who is the painting by, and what does it depict?

The painting is by Fra Angelico (1395 - 1455) probably painted around 1423. It depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, together with the Apostles and other Saints in heaven kneeling in adoration of God. It was chosen to accompany the "Te Deum" which is the Ambrosian hymn of thanks to God.
