  • I just uploaded a video I recorded of music from the Nutcracker played on piano by 20th century modern classical music composer, Professor Walter S. Hartley. It was his last selection at his final piano recital before he retired from teaching at SUNY Fredonia, March 1, 2000, Adams Art Gallery, Dunkirk, NY.

  • on the side, click on "Tchaikovsky- The Nutcracker Suite for piano solo", its even better than this one! great work, both of you!.... *still watching... so good i forgot to post* woah, look at her hands at 4:13

  • I never played piano in my entire life(48 years) and someone gave me an upright piano in fall 2009 that needs a slight tune-up.I've tried it and was able to figure out some songs within 2 to 3 hours...not as sophisticated as this, but,I would'nt mind to give it a try.It is such a beautifull display of team work.I never thought that I would like classical music. This performance tickled my curiosity...

  • does anyone where's the melody from, in the beginning

  • @kobeip its from the waltz of flowers by Tchaikovsky the ending is a harp cadenza :3

  • @MadeInKorea02 no... i mean the melody played by piano solo before the actual waltz of the flowers

  • Hello, I'm from Brazil. I've played the part of Waltz of the Flowers as a teenager, he studied piano at the time. It's just amazing this song, captivating. Congratulations to the two pianists in this video, very well interpreted the waltz.

  • @Pianoman37 what racism?

  • this is just so Amazing..how hard for two to play the piano, the same piece, it has to be completely without mistakes..so graceful :')

  • 3:32

  • very nice playing, nice duo

  • wauw!

    this is so beautifull.

i'm playing the piano for a year now, so my work is more fur elise and rondo alla turca.

    but this is really great!

i hope i will ever play this good!

  • Bravissimo!

  • "Fly away little moth, fly!"

  • i can't believe how amazingly it can be played in piano!

  • I told myself last year that my goal for this summer would be to learn this piece completely. Your performance is so incredible. I can only hope to become half so accomplished at this. My version is for 2 hands, but this is just...breathtaking. I applaud you!

  • This is so amazing. Does anyone have the music sheets for this one? One of the best versions I've heard.

  • so graceful..

    miraculous

  • the way pianoman37 that you are playing this waltz is how tchaikovsky wanted this to be played this is perfect he wrote this during his dark era when he was battling depression amazingly enough good pieces do get written in a persons worst of times your rendition of this song is great and your partner is awesome as well great playing guys

  • this is absolutely amazing~! I am so proud of you, Shanshan jiejie!

  • @chax1603

    It DID make me cry!

  • well done~~~~

  • What is the credits music??? Its lovely

  • Bellisimo!

I am just speechles. I didn't know piano version to that wonderful piece even exists, but that isn't a mere piano version. It expresses all the beauty and cleverness of this piece without omitting anything from the experience.

They can see me as a fan from now on:)

  • bravo !

  • I would love a little bit of ritardando at the end but I can't even play any close to this hehe great !

  • its not only good music but also good interpretation. They did a good job here....

  • love it

  • Absolutely wonderful. Heavenly.

    Thank you.

  • AMAZING!!!!!! i'VE GOT GOOSEBUMPS ALL OVER ME :-)))))

  • trippy piano. I love it. :)

  • i could listen to this all day. so relaxing

  • Beautiful.

  • i am 14 years old. grade 7piano, played since i was 5, and i think this is one of the most beautiful pieces ever to play on the piano, and one of the most technially challenging, to make it sound like your own.

  • I always wanted to have these notes for piano 4 hands

  • I am from Greece and believe me I play the piano for 6 years and I think that this is one of the most beautiful pieces i ve ever heard!just wonderful!this is a waltz!

  • @TheAndromahi no i played piano for 8 yrs...unfortunately 4 u, i dont think so

  • funny how much bs you're talking without having a clue.

  • @ROBOROB0

Obviously leanthros2 has no clue what a waltz is. But then given he cannot spell properly what can one expect from the mentally challenged?

  • @leanthros2

Im sorry but I know children who are 14 and who have more knowledge in music than you!

So please do not comment anymore on music video's. You are only harming the internet with useless comments like yours.

  • @lexsis1901 Agreed, 100%, and I know children a lot younger than 14 who know more about music... like a 6-year-old who I babysit. The state of the world today... does he even know what waltz means? Because that would be REALLY sad.

  • oh man... so much memorizing for this

  • i've been looking for a solo version too. i found a whole book of the nutcracker suite, but i don't know how the version really is. but sooner or later i'll get this duet and someone else to play with me, because i'm pretty sure the solo is a lot different from the duet, which is a beast.

  • They have excellent technique.

  • This is probably the most beautiful thing I have heard in a very long time.

  • "Waltz of the Flowers", how beautiful!!!!!!!

  • to bluetiger546: It's an illusion. The piano on the right would have had its lid taken off for the performance so as not to block the sound (this is why piano soloists always perform with the orientation of the left piano)

  • Incredible

  • *_*

  • haha their hands are like spiders.... D:

i can never play like that haha ;]

  • I was just thinking the same thing. Especially Sun's

  • im loving this piece.

i want a solo piano sheet for this but i just can't find it...grrrrrr.....

