  • We need to vote Conaway out of office next time. This guy just isn't all there. He mentioned today that 'Just like when we got Saddam Hussein, killing Bin Laden will not be the end of Terrorism.Say what?Saddam Hussein didn't have any links at all w/Bin Ladin/Taliban/Al Queda/Saudi Arabia or anyone else that attacked us on 9/11 It amazes me that someone holding office in our state is out of touch w/facts. What a stupid statement for a sitting Congressman to make. Our state should feel embarassement

  • Once again:

GOP - run by corporations & the wealthy, supported by the gullible and stupid

  • Many times the minority is in the right. Think of the founders of this nation.Thank goodness for Mike Conaway who works tirelessly to represent the people of his district. Would that the foul mouthed responders would stop the inane thoughts that fill their brain long enough to listen to reason. Only our votes and a return to the values that our forefathers held true can save us from the mess that we are in.

  • The real, main reason to vote against this bill is because it is a prime example of Socialism. Our country was neither founded on, nor intended to be, a Socialist country. The government is already too big, and this will only add to its size.

I will not even mention the probability that this bill is unconstitutional.

Rep. Conaway, thank you for representing the values of your constituency.

  • Right on Mike. Go get'm! Dont' pass this or Cap and Trade. Voted for you, Kay and John. Keep up the good work.

  • I will not be happy to pay for some lazy woman who won't bother to get on birth control to murder her baby . I am not a child killer and do not intend to support one. Enough said !

  • What a stupid bunch of folks with these posts below which is more than obvious with your choice of language. You expect a free ride, you never take responsibility for anything including paying your own way on health insurance, you expect to get everything for free - that system doesn't work any more than you likely do. The democrats are playing politics you fool, you think they care about your lazy rear end! Shame on you.

  • Fuck off Conaway you Corporate prostitute . Why don't you worry about the private insurance companies dragging this country under ?

  • I do not think this person should of said in this way but I think that the private insurance companies dragged this country down too. I am glad that people like Conaway are watching our backs.

  • No government wants to have to fund a health care program. They would rather use the money for pork-barrel project to buy votes. However, if the governing party puts forth a HC bill, they want it to work. so that they get more votes next election. By contrast the party out of power (Republicans) want to discredit the bill & block it if possible so that their own chances of getting back in power improve. Did anyoney think the

GOP were fighting the bill because they were concerned about you?

  • Mr. Conaway, I'm sure there are many reasons why this plan will not work, but let's not spend our time arguing the points. We should say no to the bill simply because it is 1900 pages long.

  • Yeah, any bill you could support has to be no more than 3 pages, including the pictures for coloring.

  • President Bush took office with the country already in recession and look what your Obamaboy has done with near 4 trillion deficit. But what the dumb dumbs did was exactly what you accuse Bush of doing! 06 when your Pelosi witch took control is when this country started a nasty nosedive. And your lies don't change the facts. If I want to hear socialist demonic lies I'd watch, CNN, CBS, ABC, MSNBC or read the NY slime.

  • Our neighbors to the North are begging to get out of there and not one single person is in the least happy with their HC. You're well programmed by the Obamanomics of lies, blaming the previous administration for EVERYTHING! If President Bush had the majority of house and senate we would have gotten this country moving.

  • 2009 Nanos Research poll: ..86.2% of Cnd.s surveyed supported or strongly supported "public solutions

2009 Harris/Decima poll:..82% of Cnds preferred their H.C. system to the one in the U.S., more than ten times as many as the 8% stating a preference for a US-style health care system for Canada.

2008 Strategic Counsel survey 91% of Canadians prefer their healthcare system to that of the U.S

  • Thank you sir for taking a firm stand against this pile of garbage!!

To the Obama worshipers, perhaps you will be first on his death squad list. Which the liar declared wasn't there, and please send congrats to Hill for messing up the health care system we had before the demon was given carte blanche selling us out to the drug companies. Check out how her pockets were rewarded!

  • I can't believe this idiot is trying to pass off a couple of blank bundles has a healthcare reform bill.

    What a dip shit!

  • The bill was nuch smaller this summer. Are not the additions based on public input and congressional debate since July? To bad the Republicans did not address the healthcare issue when they had the chance. The problem, costs out pacing inflation, began before the Clinton initiative.

  • the way to fix it...is for #1 the doctors/hosptials to stop billing exorborant amts to a) patients and b) insurance companies...#2 for medical suppliers - equipment makers/prescription companies to lower prices and #3 to lower malpractice insurance fees...in a perfect world that would work...but the almighty dollar will win out as it always has...

  • Way to fix it is through competition.

Reimburse the drs. more fairly, so they do not have to make up losses, less regulation of insurance and pharmaceuticals, stop the buyouts for monopolyzing, In the end it will lower insurance permiums

  • Both partys abuse power! The dems are abusing it now with this takeover.

Of course we want Obama to fail just like everything and every issue. Because we as Americans do NOT WANT SOCIALIST HELLCARE.

Keep preaching brother your really getting far. just look at your comments and your channel. THAT IS PROOF!

  • I agree with your assessment and hope the bill in its current form is defeated. I would like to see the congress pass the targeted issues that you spoke of as they seem to be what we need to get better healthcare in our country. Keep up the good work.

  • I agee with you on this! But ALL OF Congress needs To COME HOME! .......TERM LIMITS! You are spending MY money! And You voted for the first bail out, that Bush proposed! You need to be replaced, with a True conservative! ....

