device is connected to and chose update software driver and chose the option seek for drivers yourself, once in there chose legacy driver.
@BrklynVez The 1394 bus driver that is included with Windows 7 replaces the 1394 bus drivers that were included with earlier versions of Windows, and sadly most firewire devices are not compatible with that and vica versa, so there for we use the legacy driver instead. The one that worked in xp
@UltraEnigmaRaps67 No you do not need the legacy driver in xp. Just use the driver that came with your firewire card. I believe that the firewire bus host controller driver in xp is the same as the legacy driver in windows 7, thus the name legacy driver. But if it works there is no need to change drivers.
@fridrikur thx but I just find out the problem Pro Tools could not find the m audio hardware so I installed it again so know it works fine now so I guess I did something wrong when I first installed it by the way thx for replaying back mate peace :)

@fridrikur I looked up the drivers but there's only 2 & there's no IEEE 1394 or legacy driver. I'm running Windows 7 btw.