  • you can buy it. it's quite cheap. i got the nutcracker suite for £4. or you can go to IMSLP via wiki and search it there

  • try free-scores or free-sheets com, I've found some there.

  • Is this a double ended grand?. i only see one lid and at 5:50 it looks like one long case, not 2 grands side by side. Maybe its an illusion..but it seriously looks like they are playing at 2 ends of a double grand piano.

  • so beautiful..

  • This is the best vals.....and this is the best interpretation....wonderfull

  • OMG that was beautiful

  • This is the best version of this music i ever heard...congrats

  • SO AMAZING

  • it is a bow!

  • hahaha i thought one guy in the audience had a bow on top of his head until i realized it was the piano leg.

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow very well transcribed and played

  • how??????

  • Amazing!

  • that part at around 5:19 is so in-sync!

  • so beautiful

  • very nicely played and filmed! loved the (almost) match cuts.

  • eu simplesmente adoro esta musica,é uma referência de tschaik. esta performance.absolutamente meus parabéns .reginaldo.Brasil.

  • Absolute beauty

  • I never heard two piano sound tolerable together much less absolutely amazing! This is a gem. Superb.

  • I would like this version on my Ipod.

  • Thank you both of you for this great performance.

    Violette

  • very well done,nice rythm anf sinchronization,congrats!

  • yes, yes, I do agree, this IS sex! haha

  • i don't know how they can remember all of that without any sheet music! very good

  • Breathtaking! My favourite piece of music! I also play it in piano, but this is fascinating, I've never heard it played on two pianos.

  • this is sex

  • excellent performance but at the end they got a bit out of control speeding up almost involuntarily

  • i wish i could play like that...

  • if you practice hard you CAN

  • absolutely insipiring.

  • Amazing.

  • Hi, I'm not a piano player, and I'll have a naive question : when playing this kind of duet, I guess there should be a leader, in order to keep players well in time with one another.

But I can't see who is the leader here... thus, is it a miracle ? :-)

It is specially amazing with this style of music, with its frequent rubatos !!

  • There is no real leader. Each play has their own equal ammount of notes etc. They are just well in snyc this really takes alot of practice.

They take turns soloing little bits of the song but none of them are actualy the "leader"

  • Thanks for the answer, my question was indeed about sync, they seem to be very experienced !

  • that piano is amazing. so was the duet

  • i'm learning this piece now, but WOW. this duet is AWESOME. :)

  • Hey Per, was this DIVINE INTERVENTION??? LOL or did u actually practice it?

  • Man this makes the original solo version sound stupid, this duet rendition must be custom made.

  • lol thats undeniably true

  • DOES ANYBODY KNOWS THE NAME OF THE SONG THAT STARTS AT 6.35 TILL THE END?!?!?

    Thank you for help!!

  • It's definitely one of the Lyric Pieces by Grieg, but I can't remember which one. Search for the the Emil Gilels recording on iTunes and listen to the sound clips - you'll find it.

  • i like that it's on 2 pianos. i used to think that only an orchestra could make this piece so colorful. bravo!

  • This is an advanced level piece even for a student with years of lessons and experience under his/her belt. Even harder is playing perfectly and syncing with your duet, I guess this is why these people are professionals.

  • at the end the only notes i could recognize was D, C#,B# and nothing else they play like if they were on fast fordward

  • hey you mean B flat. Well I can see G# and sometimes F# :D

  • yeah sorry i was thinking about A sharp you are rigth

  • se nota que es en suecia. Todo hecho a medias y sin alma

  • awesome!!!

  • magnificent!

  • Noticed, how this guy raises his fingers so damn high? It makes playing much more difficult, IMHO

  • What else?

  • WAHO !

  • aweeesoome!

  • Sublime :)

  • superb

  • very nice, but for me the sound is more beautiful with violin and chelo (:

  • What can i say they are awesome piano players they make it look soo easy but its not its harderd then you think for them its easy but for some like me its hard

  • what kind of grand piano is that?

  • Judging from the symbol on the side (just barely visible) I'd say they are Steinway piano's

  • Two Steinway pianos, isn't it?

  • this is a doble fuel tank grand piano

  • Perfect!!! I love the final.

  • 6:04 ... Video transition looks weird on him. Still great performance, 5/5 <3

  • Exelentes tecincas =D

  • grandioso

  • Wow! i went to school in helsingborg and always wanted to visit Dukers kulturhus! if i had known they were playing Tchaikovski i would have gone! amazing performance!

  • how old is she?

  • Wow, man, that was amazing piano performance!!! 5 stars

  • that guy is really feeling what he plays!

  • this is almost too perfect...

  • I agree. They must be robot artists from the future.

    jk

  • XD!!! That's what I thought!

  • i whistled to this thing and now my lips feel swollen lolz

  • i wonder if piano players would like to take a break from playing and dance to the music like other people do?