  • I expected you to oppose this bill. My question i how can we be assured that the blue dogs don't turn yellow? What would put enough pressure on the rest of Our Congress to make them "see the light".

  • Thank you, sir, for having the common sense and the courage to not go along with the massive mistake. I so appreciate your willingness to stand against what is obviously the wrong way to do this. THANK YOU!!!

  • I agree you that the plan you were showing will not work. Just look at the size of this bill. Waste, Waste, Waste. However, something needs to be done to fix the medical and insurance problem in this country and now.

  • I totally agree with you. I wish that congress had tried to do something when Pres. Bush was in office. Please do not waste any more money.

    thank you,

    Ken

  • Thank you for doing this. I completely agree with where you stand and am glad you represent district 11.

  • Comment removed

  • I applaud listening to the constituents and voting no on this bill. I do think allowing companies to compete for our business across state lines would be the best place to start. It is free. I also feel that this is Obama's legacy, and he will shove it down our throat no matter the cost. It seems with our numbers there is no way to defeat this bill, so what exactly can we do as constituents to produce a win win scenario? I am sure impeachment is out of the question until the 2010 elections :-)

  • Yet another Republican trying to block HC reform.

    How educational.

  • Yet another liberal who thinks that the government is the answer to all the problems in the world.

Time to wake up megarational. While our health care system is not perfect, it is the best in the world.

The wastes of medicare will be multiplied by this legislation!

HC Reform is needed but not like this. The proposed changes that Rep. Conaway supports is the correct way to go about this.

  • The US HC system has pockets of excellence. The crisis is that millions are barred from access (other than to emerg. wards) by lack of HC insur. The U.S. is the only advanced nation that doesn't cover all citizen with affordable HC.

As fof Conway and Republicans: they had the White House for 8 years, and most of the time both houses, yet did nothing. The're not proposing changes now because they are suddenly interested in the issue. They just want to bring Obama down.

  • As for any Republican plan, where was it all this time. Even now where is the CBO estimate of how much it would cost, how many more would be covered, & it's effect on HC premiums? Would it close the doughnut hole for seniors, stop insur. co. discrimination for gender or preexisting conditions, dropping coverage if you get sick, or capping benefis? etc.

If they are successful in once again blocking HC reform don't expect any real change.

  • Insur. Co's & GOP fight the public option harder than any other part of the bill. Why? It's the only part of the plan that's funded by premiums and not taxpayers & most people wouldn't even qualify for it. .

You have to look at motivations. GOP doesn't want any Obama plan to succeed, because that would lessen GOP chances to regain the power they so abused when they were in office. You also have to follow the money, & it leads back to the half billion in lobbying & campaign contributions. .

  • Do I think that gov't is the answer to everything? Of course not.

Do I think that the private enterprise system has proven the most effective at innovation & economic growth? Absolutely.

But do I think that some gov't intervention is necessary to ensure all citizens have affordable access to HC and don't depend on the cycles and profit motive of free enterprise?

    YES.

  • All you have to do is look at the countries that have GHC! Not ONE is solvent. Taxes as close to 50%.

Why do you think most the important people that need surgery come here for it? I've talked to a couple of them and they hate it. Long lines, 3-6 months just to see a doctor.

    Baloney!

I use to be R, but now I'm just plain conservative I don't care what party they come from just as long as they are also.

I agree the R's did nothing in 8 years. That's wat turned me against most of them.

  • Actually, Canada is in far better shape than the US.

It hasn't been selling off the country to China. lower unemployment, better balance of trade, financial institutions were never on the verge of collapse, and all citizens get affordable health care. As for people going elsewhere for surgery a) unless they were rich why would they go somewhere that wouldn't treat them without insurance? Are you aware that more & more Americans are going abroad for operations due to the absurd costs in the US?

  • A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

    Gerald Ford

  • Ford probably said that after tripping down the steps and bumping his head.

Seriously, that's not the issue with this HC reform bill, no matter how often Republicans try to portray it as such.

  • Yes, mega, that is precisely what this is about...government take-over of your rights. I hope we conservatives are able to save your bacon!

  • If I wanted to hear the same old propaganda I'd tune into Fox News where it's spread 24/7.

  • Everyone. Don't bother trying to change megarational's mind. It's closed and like other hardcore Dem's, Aint goin to happen!!

Can't see and doesn't want to.. Hail to Obama!

Just like the children in school. It makes me sick.

  • No one has to save my bacon. I was born in the US & have lived there at times, but I live in Canada now & I don't have to worry about affordable health care. I went to a walk-in clinic last week (arthritis) & even without appointment waited only 45 min's. And I don't get any bill. I go in for ultrasound on the shoulder Nov 25, & operation in December. No bill. We pay for it, but it's part of taxes, and if you think we pay more for it in taxes than you do in absurd HC premiums, you're nuts.

  • I think the American people do not mind paying taxes for good health care. The problem is that the private health care companies do not like that because they will not have control to get richer and the government will be watching them. Corporate bussiness is the ones running this country. The other countries are just laughing at us. It is sad because in the beginning the government was build by the people and for the people not the corporate monsters.

  • Yup.

The US is royally screwed unless it gets money out of politics. That means publicly funded elections, and prohibiting campaign contributions from corporations and unions. It also means that there should be limits on corporations saturating the airwaves with propaganda commercials without some critically important info. on who is running the ads.
