  • We danced our behinds off to this song forever. Suzanne Vega was the truth. Whatever that was at the time.

  • what was DNA,S dance song anyone

  • oh god. i used to work for A&M. We had to sell this.... AND IT FLEW OUT!

de de de de de de de de de de de de de de de de .........

  • good music and lyrics are timeless

  • Right. The original wasn't released as a single but it opens and closes the CD "Solitude Standing", which is amazing.

  • Great song.

This video makes shittons of sense.

  • @rayvenhammin FYI, She is considered to be the mother of all MP3. This song was the one that was tested for MP3s.

  • DNA Rules!!!

  • Some songs just don't need a video, but these images are beautiful though.

  • 87? Holy shit, I grew up with this song. Could have sworn it would have been from 96-97

  • @klonoagta2 same here, just found it today!

  • Used to watch this on mtv back when I was 10 years old.....always made me wonder if I would ever fall in love with a cool beautiful girl and be happy......I'm now 29 and ive never been in love....oh well at least I was born in America......so lonely tho

  • what the hell happened to the 80s and 90s .....

  • @yuri250333 I'm Still Trying To Get Answers To That Question!!

  • This is a rare example of a remix that really enhanced and improved an original rather than simply rip it off. Which seems to be 50% of todays pop crap.

  • Haha it wasnt 30 years ago i was 14 1990 gr8 tune an yes she still made it big. Just remember the best music was the 1980s an 1990s an some i like now 2000 an over

  • The music video. IT MAKES SENSE.

  • Dodododododododo....

  • Finally I like it

  • With this song we pratise rhythm in modeling agency, it's so contagious

  • I heard this song on the radio and immediately thought, "Damn! What a great song, I bet this singer is gonna make it big after this."

I just googled Suzanne Vega and I swear my fucking jaw hit the floor when I realized this was recorded 30 years ago.

  • @KotoKokopelli Oh she made it big alright.

  • @KotoKokopelli Doesn't matter when you get to the party...just enjoy yourself!

  • @KotoKokopelli OMG, my generation just got replaced!!? I don't feel old yet! :(

  • i must listen to this song to make me forget that horrible rap song that stole this beat

  • @Darkfirefire what?.. which one?

  • @elspeks i don't know what its called or who sings it but its the one that goes: "I get money, i get paper, i get girls all different flavours."

  • @Darkfirefire lol that song was by Drake & Kevin Cossom/

I've heard other artists sample this aswell.. Peace.

  • I remember rolling around the cold sheets in my bedroom with the smell of COLORS of Benetton still in the cool stiff air when suddenly, this song came on- spinning off my reel-to-reel in college Upstate NY in 1990; and staring up at the ceiling & I realized I had just begun loving this stage of life though in the midst of chaos. This song captures it- awesome! Oh yeah and of course...my beautiful girlfriend asleep next to me. Life is like such a wonderful movie we create as we go along...

  • VINTAGE 90 MUSIC .NJ.

  • this song has a deeper meaning than this!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! :D :D!

  • I'm so glad I found this! Another 90's classic. Smooth and sexy...

  • ....as she was fixing her stockings her hair was black and wet.... brilliant and sexy!

  • whats the different between the dna remix and the original?

  • The original had no beat, just a cappella.

  • and we thought 'Friday - Rebecca Black' was bad .... LOL

  • And while you're at it, folks, help this poor imagery-challenged cretin (myself) in the understanding of all that symbolism -- I *guess* that's what it's called -- going on in this video. What's with the falcon and the splashing water and all the other abstract art, and how does it relate to the lyrics? Again, forgive the ignorance.

  • @kflusa It basically symbolizes "We don't give a falcon's balls if any of this makes sense, our music is fucking awesome, and you will like it."

  • @kuriosity89 Oh. Thanks.

  • Someone help me out here. Are the two dancing dudes -- associated with the remix by DJ's Nick Batt and Neal Slateford -- the actual Nick and Neal, or just two dancers hired for the video? Also, who's the lady doing a little dancing herself, beginning at 0:26 -- is that Suzanne? She has short hair, and I associate Suzanne with long hair. Forgive the ignorance. I'd appreciate someone enlightening me about who's who.

  • Oh Suzanne...how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. Perfect coffeehouse vocal bit married to that Brit DJ backup. An essential for everyone's collection!

  • Someone just linked me this song......its now stuck in my head for a week...dammit >.<

  • I wish I could hear this in 1080 :'(

  • this is the only good version of this song...i can care less about the acapella version!

  • banging tune. i used to play this full volume when i was younger and was always played in the school dances. LOve it.

  • Thanks for the posting... brings back good memories...back in the days this mix was only available overseas!!!!!

  • This music video irritates me. I like the song though.

  • Ifound dis song Ive been lookin for since iwas like 13/14...lol.

  • Tão bom de ouvir essa musica... curto d+

  • This is like my theme song. Lyrics are so simple yet so magical. Has like the perfect nostalgia. Song should never end.

  • amazing rhythm

  • THIS SONG IS AWESOME , iM 20 ANS THIS IS SIMPLE, VERY SAD AND AWESOME

  • jesus, where did 2 years go? suzan vega made a good decision to accept dna's remix of this song though it was unauthorised. but for 20 years ive been wondering why it sounded like soul II soul's 'keep on movn.''

  • @blackpassenger and I'd say they improved on it

  • @Malcos68 and i'd say you are very very very right. vast improvement.

  • It also sounds good coming from my Rolls Royce Phantom...sorta like rich trailer trash!

  • Great tune,Great voice and a nice looking chick too

  • I sure remember this song back in the 90s when I was still a teenager growing up. Man how the years fly by when you had great music like this around. To bad the year 2000 music is the worst. 50s, 60s,70s,80s and 90s were the best years of great music and artists that would write and create their own masterpiece. The dances were so awesome that people would dance. Sure remember having this song on my MTV greatest hits cassette. Thanks for the upload ZephyrAndy. Glad you put up the remix version.

  • She was no Lady Caca, thank God. Unfortunately, her music will not sell millions today due to the onslaught of irresponsible commercialism & gimmicks prevelant in today's mainstream artists. God forbid pop music should move us or make us think!

  • his song hasn't aged well :/

  • @CoolColJ24 Are you joking, it was amazing in the 80s and it's even better now.

  • Ahhh... What a nice & relaxing song.

    Makes me feel good.

    Maybe sleep.

I don't know. But ahhh, it's so refreshing, if you listen to it with your heart.

It's like drinking nice cold water after a hot sunny day of play or exercise.

    So good.

  • Suzanne was one of the 90's best singer with clearest, purest and most poetic voices ever

  • Ace tune, love it!

  • fuck me....... this one is the best when having sex...

  • Pro mne vzpomínka na rok 1991...

  • This is a rap song cloaked in mid 90s techno and melodrama

  • I don't really understand how this is a remix... It doesn't stray that far away from the original!

  • i was lookiin for this song never c oul d find it till now lol

  • Great song, great remix and great video.

If there's a land called "1990" then I wanna go there!

  • Brilliant, still stands up after many years and many plays.

  • 13 sec. The EYE!!!

  • 1 person got food poisoning at Tom's Diner

  • Soo much better then the original vid that was waaay lame.

  • where did you get the clean acapella??

  • i went so crazy trying to remember any little peace besides do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do. i looked everywhere lmao i am glad i found it. i love it

  • Wasn't there a version of the video for this DNA remixed version of "Tom's Diner" that featured Suzanne sitting in a diner with actors physically acting out each scene she was singing about? I remember it was done in black & white too . . . Or did I just imagine this in mid-coke binge in 1990???

  • @DaftSwank I have been looking for that version. I was relieved to see your comment cause after hours of not finding it I thought I was having some kind of odd fake memory trip.

  • kid n' play....classic

  • REEEMIXXX beat, check it out at youtube.com/user/mikedoww its called einstein instrumental

  • Ear Worm!!! But a worm I like!

  • awsome song!

  • i so love this!...still

  • i love this song!

  • Could a remix ever be better than the original? In this case, yessssss.!!!!

  • I remember when I was dj-ing back in the early ninties I actually had a copy of the bootleg...plain white label, I marked on it " SVTD". I remember feeling like a real rebel owning an illegal recording...//great song, brings back lots of happy memories.

  • @j4kn1f3 Did you stitch this into Sybil's "Don't Make Me Over" or Soul II Soul's "Back To Life"? ;-)

  • Girl I was seein back then had this single, I must have listened to it a million times in a week, dug the hell out of it.

  • Despite all the apparent controversy about this ie easier to buy the recording than sue DNA ... I'd say they improved it!

  • A poignant representation of daily living; all our worries, insecurities, fears, phobias, longings -our observations of the world around us, and taking measure of ourselves in the huge scheme of it all.

  • ha ha ha, the Kid 'n Play and Running Man dances . . . definitely 1991 (or whatever year it was when I was in 7th grade)

  • Never gets old :)

  • Just saw a small documentary in tv about this song. Love the stranger-theme and the feeling of isolation there is in the song. Don't think I'll ever get tired of this song.

  • @1986annm Yeah, I saw that too... Weird that this was the mother-song of the MP3....

and no, I can't get tired of it either...

  • I love this song.

  • all wrestlign fans will remember this beat CAN U DIG IT SUCKAH

  • It's like a classic, i listened to this when i was in jr high school' i'm 35 now and it's still as tight as it was bacc then

  • umm

  • I've heard this video 2 times and the very first time i fell in love with it!

  • This is an old song but i still love it so much

    Its so relaxing

  • @MrUchihababe ...YES IT IS...

  • @MrUchihababe This is the origin of MP3.

  • this is very relaxing

  • ill comment then, this song is fuckin awesome.

I think the thing i love most about this song is its simplicity.

  • @Z0mbieKangar00

    Well said!

  • No comments??? I will post then LOL...I love this song, takes me back to high school dances when they would play this

  • @debfan74 elementary school :)
